Bought this for a year, never used (hopefully never will). Reason is to keep the juice there only when really needed for jumpstart (emergency). But,
would it be discharging itself if its never been used for a quite long period of time?
If so how frequent we need to charge? Every 2-3 months?

    • +5

I have one of these from another brand. When our car battery died, this got us going at least four or five times, without a recharge in between.

I have a reminder on my phone to take mine out of the glove box to top up the charge every few months, but it rarely needs it.

    • +4

      The description says 3 months

      • Cool thank guys

    • +2

Iv had mine in the back of my car for about 6months and had to use it the other week (for someone else…) and it had only lost 1 bar of charge and started it perfectly.

  • Thanks OP!

The larger units are also on sale, which use type C for charging and output

Yep the 2000a one is actually the first paragraph of the deal.
      Cheers.

I see, to early in the morning and need a coffee :)

Thanks for highlighting the USB Type-C, cancelled and re-ordered the 2000A!

    • Bought that 2000A a few week ago, I let's the battery goes low and jump start a 3.3L diesel without any hiccup. I will test another 2times soon.

  • I bought one of these babies last year and have used it 3-4 times on the old Lancer - works well and really easy to use

  • I bought the 2000A one 3 weeks ago and have been using it to charge my phone from time to time. One morning wake up to a dead phone not charging or turning on at all It surely cant be related to me charging from this? any similar experiences? or USB charging has been fine for people?

    • Has the phone battery run out or has the phone stopped working all together

      • Its a sealed battery samsung gs7 working fine for 3+ years, not responding at all to charge no lights nothing on screen and wont turn on, tried all the hold power volume down, many different chargers. Only plausible thing I researched on youtube points to a chipset failure where they open up to replace or resolder it.

        • +1

Wife's GS7 went exactly the same way. Put it on charge overnight, dead in the morning.
I wouldn't think it would be due to the charging method.

          • -2

@whitelie: caused by using one of these units to charge it?

            • @ssjmark: No, used to use a wireless charger overnight. She did wonder if it was caused by that but we tried a few known good chargers and nothing. No resets worked etc.

        • Happened to mine as well. Try to discharge it completely by leaving it unplugged (may have residual charge) and then try to charge it. Also try one of the reset methods (power, volume, home combinations). Mine started up a few times into recovery but eventually died.

          • @bargainshooter: Mine was discharged to begin with, most of the times I put it to charge before I sleep but not this time, tried so many things, I think only thing left is to leave it alone for a few days and try all the things again, otherwise it would be a technician job. It a bummer I had lots of apps and data in there now lost.

        • Could be a broken circuit in the battery, my gs7 wouldn't respond to any inputs at all unless it was plugged into a fast charger then it would turn on. As soon as I knocked it or unplugged it dead as doorknob.

    • I had a similar issue. Try a different USB c cable

  • +1

Thanks OP. One of our daily drivers is now a casualty of the Covid19 setback and now needs a jump every time it needs to be moved.

  • Thanks OP bought two for the family

  • Can anyone confirm this one has wireless charging . Just bought one from costco 10000 mah , with wireless charging $106

    • Nah, no wireless charging.

    • Saw the Type S costco one you bought with wireless charging last night. Assuming same one, it is 8000 mah and only 200A - 350A. That was $106.

The one costco sells online is the one without wireless charging for $99. That is 10000 mah and 400A.

Unless you need wireless charging I would go with the 2 from this deal, more battery capacity, more jusmp starting power.

  • Thanks got one to replace an old huge lead acid battery type backup jump box I have.

  • Got the 800A model back in Feb for about the same price
Our secondary car has been stuck in the garage due to the lockdown
Of course, no juice when I tried starting it up this week - never been so excited to have a flat battery :)

Have jump started the car 3-4 times and the battery indicator still shows ~80% left
    Great unit

  • Good deal, but just cant understand why none of them have power delivery >45W.
They should do a jump pack with PD

    • I think rooboost has pd

    • the "2000A" version has 15W PD

      • tbh 15WPD is rubbish, even worst than QC3.0 18W (12v 1.5A)

  • The Rooboost unit can be stored at up to 80c, I can't find the max temp for the Gooloo unit, does anyone know?

