Thanks for posting OP however I have found Shopback very poor lately. There's many examples of missed cashback. I've had a few not honoured even though I've done the right steps.

    • +18

Tracked every one for me perfectly.

Only times they haven't tracked is when using certain codes which also invalidate the cashbacks.

      • +13

Due, neo is allowed his opinion. And he's not alone - some of mine haven't tracked (usually Australia Post gift card purchases). I've had to have them addressed by Shopback. It's annoying, especially if you've had a few purchases and you lose track of them over time.

      • +6

Even though the purchase was tracked successfully with the correct amount at the beginning, the confirmed cash back amount after a few months was significantly reduced for my Dell purchase. Lucky I noticed the difference and found the original tracking email. This is dodgy af. They just secretly reduce your cash back amount in the background a few months down the track hoping you wouldn’t notice.

      • +9

The rep literally made a statement admitting that the system stuffed up with Dan Murphy and BWS. This was only after lots of negs and complaints on the deal page. Tell me again how that was the users fault?

    • +13

Me too. The ~10cent cashbacks always come through no problem, but any big purchases with 9-10% cashback always seem to go missing.

      • yeah, SB via Amazon & Ebay app seem to work well. website not so well (using their Android app & it's browser, or PC chrome addon).

But having said that, I just see it all as a bonus. if I get it - woohoo! if I don't - oh well.
I'm getting Amazon CB every other day from months ago. a few cents here, a few dollars there, some OzB bonuses. Which is nice.

        • -4

Yeah that's it, it's just a bonus. I wouldn't count on cashback to justify any big purchases, but getting a few dollars/cents back here and there is nice.

          • +9

@Timm: They are a business. Any false advertising should be punished.

      • +1

Yeah me too. All the little stuff tracks great. But the big stuff hasn't usually. I forgot to chase a big one up previously but it happened again last week (on the 12th) with HP, and although not that big money wise, I definately put in a ticket for a manual cashback on that one and will be making lots of noise if it isn't paid.

    • +8

Can we check with you on those transactions not honoured? You can PM me your registered email address.

      • +5

I've raised claims in the past and I get the same canned responses. About a month back I bought alcohol for CnC and picked it up on the same day. SB rep tells me via email that I have to wait between 30 and 75 days before they could do anything about it not even registering the purchase despite it being in my click history!

It's BS and I agree with an earlier comment - big ticket items with a hefty cashback are hit or miss, but tiny 1.5-3% transactions for a few cents at eBay or wherever get processed without a glitch.

        • The email mentioning the 30-75 day wait - are you referring to the one you receive after you've submitted a claim? We adjusted/shortened the resolution time a while ago and it's a wait within the next 14 business days from date of claim submission.

          • @gotyourback: Yes, the sale didn't register for the shopback amount but it registered in my click history. This was just about a week or so ago.

    • If you do it through your phone I would suggest using the screen record option, when they ask for proof just send them the video file. They cant dishonor that.

      • +8

Half expecting a hidden "screen recording will void cashback" clause in the terms now

      • I also do this now.

    • Same. Doesn't make sense that a Chinese store can deal with millions of small transactions and an Aussie store can't deal with thousands of medium transactions.

I think someone is pocketing the difference and it's not the consumer.

    • +1

I did a full reconciliation of Amazon transactions a few months ago because I was suspicious of how much (or little rather) was being tracked and I was pleasantly surprised and confident that it captured almost all transactions although I wasn't able to check the percentages because their logs don't give any detail about what the item related to or the percentage/final purchase price of the item. They provide only a cashback amount and some meaningless ID for the individual item purchased. They do not include a brief description of the item purchased and/or the percentage/final price of the item. In that way, the system is opaque and impossible to fully reconcile which is not good. It's just a pity it takes a gargantuan effort in the form of your own logbook.

    Thanks OpBot!

I'm not happy with Shopback recently. I only ever buy alcohol when it's on heavy cashback like these. I have the Chrome extension to see if it's active or not. And then it never shows up. So I put in a request and they told me no because of 4 or 5 possible reasons. None of them applied to me, since I've been using Cashrewards and Shopback for years, so I know the rules with stacking certain coupons or having multiple windows etc. Sent them an email to look into it, and they just ignored me.

    • Hi shiny1, all emails are definitely looked into. Can you PM me your registered email address so I can follow up with your query with the team?

    • +3

      Same issue here.

Only just received my cashback from the 25% no limit First Choice deal from a few months back. Took 10+ emails and many weeks until I finally threated with reporting them to the ACCC before they gave in and honoured the deal.

      Be cautious.

      • +5

I had the same issue with the first choice liquor deal and got a copy paste response from Shopback "support". Was very disappointed with the experience. Despite following SB instructions to the letter my cashback mysteriously never tracked. Never had any issue with hundreds of other transactions across different cashback sites (including Shopback) previously using exactly the same method. Lost approx $65 in cashback.

        • +2

Yup - same boat as me (but for a lesser amount).

  • +6

In a forum, I can see couples of people have an issue with SB of not tracking.

    • +3

Not just a couple of people. A very large number if you check the other threads as well. Systemic problems have existed at shopback for sometime and they wont acknowledge this.

      • -4

        "A very large number"
Highly doubt its large proportionate to their userbase.

        • +2

I didn't give it that context and I've no idea why you have chosen to.

I invite you to have a look at the other recent threads features shopback deals, this isn't just one or two people that have serious problems with the operation of shopback.

          • -5

@DrRalph: Me putting things in perspective wasn't putting words in your mouth.
So please don't try and pull that card.

