  • Nice, out of my budget unfortunately.

Great monitor, not sure about paying an extra $900 over the Acer X34P even considering Dell's service and build quality.

    • +1

X34P isn't 120Hz native, needs to overclock, more cases of black light bleed and also shorter warranty?

Other then that they are pretty similar.
I'm just hoping the LG monitor will make these ones go down with new competition.

      • Owning one and so far very happy wit hit. Havent noticed backlight bleed.
Also the overclocking is easy with the press of a button from the monitors menu screen.

I agree with the LG comment, except it is Freesync. I know it supports G-Sync I have heard some having issues.

    • Where is that acer for 900? Link?

  • +1

Hmm, wouldn't the LG 34GK950F (144HZ/IPS/same curvature/3 year warranty)stack up better at $300 ($1600) less? G-Sync compatible as well. Was deliberating between that and the Asus PG349Q at $1369.

    • All the tech reviews I've watched put the LG 34GK950F(-B) ahead of the competition for a 34" 1440p monitor.

    • Yep the LG is the better monitor

  • Big upgrade from the Dell Alienware Monitor Aw3418dw?

    • Out of box 120Hz vs 100Hz.
      Better colour accuracy,
      Brighter.

Aesthetics wise, better finish in my opinion. White instead of gloss black.

      • The 3418 is matte black and dark grey. Only glossy bit is at the top of the stand.

Still overpriced imo, the reviews left a lot to be desired at this price point.
You are paying a pretty serious premium for the Alienware brand here.
The LG 34GK950F-B or Acer X34P are better value.

    • +1

Asus PG349Q as well. $650-700 is quite the difference.

  • What's the diff from a predator 34p?

  • +2

i loves my precious X34p, awesome monitor…got it for under a grand too. Alienware sounds great but its literally double the price which is a shame

  • +1

its all about the brand here, dont be stupid, dont pay premium, dont bother

don't think many people can afford these when everyone has taken a 20%-40% paycut due to COVID-19

    • +1

I ain’t taken no pay cut.

        what do you do?

        • +7

          I got things going on.

  • "Honey, have you seen the house deposit?"

    "I…uhhh….."

although my 55" Samsung q7fn isn't ultrawide, it does 120hz 1400p (16ms input lag) as well as 60hz 4k, and was this price 18 months ago.

just saying… you guys sure you want a monitor this expensive when you can get a tv that does similar things, and some better things?

    • -1

You are comparing apples with Oranges.
Gaming monitors cannot be compared to TV performance

      • -3

Umm, yeah they can. I just did. See the comparison above?

What about this monitor is "incomparable" with the specs listed for the tv above?

        • +1

          Err the 16ms input lag.

          • -2

@Ryanek: Comparison success. Yes indeed the 16ms input lag is a factor. But not a massively noticeable one. No issues playing cod or bf5 on the tv, but siege I move over to my 240hz tn monitor. Seems to help.

You notice the difference between 2 and 16ms input lag? Or you just quoting diffs in specs?

  • Really would love some actual input from others on whether 15ms input lag makes a difference in vast majority of games (and at vast majority of skill levels).

I'm all for having the right hardware for the job. But unless you really want ultrawide this isn't a great use of your money imho.

  • Both Dell and Alienware have 6% cashrewards so should be able to save a few more bucks on this. Ordered - my venerable U3011 is going faint.

    • Worked out to a further 51.11 off via cashrewards.

  • Monitor received - fast shipping - major issue though the joystick controller on the back which is used to bring up the on screen menu is non functional. Took 50 minutes with Dell to accept this as a hardware fault and apparently will take 24 to 48 hours for them to issue an email acknowledging this before they look into shipping a replacement. This is a premium product with sub par service. Buyer beware.

    • That is not good but thanks for sharing. I find dell hard to deal with so might pass on this monitor and wait for the new LG

  • Does Unidays 15% off coupon stack with this ?
