Most people say sony car audio systems are crap. I Personally have Alpine Type R splits.

    • I never liked my Sony Home theater but have never owned sony car audio gear. Once I install the speakers, I will let you know if the sound quality is any good. My feeling is that it will massive upgrade from 2001 pulsar stock speakers…

Anything is better than the stock paper speakers!

        • You'd be surprised….

You can't compare Alpine with these $29 speakers. :)

I know for a fact that their Xplode range are entirely made of shit.

Not sure about their non-Xplode branded stuff, maybe they don't explode?

For $30 I think that's excellent value no matter how you look at it.

a pos would be appreciated in that case

  • Ok, I have just installed the speakers and that was best $29 spent…..
    Much much much clearer…..

    • video maybe?

    • Do you have the sedan? If so do the 6 inch speakers fit well in a 2001 pulsar? I really need to upgrade the head unit, wiring and speakers but I wasn't sure about what size speakers I need. Thanks

      • I have Nissan Pulsar 2001 sedan version . Bought $99 Clarion(Mp3, USB, WMA, AUX) head unit on special from Repco that came packaged with 2x 6.5" Clarion Speakers that I have fitted on the front doors. The Sony 6" was perfect fit for the rears.

All up with spacers and wiring harness for $150..

Not bad and its sound excellent..

        • Thanks for the help

  • what car do u drive? that will tell us

  • Anyone know if these fit the front of a Yaris?

    • Yaris stock speakers are pretty punchy as is, I'd leave it as is IMO, but yes they should fit

  • $14.95 shipping, still good.

  • About $10.50 shipping for me to Canberra. Good value. +ve vote from me. My vienta will finally lose it's stock front speakers from 1996…

    • I'll keep a watch on the streets for a Vienta with better than stock speakers ;)
Evil Laugh …to find your secret identity

      • Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

To be fair, the original rear speakers were half decent when new. Sadly though, being on the back parcel shelf, I think the sun killed them eventually. At least the front ones still work, even though they don't sound too great….(or maybe it's my self-installed Aldi head unit ;)

  • Not a bad price at all, and Frankie's is a very good store, he is a nice guy and I would trust buying from him. I would not expect too much from the speakers though, they are after all, very entry level 6" coaxials.

For $0 I think that's excellent value no matter how you look at it.

    • This is just too good to be true. What do they mean by "pre-order only"?

    • inb4 someone post this as a deal and complains like a whiny bitch later

    • Why go 6x4 and not just 6"?

    • I found out that its just because they have not been supplied a price to put up :/
and the pre order is if they have stock of said item it gets sent "they only just rebuilt the site everything is pre order other then items that they know they have stock in the warehouse of"

in other words order away haha

  • would this fit on 08 honda civic???

    • I did a quick search of Google and it looks like your civic will accept 6" or 6 1/2" speakers

  • Pretty cheap

  • Sold out already!

    • Apparently more is coming in stock soon got told on the phone "in the first hour they sold about 80 units" must be off here? haha

  • From an Audio Enthusiasts perspective, I'd be careful replacing stock speakers with this due to most 'decent' cars already have a decent factory stereo

Most stock systems aren't too bad, especially if they've already got splits. Installing this in a car with a split system will probably sound no better due to the speakers going through a cross over which kills frequencies below and above a point for either speaker. These being Coaxial speakers I doubt you'd get your highs through to them as they'd be going off to your tweeters. Additionally, being coax, high frequencies get dominated by lower anyway.

This would be good to get if you've got no real sound system and just after a basic factory upgrade. But for those interested in more than let, Get your Doors Sound deadened first and get an amplifier.

  • Guys, they are back on stock (I don't know how many). I just ordered mine and the shipping was $8 and I even got my tracking number already, so hopefully I'll get them 2morrow.

It's a shame that last week I paid $58 for the same model at Ryda Dot Com (shipping or pick up at petersham), however they have cheaper models:

Also found this store (Soundmaster, located at Granville) that has the Sony-XS-GTF1626(different model) at $44

    http://www.soundmaster.com.au/Sony-XS-GTF1626-6inch-Speakers…

    cheers

ps.I got a 1996 ford Festiva and the factory speakers were crap and this speakers sound much better.

When I was removing stock speakers from my pulsar they disintegrated on contact…. Heeheee(Probably from 10 years worth of sun exposure)

No wonder they didn't sound too good.

      • LOL so did mine in my Integra!

  • I really want to get this, is this $30 per speaker? And where is the add to cart button on the link? :s

  • $30 will be the pair in box mate.