        • +2

Did you even read? For the Dan Murphys deal only there were approx 40 people who had their cashback either denied or incorrectly calculated.

          • -4

@[Deactivated]: Oh yeah man I read every deal ever.
sorry for not spending my entire life reading everything.

  • +3

Beware I had to calculate my shop back (%) amount and they gave me less than what I was suppose to get! So everyone double chejc and be vigilant!!!

    • +1

be sure to consider ex GST cashbacks as well

      • +1

yeap did that too … they calculated wrongly

        • Ok that sucks :(

  • +6

There have been so many upsized deals that I'm not even going to bother to list them anymore where nothing was given, and the reps do not care. They blame the customers despite multiple people reporting the same issue.

  • +6

Do Not use shopback, the track always doesn't work during promotion.

My cashback from yesterday for Groupon hasn’t tracked. It’s about $60. The website gives me an error when I click report missing cashback. I went out of my way to buy in the timeframe yesterday. Now I can’t even open a query. I guess I will have to stick with Cashrewards. At a certain point, if enough people get screwed, ShopBack should be kept off ozbargain.

    • +1

The cashbacks can take up to 48 hours (2 business days)
Just wait out the 48 hours and then try and submit a report. If that doesn't work, message gotyourback on ozbargain. They were extremely helpful the one time I've ever had an issue with shopback

    • Report Missing Cashback only works if it's been more than a certain period of time (tracking time) since your click. In this case once it has been more than 2 days since your click to Groupon you can open a query.

  • some of my cashback that was not honoured by shopback because I had item in my cart already before activating the shopback, my fault, but quite annoyed

  • +9

    OzBargain is pissed off.

    • +8

Shopback are providing a service and people have been using it per their conditions. For whatever reason through no fault of our own they have failed at providing the service that they get paid for. Why should we use the service when there is a competitor which will do it properly and it serves as a warning for others to be cautious.

  • I generally track better using Chrome via my mobile than laptop.

  • I've found Shopback to be great with zero issues while I've been using then this year.

Those Crabtree and Evelyn pricess are very steep though. Didn't realise people paid so much for such things.

  • Great deal. No issues with Shopback in years of use.

Sometimes I wonder how heavily influenced some of the comments, votes and groupthink are here. It's as bad as Reddit…

  • +5

A couple of ebay purchases from January with expected available date of 27 March.

Enquired in early April, still no response as of today.

As for this deal, the selection of stores is just off putting ..

    • Hi victorheaven - could you PM me your registered email address so I can check with the team to see why you haven't received a response to your enquiry?

  • +7

Not downvoting the OP. I had a tracking issue with Shopback a while ago on a First Choice Liquor deal SB were running. I missed out on approx $65 cashback. I followed their instructions to the letter, having not had any issues tracking lesser value cashback claims prior with the same method. Anyhow..their support was lacking (sent me generic replies) and my claim was not resolved. I will not be using them again because of it.

    • Weird. I used Shopback for the first time on the 25% First Choice deal and had no issues with my ~$45 cahsback. It did take ages but I got it was finalised a couple of days ago.

I use Chrome normally bu for Shop Back and Cash rewars I use Edge as I never normally use it and have no add ons. From reading all the replies in this thread and others though I have become extremely wary and probably wouldn't use Shopback for any purchase worth a decent amount of cash.

  • never had an issue with cash back… got my 20% back from yesterdays increased deals….

to be honest i dont think its a Shopback issue but vendor issues (maybe being dodgy)

  • +2

Lot s of negative comments here against SB.. I value all the negative comments here which should be dealt by SB accordingly. Nevertheless, I thought I would post my positive review here. I have had a few situations where the cashback didn't track, one was a high value purchase from Dell. PM'd gotyourback here and the other time the missing cashback and it was tracked appropriately. It took time. But it was sorted out appropriately. Had another issue with the recent adidas sale but it tracked later. Thanks SB and gyb..I hope others would get their CB's validated soon

  • +1

    Cellarmasters is showing only 8%

    • Showing 25% on our end fine - could be caching on your end but as long as your purchase is registered between 7pm and 9pm AEST inclusive it'll be at the 25% rate.

      • Is a delay expected in this tracking?

  • We're not allowed to use voucher? Cellarmasters gave me one I was planning to use but saw the restriction "Promo codes or voucher codes not approved by ShopBack". Is that for all vouchers?

    • Any voucher we haven't listed up will void the cashback - in this instance we haven't listed any, so yes it would void the cashback. Also note if you have gift cards, cashback is calculated on the total after discounts and gift card amounts redeemed.

      • Hey, if a store lists a code, do we have to use it to be eligible? Code for Charles & Keith CKFRENZYFSD is invalid..

        • +1

You don't have to use it. In fact if your order is over $100 the code is redundant (it's for free shipping) as free shipping applies automatically for orders over $100.

  • Look fantastic order tracks in 15 minutes without any issue. On an iPad using Safari.

  • I bought 10 vouchers on groupon. I got 0 tracked

  • I just bought a dozen bottles from Cellarmasters expecting 25% cashback but I paid with my wish gift card. Now am panicking, will I not get the cashback if I paid by giftcard? It wasn't clear from the Terms and conditions. On the cellarmaster website it is showing the purchase as $0.

    • The terms do state:

"Cashback will be calculated based on Purchase amount after Discount & Giftcard Usage"

I assume the gift card covered the entire purchase amount, therefore it appears as $0.

  • Ok, I only bought it because of the cashback so I cancelled the order and did it again without the giftcard. But it isn't showing as tracking yet and I will be really angry if it doesn't track after all the hassle.
