Spending the cash to change mobo and cpu from an i7 8700k to a r5 3600 is the farthest thing from an Ozbargain I've heard of.
Not worth the upgrade at all . 10% better multi core usage and same same single core
Would never notice an upgrade to a 3600 and some games will run slower..
Wait for ryzen 4000 or upgrade to at least a 3700x if you must have something now for some reason.. the intel stuff will be worth alot less soon with 10th gen coming out.

For gaming, even the 8700k will still beat out the 3900x easily in most games.
Really advise against getting that much cores unless ur gonna make use of them, for the likes of video encoding

Yes.. look up some benchmarks the 3600 is almost twice as fast.
If you can wait for intel 10th gen to come out ryzen prices will drop

If you find an awesome deal on a Ryzen 4600 pop up in the next 6 months when Zen3 comes out then you will be better off upgrading then someome who spent almost $300 on a ryzen 3600

Was gonna originally get a 1600af paired with something like a 1660super.
Saw this deal, figured the 3600 is a better buy and coupled it with a gpu to get a further 10% of the gpu, kinda offsets the extra jump in cpu price. Great deal considering the scenario

I would argue early 2022. Ryzen generation releases have been coming more than 12 months apart, with the 4th gen expected 4Q this year… so if the trend continues, it would be expected early 2022.
