  • Pods may be expiring.

    • +2

Unlikely as is sent directly from lavazza. Usually fresher stock than in stores.
Have ordered pods in their deals from them before - long expiry dates

      • -2

Double shots pods from L'OR Coffee Machine bundle are expiring, with most of them best before 22 May 2020.

This Brazil ones here do not like a popular choice so that I won't be surprised at the expiry issue.

        • +2

          A different offer!
The ones in this offer aren't available in supermarkets. They are a newer range - I haven't tried them.

Took up this 120 pods for $50 deal with over 14 months left of best by date. Still have a few boxes left of great coffee.

        • Yep… I ordered some pods from L'OR and they were indeed short dated (May 22). I phoned and emailed them photos of the box, they refunded me for the pods and let me keep them. Free coffee… I just have to drink a lot of it in the next few days LOL

Are these Nespresso compatible? (nevermind, saw the post below… different format again it seems)

    • Received pods today - best by end of 2020.

223 days left to drink 264 pods.
Will see the year out, as I drink 1 - 2 per day, so OK☕

Ordered after 5pm Tuesday, delivered 2pm Thursday.

  • +1

Is this compatible with Nespresso pod?

    • +4

No, Compatible with Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules.

  • Doesn't look good at all.

  • +1

    The pods are normally $8.50/12
So price is less than cost of the 6 boxes of pods.

The machine & delivery are effectively free.

Make sure you like their A Modo Mio pod coffee, as machine only takes their pods

Their cheaper pod range go on sale at Woolies & Coles down to $7 for 16.

264 pod deal for $93.50 delivered

Have used their machines (3 different models free in Deals here) for years - still in daily use.

    • Based on that the pods are 35c each, compared to this deal 70c (close enough) so unless you need the machine the pods deal you list is better.

Although Nespresso pods can often be bought for around 30-35c (yes not compatible with this machine)

      • Depends if you like their choice of pods. I'm tempted.

        96 Qualità Oro capsules
        72 Single Origin Brazil capsules
        72 Tierra! Bio-Organic capsules

I still have a supply of the Tierra! Bio-Organic (120 pod for $50 deal) which I enjoy.

      • With 3 machines - I don't need another.

Coles price for this machine is $79!
Easily sold similar new machine for $25 on Gumtree in previous deal - helps pay for coffee☕

    • All sold out!
Even the pod pack is not Available!

  • +2

Basically getting the machine for free to keep you in their closed ecosystem.

Pods are usually are $11 for 16 at Coles ~68.5cents per pod
    $72 for 50 pods ~69.5cents per pod.

Lavazza a modo mio pods are second best to nespresso in my opinion.
The pods used to be sold at a range of stores, now it is becoming more scarce - I just did a search and could not find their more premium range.

    • +1

Haven't seen the ones included in this Deal - Cereja Passita - Single Origin Brazil 12 pack pods in stores.

Don't know why you got a neg?
The machines have been offered free in deals to keep us buying their pods.

      • probably my opinion that these are good tasting capsules.
some of the older premium pods were better than some nespresso range - gone now even from their own store.

        • Taste is very subjective!

And the old premium range I loved has gone, with new varieties taking their place.

For my tastes, I only buy the Espresso Intenso from supermarkets - when reduced to $7 or $8.

Myers stock the better range. Get them when they give away $10 vouchers. Still have a few Espresso Divino ($10 for 12) from there.

DJs said they don't stock the pods but sell the machines, as the pods don't sell enough to be sold before best by date.

JB are clearing Magia for $9 - which I like. But check best by date! None in stores near me.

          Bought 120 Tierra Bio-Organic Pods for $50 - still enjoying them ☕

        • TGG have better pods on clearance 12 for $6

          Kogan have 96 /120 pod deals for $49 / $59

  • The machine is $79 by itself at Coles. Current Flybuys offer for 4000 bonus points.

    • I know it may now be a moot point but the machine is reasonably often a half price special at Coles. It was half price 2-3 catalogues ago from memory.

      • +1

That was just to give a price comparison for this Deal.
        Was $11.87 last year!

A few years back Lavazza offered cashback.
So buying it when half price, redeeming the $50 or so cash, and registering it for 32 free pods used to be a great Deal!

