Thinking about some Great Northern's cases for the BCF coupons.

    • Great northerns are hubby’s beer of choice but usually around $50 for 30 cans of original in QLD. Right now dan’s are $58.95 which even with 15% cash back is over $50. Still cheaper than the likes of Liquorland and BWS but not sure if price jacking or if they’ve just gone up recently or if every other time I’ve bought them they’ve done a bunnings and dropped the price to beat someone else….

      • -1

Great Northerns are the worst beer in Australia. I have been told that when CUB tried to start manufacturing VB in their Cairns brewery, they couldn't get it quite right due to the water, so they just shipped it anyway and called it Great Northern. It's literally VB that isn't quite right.

        • +3

Great Northern is brewed on the Gold Coast at Yatala though.

The Cairns brewery closed in 1992 and Great Northern wasn't released until 2010.

          • @Crowmanz: Oh right. I guess who told me that didn't know what they were talking about. I still say its a terrible beer.

            • +4

@bigbadwolf21: Iron jack is the worst beer in Australia, a more terrible tasting version of northerns

      • That one is $48.90 but that’s super crisp. We always buy original

    • +1

I don’t drink beer, I buy for the bcf coupons

      • I'd buy this beer, but I cbf

    • when did the bcf promo start?

  • +1

time to top up on bombay saphire and barcardi

  • Better start scouting the website tonight.

  • +1

Didn't Shopback update their terms for the BWS flash sale to say that you couldn't pay with gift cards?

    • That was for BWS. Different retailer, different rules.

      • +2

It's all Woolies though so there's a chance the same thing could happen.

    • +5

BWS cashback = ineligible with gift cards as a payment method

Dan Murphy's cashback = still eligible with gift cards as a payment method

      • Thank you gotyourback!

      • +3

So a lot of people pre-loaded gift cards to save a further 5% and now at checkout we find no gift card option :(

      • +1

This has turned out to be the most awful deal. Shopback hasn't tracked this properly, and Dan Murphy's is now claiming the following:

Thank you for your enquiry regarding your order [redacted], we can see that your order was purchased with a gift card. Unfortunately as per the ShopBack terms and condition found here, https://www.shopback.com.au/dan-murphys. Gift card purchases will not generate cashback.

        Could you please clarify?

        • They are wrong. Gift cards as payment are allowed.

Even the shopback rep says so, just scroll down a bit and read the replies by "gotyourback".

ShopBack need to pay out of their own pockets, as it sounds like there is miscommunication with Dan's on this promo.

        • Apologies for being advised about that - just wanted to confirm again that paying with gift cards is permitted with Dan's for cashback.

  • Thumps up

    • -1

      Biffo?? Bring back the footy .. :-) . !!

  • Kind of contradictory terms there about gift cards. Bold says yes, bottom of the deal says no

    • Hopefully someone linked with shopback can confirm before the deal goes live

    • +7

Terms are fine. You can pay with gift cards, you just can't buy gift cards.

    • +2

Terms are referring to the purchase of actual gift cards, which aren't eligible. Purchasing other items, and paying with gift cards is still fine.

      • hi GYB !!… are multiple transactions allowed or is it $30 max per account?

        • +1

          Multiple allowed

      • +5

Wish gift card payment option is disabled at checkout. Is only allowing CC or paypal

        • Have no insights into this unfortunately sorry :(

Someone did call them up and they've mentioned that it's a technical issue: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8619504/redir

          • @gotyourback: Any response to the damning claims throughout this post's comments that no one has received cash back for this offer?

            • @Gonltruck: I spent $300, I didn’t get any ShopBack email to say that I’ll be receiving cashback. Have emailed them twice, no reply

  • Ideally my BWS cashback gets sorted before I go again….

    • How long have you been waiting ? Did you use the app or browser ?

    • Same

    • is it pending

    • Mine just got cleared. Must of seen this comment!

Time to have a look at what I can get at Dan's I guess

      • +1

Mine just got cleared too :)

        • +1

          mine too.

          • @adn: mine is still pending…raised the missing CB request yesterday…will stay out from this one…

    • +1

Mine didn't track properly, submitted an enquiry, supposed to be getting $30, won't be buying until they sort it out.

I don't think posting here magically fixes anything, would be nice though 😂

  • +1

When working out CB remember it’s calculated on the ex-GST price.

    • Is this true? For the recent BWS 25% deal, I got $5.50 back from $22 for 2 bottles of green ginger wine.

  • G'day fellow drinkers — I'm looking for a Cab Sav like the St Hugo. If anyone could recommend anything I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

    • +3

Liquorland still has a "3 for $36" or "3 for 30" deal running, depending on the state you are in - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/532735

Ignore [WA only] and read the comments. You may visit couple of shops as they may have different stock (left). I personally bought Penfold Max Cab Sav 2015 - https://www.vivino.com/penfolds-max-s-cabernet-sauvignon-sou…. It cost me $12 / bottle when DM has it for $ 33 - https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_531435/penfolds-max…

People also managed to get some Cab Merlot, i.e. "Vasse Felix Filus Cab Merlot (usually ~$23 a bottle) and Cape Mentelle Trinder Cab Merlot (~$25)" - you way want to give them a go for that price.

