A posted in the Qantas frequent flyer Facebook group originally found this, but from $188 on Qantas Hotels site, if you prefer to use them, but we found it a few dollars cheaper.

Example: May 16 to May 17 (Sat night) - $179, for a King Room, free cancellation.

    Anything similar in Brisbane?

    Thanks!

Depends where, but The Point has some great prices at present (low $100s) around the place. I'm not sure I'm allowed to post direct links in the comments, but you can search similar dates on our site.

      • Thanks mate. I just searches for flights from
Newcastle and I forgot the airlines are still closed haha. Oh well. Maybe from July!

Might have to try a staycation in Port Stephens or something ;)

Honestly didn't know this place was 5 star. I wouldn't place it in the same league as the full blown Hyatts or Sheratons or Hiltons or Sofitels, but it's a good price for this.

Location is really good. Parking isn't too expensive across the street

Agree that 5 star is a very deep category but this is clearly and definitely not <=4.5 star

Probably the best location of a hotel in all of Australia - Subjective yardstick for sure, hard to measure, but from a quintessential hotel-with-a-view in Australia perspective probably is at the top of the list right?

Park Hyatt Melbourne isn't too shabby.

    • "Park Hyatt hotels are Hyatt’s top-tier, luxury properties. There are only 47 Park Hyatt hotels worldwide (the majority of which are in Asia), but you can find them in sought-after destinations like Sydney, Buenos Aires and Paris."

Park Hyatt Melbourne is akin to a dump when you compare it to the Park Hyatt in Sydney. I'm exaggerating (a little), but the truth is the Melbourne property is incredibly aged and in need of a full refurb.

I've stayed at both and the Park Hyatt Sydney is actually one of their best properties globally - it's stunning!

      • Definitely prefer the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne. The Hyatt branding strategy is definitely hard to navigate compared to Marriott, Accor et al.

Having said that though, Park Hyatt in Tokyo is definitely iconic.

        • I mean fair enough, can't fault you for your opinion - but the Park Hyatt Sydney is one of the most highly reviewed hotels by bloggers and reviewers alike.

This hotel is very run down and tired, much like darling harbour

179 is not really bargain price at all!
just a normal price for low season during these years!
if the rate is below 149 for a five star hotel, that will be a bargain price!

    • I literally can’t remember the last time a 5 star hotel in Sydney was regularly under $200 per night. Usually sit around $300-350 right? Maybe super advance bookings / deep discounting aside…

    not a 5 star hotel

  • Is this one of the hotel's where they are quarantining Australians from overseas for 2 weeks?

    • This. Are overseas travellers doing their mandatory sentences there?

    • Yes, however I believe that was short term and the hotel is no longer being used for this purpose.

  • Is this for a standard or Harbour view room? Only worth it if Harbour view
