Surprisingly easier than I thought over the phone.
3 minute hold to speak to someone.
Don’t think I was the first one as the operator was all over it. Thanks fellow Ozbargainers :)

      • Got PB at OW also. No hold. Very easy transaction.

        • Does this require student card? Seems education price.

        • +14

PB Over the phone is a MUCH more pleasant buying experience than feeling like a criminal asking in store and getting questioned and excuses as to why purple is actually blue. Phone sales team are very friendly

          • +4

@financialminimalism: Agree with this. Only once tried at store, treated like a 'cheater' by officework staff

            • @hayashiyoshi: Surprisingly was pretty straightforward when i went into Northmead NSW Store - guy was like these are very popular today haha and just price matched. He tried to add delivery though initially and i pointed out it was free and he was like no probs and done! Thanks OP, this was actually my first time going to OW to Price Match.

          • +4

            @financialminimalism: 100%.
You feel like a criminal asking for a price match in store.

          • @financialminimalism: How do you pay for it when you make this deal over phone?

    • Have you received your confirmation email yet? I ordered maybe 1 hour ago and still nothing.

    • $322 would make it one of if not the lowest price its been here ?

      • +1

lowest actual price, not including the DS price error

  • +1

    Price match at OW?

    • Yea walked into an OW and they price beat for me - $322. OW Cannington WA

  • Is the delivery free?

  • Nice.. One of the Better prices around

  • Website down

Airpod…. what if you want to buy both?

    • +4

      Then you just buy both

    • You buy one each to make a pair.

  • Got them for $322.05 @ Officeworks Northmead SYD, thanks!

    • -2

      Edit: Read the comment wrong.

      • Apologies if i wasn’t clear - not sure what your comment was - but i did mean it was price beat at OW. Thanks OP

        • Haha sorry. I meant that i read your comment wrong and so I amended my original reply to read as it is now (as I cant delete it).

  • +7

If you buy your school kid one of these then you obviously are setting them up for a lifetime of financial recklessness.

    • ok

    • Ok

      lol, get a life

    • -1

Awwww, somebody missed out when they were a child :(

  • I did PM from West Ryde for $322.05. It was my first time Price Match at OW. Thanks OP!

    • Same! Well worth it. Thanks OP

  • Thanks OP. OW price match success!

    • +3

These will be used primarily for Zoom work calls. What’s the thoughts on justifying these on my tax return?

      • +3

        yes

      • Give it a crack and let us know later in the year. 🙂

    • I’m guessing you didn’t need a student ID for this?

      • +1

No you don’t - they just price beat.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Price matched at OW

  • +1

Thanks, got one from OW with price match.

  • Thanks OP. Waited 3 minutes over the phone - the person who picked up knew exactly what website I was referring to and pricematched without checking. Very smoot hand quick checkout process, will collect it in-store later today after receiving a message!

    • I had the same experience. I felt like such a Karen, but they made it easy :)

  • Confirmed
$322.05 officeworks PB directly in store, very easy process

  • If you read the last few pages here you wouldn't buy these. Yes I had a pair and returned them due to poor fit.

$339 for that amount of battery life 0_0 compared to what's currently on the market.

Up to 4.5 hours of listening time with a single charge (up to 5 hours with Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode turned off)5
Up to 3.5 hours of talk time with a single charge for apple cider.

Yes you have a point here. However I imagine that is just one aspect of a purchase decision for alot of people.

This was the first time giving money to apple in over 10 years (i try not to)… but I was unable to find something more comfortable, portable and well just works as it should no faff.

Battery life and sound quality are average, but if these are your primary determinants I think you would be looking elsewhere anyway.

      • buds+

    • +2

If battery life is a concern don’t look at earbuds

    • +1

Totally depends on your usage. I dont use my earphones for more than a few hours at a hit, and chuck them back in the case. Specs alone dont tell the whole story with earbuds, comfort, reliability etc make a huge impact on the experience - and that varies from person to person..

Im an android user, and ive purchased these even though im not in the apple ecosystem, because interms of shape, fit, comfort etc, they are the best for me and my ears. The Sony ANC earphones felt massive to me, and the case size was way too big for me.

      • -3

Surprised that you mention "fit" and "comfort" as reasons for buying an apple earbud. To this date, I do not know how people use Apple earphones and airpods.
They are the worst designed products designed to never stay in your ears.