      • Thanks for that! I was over the St Hugo deal like crazy.. called around all the stores around me and all had sold out. Thanks for mentioning it.. it's an insanely good deal if they had stock.

I'll check out the other bottles you mention. Have a good day!

        • +6

I'd suggest couple of other things to fellow wine drinkers if I may:

          • don't be shy to check their other deals, i.e. "2 for $20", you may find some reasonably good wines there as well.
          • install Vivino app on your phone, it has a cool feauture - take a photo of a wine bottle and the app brings all the info, reviews, average price, etc. Make sure you are looking at the same vintage (year).
          • invest in the decanter or aerator (Xiaomi even makes one lol) or both. At least open a bottle 30 min - 1 hr prior to consumption. Let the wine "breath" . I did a blind test, opened a bottle of Margaret River Cab sav (cheapy but very good for the price). Poured 2 glasses - one from the bottle, one through the aerator. Gave them to my wife and mother in law. Both didn't believe that its the same wine.
Having said that, even after aeration wine benefits from waiting for 30 min - 1 hr, in my experience.

I use that one - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32931630996.html, only 1 problem, it's bit loose for wines under screw cap, you have to put it in tight or even hold it. Plenty of other options, i.e. https://www.ebay.com.au/i/202780463656 or something like that.

  • Assuming 'wine' includes domestic sparking wine - please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ninth Island Sparkling NV Rose specifically.

    • +1

      It's a sparkling, so probably %15

      • +2

        Rude of them

  • Anyone knows if e-WISH gift cards are fine ?

    • +1

      👍 Confirmed above ^^

    • yes

  • -2

Still showing 4%? I just signed up, don’t know if that makes a difference?

    • +3

      Flash cashback between 4-8pm AEST

      • +1

Thanks. That should be in the title

  • +1

Might be a good time to try underwraps.

  • in terms it says gift card not eligible?? is this correct or do we have to wait until 4pm

    • As in you can't BUY a gift card, but you can PAY in gift card as stated in bold on the post above.

      • sorry my bad thanks

    • The terms say paying with a gift card will be eligible for cash back, purchasing a gift card will not. Seems quite clear to me.

      • sorry misread thanks

  • +2

Multiple transactions allowed or is it $30 max per account?

      • +1

        Lol.
Thanks for looking out for me mate.
Absolutely no harm in checking in.
I'll up-vote to balance the neg out.

    • +1

I would like to know this too - is it $30 max per account or per transaction please.

  • +1

Have DM stopped carrying Ardbeg or something? The entire range seems to have disappeared from their website.

  • Hesitant to order when Shopback hasn't tracked previous purchases..

    • +2
      • Disable any adblocker you have (they can remove tracking cookies)
      • Log into shopback and follow the link from there
      • Make your purchase

I've never had any issues with shopback or cashrewards doing this.

      • Yep, got my cash back from the liquorland deal just the other day.

      • +1

I've been using for about half a year for Booking, Agoda and Klook and never had issues but whenever it's tracking good purchases, it doesn't track. I don't have any Adblocker software on, always click through Shopback, never deviate from the page and always read the T&Cs before I purchase items. Starting to lose faith tbh.

  • a lot of brands removed from website entirely,as mentioned above Ardbeg, and Chandon, LOL

    • Looks like everything owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy is gone. Not cool Dan!

    • I was looking for Ardbeg too and thought they'd maybe stopped carrying it!

    • +1

Chandon brut is available on BoozeBud 6 bott for $101.74 instead $102 for a case, free delivery

      • How to get this price? My shows $119 plus delivery fee

        • BUD4VIH But must be 1st order and min $50

  • Due to temporary restrictions, you may order any two of the following, but not from the same category: 2 cases beer*, 2 cases of cider*, 2 cases of pre-mix (RTDs)*, 12 bottles of wine (2 x 6pk cases), 2 casks (not to exceed 10L in total), 2 bottles of spirits (not to exceed 2L in total) *Cases refer to either 24/30 pack, as applicable. These are intended to be daily transaction limits. Please update the quantities in your order accordingly to proceed.

    Talk about nanny state. Geez.

    • Been like that for weeks. Covid-state, you can thank the panic buyers

    • +1

Nothing to do with being a nanny state and more to do with having ample stock for everyone.
Everyone's consumption has gone up significantly and have seen issues with supply even with current restrictions.

    • Would be cool if it was limited to one of each type of spirit

Not sure why I can't buy a Malibu, midori, barcadi and Glenfiddich 15 in one shop

  • Thanks OP

  • +1

Glen Grant at $40 before discounts is not bad for cheap scotch

  • -1

So when it says later today, when will the cashback actually start?

    • It's this weekend..

    • Read the first line in the post. Literally the first line.

  • +2

I didn't think dan murphy would do this but I was eyeing a bundle that is on offer, now it's not a member offer anymore. Alot of stock becoming full price again.

    • Yep they've price jacked a number of items I was planning to get prior to this "deal".

      • +1

They've also removed a heap of items from their website. I wouldn't have expected that the shopback thing would have been big enough of a deal for them to make these kind of wholesale changes.
