  • I've had the Compton Road blend for the past few days and, having tried about a dozen other roasters in the past six months since getting my machines, I can say that a) they are the best beans that I've had and b) are definitely worth the premium over the other roasters.

Only tried Dark Horse and HI Fidelity, but at the rate Crompton Road is getting all the thumbs up from other avid coffee drinkers, might take the risk and just grab a 1kg bag

    • What else have you tried? I'm keen to see how good this coffee is

I picked up a bag of Compton Road during the $42 free delivery deal and can say I quite enjoy with milk. I opened the bag around 6 days post roast and the first few coffees I made were bitter but they've been pretty good since I did a courser grind.

For anyone using the BES870, I have the grind on 7 and weigh up 20g of beans - if you don't have a scale my grind dial is set to 2 o'clock but it grinds for a second or so after there's no beans so maybe move it back a little. Extracts around 38-40g in ~24-25 seconds.

Unfortunately I can get some much better beans locally for the price this comes to with shipping. If they were to offer the $42 including shipping again then I'd definitely jump on it.

    • Can you please name some of the local stores with better beans? I would like to have a try.

      • Not sure where you are but I'm in the ACT. My main beans have been from ONA coffee (http://www.onacoffee.com.au) for a while now, I really like their hitman blend which I get below RRP and I occasionally jump on deals posted here to change things up.