  • +1

The “PbOW’s“ and “OW’s” is strong in this one
    🤦‍♀️😝

  • Can anyone help?
I lost my charger and don't have proof of purchase.
    What can I do?

    • +3

Purchase from apple. I think its 139$ unless you have apple care +

  • +1

Got mine today at vic high point ow! No problems. $322

OW Price Match worked great! $322!!

  • +4

Had a hell of a time trying to price match at my local Officeworks store (my first time ever trying to PM at OW). The guy said he can't match The school locker but can match another website at a higher price ($15 more). So I politely asked him if his store has a different policy to one from The head office (I told him head office can price match with The school locker). He said no, but his store manager told him not to price match with the School locker. So I politely asked him to please confirm with head office, he said no, he can't do that. I then said does he mind if I call head office for him to confirm…, he said go ahead, but I was on hold for so long (like 20 min and still holding)… anyway after about 1/2 hr, the guy come back to me and said he will check with his manager again…… and eventually he agreed to pricematch the school locker….such painful process!!!

    • +3

Next time just call them and collect from local store, saves you the hassle of arguing with store employees with nothing better to do than argue with customers.

    • Next time, just bring up their P/M policy on your phone. And, ask them to point out under what grounds your P/M request is invalid.

  • great found. thnks

  • +1 to painless OW price beat

  • +1

Here goes another $$$ for something I don't need. :)
Priced matched at OW Northmed SYD without any drama.

  • Just got these from OW with price beat and they're really comfortable compared to the Jabra Elite Active 75t. The Jabra's feel like blu tack shoved in my ears!

    • +1

Interesting I also just got these AirPods and I have the Jabra Elite Active 65t and find the Jabras more comfortable. May just depends on ear shape or 65s are more comfy. Interested to know how you think the sound compares?

      • +2

Fit and comfort are dependent on the shape of your ear for sure. The AirPod Pro's have an advantage here due to the vented design that equalizes pressure. No other in-ear earphones have this feature AFAIK.

The Jabra's have more punch and sound a bit livelier but the Airpod Pro's are also great and not that far off.

        • +1

Thanks for response. Definitely both seem close for me in sound quality but I also feel my Jabras have the edge. I’m also a bit disappointed with the noise cancelling although have got to test them on a flight.

I’d probably recommend the Jabras to someone I’ve pros especially if they are cheaper.

  • +7

pro tip, buy apple care for the $49. If you can manage to get less than 80% capacity by 24 months time, then you're entitled to free replacements. I think it's pretty likely these will have less than 80% capacity after 24 months if you use them quite regularly.

    • How do you check the battery status though

      • +1

Yes I'd love to know this too.. did a bit of google look around doesn't look like you can do into a menu or something on your phone and check battery health (like you can with iPhones)

      • +1

I think they essentially kind of go off your word, surprisingly, at least for now.

    • Does Officeworks also sell Applecare? I couldnt find it on their website

  • -1

Thanks so much 🙂 PB from OW with no issues, except had to go to 2 diff stores as they had a limit of one per customer, which I applaud, and I needed one for my wife as well.

    • +2

Surely get a few more for some easy flipping 😉.

    • +1

Is your wife’s name eBay? :)

  • Price Match at Richmond (Vic) OW, thanks Op! Fits my ears perfectly right out of the box but I can understand if they didn't that it would suck. Definitely a gamble if the standard tips don't suit your ears, if you're worried try them at Apple (assuming they're still doing that in this Covid era… I know they were doing it at previously).

  • +1

    Plants vs Zombies Headphones :)

  • This or wait for Google Buds 2? Do not care for ANC as I have Bose QC35 II. My number 1 priority is call quality, which the google buds 2 seem to excel in.

THe Google Buds seem lighter plus Google Assistant…

  • There must be a new version incoming very soon, as these are heavily discounted every day.

    • They would most likely only be updated in November this year. But even that is highly unlikely.

As an example the first Airpods were released in 2016. Then Airpods 2 were released in 2019. So I wouldn't be surprised if they don't release a second version of the pro's until 2021.

    • +1

Sounds like the next version they're planning on announcing is a pair of over ear headphones possibly named AirPods Studio

    • Airpods Pro released last year October, there will be no similar line up for a year. some Twitter said, Beats X will be released soon

  • +1

Thanks OP! My very first tight-arse purchase using Office Works Price Beat.

I felt like a massive Karen, but oh well, cheap AirPods! :)

  • wow, what a bargain!