Last bought a machine that way for up to $25.50 profit! & sold the machine for $25!
Lavazza mistakenly sent me 480 free pods☕
Now that was a great Deal😃

Easy as to refill. Fill with fresh coffee, cover with either alfoil, or an old yoghurt alfoil lid (they are thicker and slightly plastic so can reuse multiple times). Just put a mark on your pod outer and capsule holder itself to ensure they line up (as these pods need to go in the same way each time).

Net result, coffee is 10000x better than their pods, it's cheaper and the environment thanks you.

    • +1

tried it on two different machines.
It worked for one but not the other.

A lot of time involved, it wasn't tunzafun.

      • Ok, here is my 6 years of refining method to make It faster than a manual coffee machine.

I normally do around 4 pods each time to keep the coffee fresh and minimise time,.

Use an empty upside down pod, cut around the outside of an old yoghurt foil seal or similar (as they are reusable)with an extra roughly 3-5mm around the outer edge. Doesnt need to be exact at all, even square works, but can be difficult to reuse. Can use alfoil, but this is normally a one use only proposition. A one litre yoghurt top makes 4- 6 pod lids.

        Now.

        1. If reuing lids again, Smooth edges of circles (doesnt have to be perfec at all, machine will squish it later).

        2. Grind beans into a small coffee packet. I use a conical burr grinder on setting 12.Smaller grind = better crema, but If it comes out too slow, you have gone too fine. I can get away with 10, but back it off two notches to not over work the pump. Grind enough for about 4 pods. Map = 8 grams each, but refilling you can get it close to 10g for more coffee each time (another reason to refill). dont fuss though as you are grinding into a coffee bag you can reseal with a peg anyway.

        3. Layout 4 pods infront of you inside a square tupaware lid (to catch spilt coffee). Makes clean up so much quicker. Put in plastiic bottom filter (for MAP, not required for Modo Mio).
4.Pour coffee grinds into each pod, pile it up high.

        4. Tamp down reasonably gently to make it just below level with a coffee scoop or a powerade powder scoop etc (for a Map or Modo Mio pod). If you dont have these, find something flat about the size of your pods (ie coke lid for Nespresso). Vary the tamp pressure to taste, it does make a difference.

        5. Place top filter on Map pods, others just cover with alfoil/ yoghurt lid and flip around the edges.

        6. Remove pods, and then tip spilt coffee grinds back into coffee bag (using the corner of that tupperware lid). Seal coffee bag with peg for next time. Hopefully not too much, fresh each time is best.

        7. Place 3 pods into the tupperware container that you are using the lid from, seal up for the next 3 brews.

        8. Make coffee with the other one :)

        9. After finishing coffee, remove the pod lid and rinse. Place whole pod into a cup of water, stir with a spoon. Map plastic filters float to the top, others just remove the pod and dry. Personally i chuck grind and water mix out the back onto plants or lawn (they love it).

I have done it with every pod machine and the only one that's iffy is the Dolce Gusto (but its Dustgusto anyway, and Ali Express do refill pods for $2 each for these anyway). Personally I use Map machine (biggest shot, second easiset to refil. This Lavazza woud be the easiest as long as you have the 2 marks to ensure it goes in the same way each time) These Lavazza pods have a date stamp at the front. Can use that as a point of reference for alignment (ie date faces the front).

Once in the swing of it I can do 4 pods in the same speed you could chuck a spoon of instant coffee into 4 mugs. The bonus being the next 3 days you have pods ready to go and the Taste is WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY BETTER. … light years ahead… Tunza joy!

Sadly, i still have the pods that I bought with my Caffitaly Map machine from Harvey Norman 6+ years ago. They barely break down. Only 2 out of ten have cracked! So pods reallly are an environment disaster, but dont need to be. Refllling gives the covenience of 'pods' 3 out of 4 times ( could do 5 for a full working week..but freshness will deminish), plus better taste, plus the environment…Tunzafun !

  • Is the milk frother worth it, if you like your coffee with milk?

    • +1

$40 for the frother seems a bit un-OZB

      • Yes, I didn't get the frother. I will see what the machine and coffee is like before getting a frother.

Offer: Lavazza A Modo Mio Fantasia Coffee Machine & 96 Coffee Capsules - $160 Delivered

Machine is sold by Lavazza for $199.
Kogan sell 96 capsules for $49.
These machines have been sold for a few years. Parts may be difficult to source according to reviews.

Personally making low volume of coffees, I'll stick to a more basic machine.
Had an early Lavazza frother. Sold it as I rarely used it. Having a built in frother is tempting problems. I use a simple manual French Press.
