(Another) Techfast Review - from the Purchase to the Delivery of PC

Hi,

This might be TL:DR [In short, I expected some delays/slow communication/possible inferior parts but I am satisfied with the PC]

The long part; I just wanted to share my recent experience with a PC purchase from Techfast. I have never heard or known them previously other than through OzBargain.

I bought a Ryzon 9 3900x Productivity Package as their prices were competitive for a fully built PC. I have read from other comments, opinions and reviews, with some threads linked below, that some parts used may be inferior, slow communication, delays should be expected etc.

I accepted this. I do not know much about PCs or as tech savvy as many of you. I have built two PCS in the last 15 years so consider myself as a newbie. I have mainly relied laptops so hence my lack of understanding of the PC market.

I did price out parts and it came out to something slighly (around 5ish%) cheaper than the TF package. I didn't want to go and buy parts / build a PC and given the $120-140ish savings (on a $2,000 system) I'd rather get someone to build it for me, even if meaning getting some lesser quality parts.

The timeline of my experience is as follows:-

SUN 22/03 Placed Order
THU 02/04 TF advised a delay in PC case, so will upgrade to Thermaltake G31/32/33 at not cost [9th business day]
WED 08/04 TF advised an issue with the RX580 GPU [13 business day]
WED 22/04 I emailed TF to check progress [21st business day exlc Good Friday, Easter Monday]
THU 23/04 TF advised a delay in receiving CPU [22nd business day]
MON 27/04 TF advised PC dispatched [24th business day]
WED 29/04 PC received [26th business day]

So all in all, about 10 business days over the original estimate (of 10-14 business days prior to dispatch).

The items that I purchased and received are listed below:-

Items Purchased [Items Received]
Ryzon 9 3900X [Ryzon 9 3900X]
MSI Mag Forge 100R Case [Thermaltake Commander G33]
MSI X470 MB [MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max]
Biostar AMD RX580 8GB GPU [Biostar AMD RX580 8GB GPU]
2 x 16GB 3200mhz RAM [XPG Gammix D10?]
2 x 240gb m.2 NVMe [Lexar NM610 M.2 2280]
750 80+ Gold PSU [Gigabyte G750H Modular]

This is a cost $1945 excl. delivery

Here are some photos on how it looked like:-

Overall, it took a bit longer than expected but then I was not in a rush. I appreciate the complimentary case upgrade (as I didn't really like the look of the MAG Forge case). The parts I do not know if they are good quality or not but hope it works fine and gives me a few years of reliabile enjoyment.

I ordered one about a week after you did and I received a shipping note from them yesterday, so hopefully it'll arrive early next week. I'll post a quick review in this thread also if you don't mind me thread-jacking?

I think its good that they send the mainboard box along as well, I'm hoping they'll also ship the VGA box… Didn't specifically ask for it, but we'll see..

Let us know how yours goes when you fire it up!

Yeah post your experience as well if you want, all good.

I fired it up last night after connecting it to my new 34inch ultrawide.

I'm just a newbie so my happiness levels are easily satisfied ha ha ha ha

I had a great experience! Parts are cheapest available but they don't hide that. I couldn't be happier.

  • nice review , thought they had ran away ;) considering Covid time ,not a bad wait ,im waiting for a cheaper deal

    .,

  • I ordered one of their PC's on 18th March and it was despatched on 7th April.
4 consignments were sent, and they arrived 1 at a time which was very frustrating!
We didn't receive the final item until 22nd April - considering that we are in Adelaide (as is Techfast I believe), and the parcels probably had to travel a max of 20km, this was very disappointing - we would have been better to have tried to organise to collect it ourselves!
With regard to the computer itself, hubby is very happy with it.
The case is a bit cheap looking but the computer does what he needs it to do.
Overall we are happy with the computer, just found the delivery time to be exorbitant

Happy TF customer here, got the ryzen 1600AF/8gb gpu/ram package for $600. After installing an M2 SSD, it's an amazing machine for the price point.

    Another happy customer here;
    I got the Ryzen 5 3600 with 2080 super, deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/525639, with the 32GB 3200 RAM upgrade

Ordered on the 3rd (but after business hours), so first business day was the 6th April.
Arrived today, only got the shipping notification yesterday (business day 17) - I was pleasantly surprised that the delivery was so fast (I am in SA though)

About a week or so after I ordered, they sent an email saying that they had secured a deal on the MSI Ventus upgrade and the 750W gold PSU for $49 each (which I ordered).

