I had the exact same problem i decided to take a kilo of rindless bacon since i didn't want to pay extra for the less baconish fat turns out the fat is super needed unless you have oil so i ended up with burnt bacon fused to the camp fire cooking plate it was kinda good in a super horrible burnt way. I signed up for some free oil so my less horrible bacon next time i camp thanks you.

His English sounds fine, though I suspect the period key on his keyboard may need some oiling. :)

      what about muffins?

  • I love this stuff!

    highly recommended!

  • +1 recommendation from me too. I use this oil for my daily use, buy it whenever it's on offer (the 4L one).

    • Absolutely: a beautiful taste and with a higher boiling point means you can roast, fry, even deep fry without having to clean burnt oil off everything. Cleaning up is always simple. Did I mention the taste?

      • Yep, I first started using it when I was searching for one with high smoke point. I absolutely detest the smell of other oils, especially canola and vegetable when deep frying. Only other oil I don't mind would be peanut, but it's not cheap and rarely on offer.

  • Programmer fail:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'Invalid IP address: '::1' blablabla

Hahaha, they didn't take into account that I might be connecting via IPv6 localhost to a caching proxy. Oh well, bypassing the proxy overcame this.

    • blablabla

Was that really in the error message? LOL

      • Do you really want the gory details? It was trying to geolocate my IP address.

      • Ah, I thought they failed on that count too. :P

  • Ordered, why not, i'll give this to my mother. Thanks Op.

    • Stocking up already for Mother's Day next year?

I got this free with a box of eggs today

    • where did u get the free eggs?

      • free oil not eggs

        • where did you buy the eggs to get free oil?

    • I got one too

who did you get it off Jugg Judy, was it the plaintiff or the defendant?

  • Thanks op

    Cool camping story bro

    • +3

Ah, I have such an innocent mind. I assumed it was for cooking until I read your post. LOL

    • +2

Whenever I'm off camping I require the full four litres.

      • Yeah but you camp alone. ;)

        • +1

Plenty of pegging in my tent.

        • lol. No 'circus' jokes…

  • Is this stuff actually healthier than olive oil? Because I read somewhere that thats just a huge marketting gimmick and in actuality its worse.

    • Well, the saturated fat content is slightly lower in the Rice Bran Oil. However, Canola Oil has lower saturated fat than the both of them.

They're all generally good oils, imo. Even Olive Oil.

If you like it, Woolies is selling 4L cans for $13 which is bloody cheap considering 1L bottle costs $7 anyway. Pretty good, I prefer to use this over sunflower/canola for cooking because it has neutral taste and has high smoke point.

    • This is exactly what I'm looking for.
Thanks for posting your experience, hopefully this will live up to it for me.

    • Wasn't the woolies special finished on Tuesday?

  • Thanks HoracePinker!

I've heard about this brand before, it'll be nice to give it a try.

This is really great stuff for wok cooking at high temperatures. Yay for free stuff.

  • ty op!

  • Argh, I hate it when it says street address. Too bad, in goes my PO Box address. If I get it, I get it, if I don't, I don't.

  • Thx op~

  • I find this oil quite good. I tend to alternate between this and Canola Oil, depending on which is on special when I need to purchase a new one.

There isn't much difference, nutrition wise, between the two. The Rice Bran oil does have the more neutral taste, though, and I actually use it as an emollient for minor burns and scratches at times, and it works!

  • Food stays crispier when cooked in ricebran oil than in Olive oil. And the smell when it's cooking is better.

I'm curious to know how a 10ml sample is supposed to be enough to decide whether you like the product.

    • 100, not 10.

      • lol Should have put my glasses on.

  • wonder if this will make my food taste like the restaurant food lolz, ive always wanted to try this but wasnt sure, the power of tv.

  • Wonder if this will be honoured? I remember there was another oil sample earlier this year where the offer was not honoured and they ended up giving a $5 off Internet voucher to use on their online store.

  • The most healthiest oil for deep fried things - for all others, use a good olive oil

  • Anyone else notice that the picture on the website shows a 1L bottle not 100ml?

    • So you know what to look for in the supermarket

  • If you do a lot of stir frying at high temp, or even a lot of deep frying this is the best oil you can get. Very high smoke point, and very healthy as far as frying oils go.. (avocado oil has a higher smoke point, but the taste is not as neutral).

  • Fries using Royal Blue potatoes in Rice oil FTW!

  • Signed for one, but am I missing the state field?

  • Also use http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html to give you a 10 minute email address to avoid spam…

    • It'd be funny if one of these either got bought out or simply went rabid, used all the personal details that they collect and started selling that. :)

  • +1

What's the good oil on this stuff?

  • I dont know why they want your Suburb and City as it it asking the same question twice.

    • and no state field :|

  • Awesome. Thanks for posting!

This oil is exceptional stuff, have been using it for several years. Its real strengths are:
    - Excellent taste, very subtle, slight nutiness
    - Exceptional health properties - apparently one of the very best oils you can consume
    - Very high smoke point, making it suitable for everything from stir fries to BBQs
    - Very light viscosity…hence great for salads and direct use e.g on bruscetta

Very underrated product, I think folks are turned off by the name 'Rice Bran oil' - hardly sounds sexy but its top shelf quality.

On a side note I never cease to be amazed by the number of folks who've no idea which cooking oils should be used for what and use Extra Virgin Olive oil for stir fries etc…..FWIW this product helps on this front as you quite seriously can use it for just about everything and get top shelf results.

Typing this as I have a coffee and some Brownies I made using this oil instead of butter and you'd never know the difference. :-D

    • That's an excellent and very helpful breakdown Nikko, thanks!

(typing this as I sit here covered head to toe in this oil instead of nutella and … oh wait … yeah I can tell the difference)

    • Yeah… all the reasons of why i buy this stuff…

I cant remember price but a few weeks ago, Rice Bran oil was on special at Woolies. But they were the tank sizes. If you use this as you everyday oil (like how some people use their olive oil), you wouldnt really be scared of expiring dates… :)

  • No probs MattyD.

Definitely recommend folks give this product a try and you'll never get a better chance than this. As mentioned by some, keep your eye out for the 4L tins of this that come on special around every few months. Has usable product life of years so even if you don't use much is a very good buy when they knock 30-50% off.

Is just one of those products you use and find yourself thinking,"Wow, why didn't I start using this before now?"

    • +6

      Dude/dudette,

It is a FREE sample for those who wants to try it rather than paying for a full bottle/tin and not liking it.

      Peace, man.

    • +3

Get the free sample and refill it from the 4L tin. Saves faffing about with a massive tin every time you want 10ml of oil

  • +2

Thank you - a good freebie which is always welcomed here on ozbargain!!!

  • "You have successfully signed up for free Alfa One samples" - SAMPLES?? Mm.. more than one?!