In the end, I received a Gigabyte 450M motherboard instead of the 350M board that I purchased as well, so very happy with the components I got and very happy with the service.
It did go slightly over the 14 day time, but not by much and they were prompt (within a day) with email replies

    Components I got were:
    Thermaltake Versa H18 Case
    Ryzen 5 3600
    Gigabyte G750H Gold PSU
    MSI Ventus 2080 Super
    32GB 3200MHz RAM - XPG (2 x 16GB)
    240GB 2.5" SSD - WD Green

You got a free upgrade to 450m? I had to pay $99 just today to upgrade from 350m because they had no 350's in stock. What gives techfast?

  • +1

So here's my review for yas:
Ordered PC on March 31st - went for the Ryzen 5 3500X and 5700 graphics card, then upgraded the ram to 32g 3200.
    Wait..
    Wait…
    May 1st it arrives!
(Techfast had been in contact a week or two prior to advise of some delays, mainly due to the Covid19 situtation, and how that is affecting shipping for everyone.)

Fired it up this morning and she's off and running nicely! It'll probably take me a week to get everything loaded on there that I use, but thats just me..

    Pros:

    • Packing was excellent:

      • They had put disposable packing inside the case to ensure the parts don't come loose and bounce around in transit, and they had also put a sticker on the outside of the case to inform me of this and to make sure I remove it before firing it up. Kudos to TF's attention to detail here!
      • The case was packed in a bag, seated in its styrofoam brackets, packed into its product box, which was then neatly packed into a shipping box.
      • There was also a small second box that contained the power cable, the graphics card 'stuff', my invoice, and an instruction sheet on how to get the system setup and started.

    • Shipping was fast - TF are in Adelaide, I'm in Sydney. Took 2 days!

    • Build quality is very tidy - TF cabled the system out very neatly so there's no loose or cluttering cables in the case.

    • Windows comes pre-loaded, but un-licensed.

    • The case came with 2 large fans installed - one at the front, 1 at the back. So I'm confident airflow through the case will be good.

    Cons:

    • This isn't TF's fault, but I should've upgraded the motherboard. The size of the graphics card means I can't use any of the other PCI-E ports as they're concealed.. Oh well.

    • Fans are a little noisy, but nothing I can't live with.

So overall I'm quite happy with this, albeit after only 5 mins use. I'll report back if it explodes and/or catches fire. :)

  • Anyone else have issues with sound on their PC? Just received it but no sound is coming from it.

    Review of mine (R5 1600AF, GTX1660, A320, 8gb, stock PSU, SFF case)
Ordered 21st Feb, Arrived 26th March
GPU was out of stock ended up paying $89 for a 1660super upgrade.
been using it for over a month now and I am very happy with my purchase but I would only recommend ordering from Techfast if you know what you are doing.

    Pros:
    - Packing was good
    - Cable management was excellent and well thought out
    - Incredibly good value
    - Case was a great size, love the small form factor

    Cons:
    - Case came with no case fan as advertised, had serious thermal issues and GPU was throttling hard.
    - PSU is poor quality, unreliable power delivery to the GPU causing regular crashes and blackscreening. same issue confirmed with a friend with the same aywun 700w psu.
    - Poor thermals mean the whole PC is super loud when at load.

ended up chucking in another stick of RAM and a case fan which has helped a little bit. will probably end up upgrading case and PSU at some point. For the $566+$29 shipping+$89 GPU upgrade I paid the PC is an absolute beast and should last me a long time.

So basically you bought a 3900x to browse the internet?

    • +1

Too much for browsing right? :D

I do a bit of video editing on the side and it has helped.

I meant I am a newbie when it comes to hardware/hardware building.

Too much for browsing right? :D

        Just a little bit =p

The CPU is hugely disproportionate to the GPU, but if you're not gaming on the PC that doesn't really matter.

It's not that hard to build a PC, there's plenty of good guides on Youtube to follow. It's nice to be able to pick your own parts and not rely on the Techfast lottery.