    • The ad for both the 1200A and 1500A show a working temperature range of -20°C -> 45°C, the ad for the 2000A model doesn't mention anything, (either on Amazon or the manufacturer website).

FWIW, I went with the GP1500 for the 18W PD and dual QC3.0 ports, (although this remains to be seen as all the photos show only a single QC3.0 port).

  • Super handy to have. I have a Trek Power 1500A. It will jump start our 3.0L Turbo Diesel BMW X5 3-4 times without recharge. I charge it when I use it or monthly, same time as I check oil and tyre pressure. It is a year old and still usually at about 95% after a month.

The Amazon price is shown as $98.99.

    • Yes, for the GOOLOO Upgraded 2000A Peak SuperSafe Car Jump Starter

  • Should I get the 1200a or 2000a? I drive an 86 so dont wanna overkill

  • +4

I bought the slightly larger GOOLOO Upgraded 2000A Peak SuperSafe Car Jump Starter with USB Type-C. I took it camping last November we used it as a powerbank to quick charge our phones, very useful. Last week my neighbour needed to jump start his Holden Kingswood, we used the GOOLOO and this little powerbank was able to jumps start this old beast. BTW this powerbank was able to keep the engine turning over for about 20 seconds then we sprayed the carbie with the magic spray and finally it started. I was really impressed that this little powerbank could keep this engine turning for 20 seconds without struggling then successfully get the engine to start. Oh and the last time the GOOLOO had been recharged before this was November, so 6 months then it could still start a Holden Kingswood, pretty impressive!!

    • Hi. Im pretty bad with cars, how do i know if this one will work for mine?

      Drive a 2011 Toyota Aurion Auto…

      • +1

It should do the job easily

      • I have the 800A, and that has no trouble starting my 2008 Aurion (same engine).

    • Wow if it can start the old carby Kingswood then it would easily start any modern car.

  • i have one of these they are very good

  • +1

How safe are these to leave in your car during summer?

    • Probably good idea to store it in a fire resistant bag, plenty to be had on ebay for $20.
Then put that bag in a thermal cooler lunch box so it keeps cool. Nothing kills battery faster than heat and Australian summers are pretty brutal.

  • Thanks purchased!

  • How do these compare to the rooboost units? The roobost seem to have so many additional features, like PD, wireless charging, lcd with percentage charge, hard shell carry case. But currently $129 for the 1500a vs $98 form this 2000amp. And I need one for my car's dead battery. Help!

    • Why one Earth would you need PD and wireless charging with it?

I bought it as a Jump starter and have a powerbank for fancy stuff.

    • +1

      You just compared it…

      • lol - yes but I want someone else to confirm it for me :)

  • got this last time, really quality product and love the pouch. Haven't had to jump start yet but peace of mind being in the boot.

    • I don't like the new pouch. The old semi-hard black pouch was better imo. The new one is just super cheap thin nylon.

  • Seems like only the 1500A model has USB-PD 18W and other two are QC3.0 limited models (1200A-18W, 2000A-15W)?

  • Im pretty bad at cars, how do i know if this one will work for mine?

    Drive a 2011 Toyota Aurion.

    • It'll work. If you have a larger battery get the larger one.

      • Sorry what do you mean by larger battery?

        • +2

Check the labels on your existing battery (pop open your bonnet and have a look on the battery top itself). Hopefully it says "CCA" and a number next to it.

That CCA stands for cold cranking amps. Basically this lithium jump starter unit needs to exceed that CCA value (plus a safety margin).

Small family sedans usually use batteries with about 500-600CCA.

Whereas bigger SUVs/4wd require 650-700CCA+ batteries

          • @OverBought: Whats the CCA on this one?

            • @Koipanda: Just have a look? Probs 540cca

            • @Koipanda: As in the CCA of these GOOLOO units?

1200A for the smaller GOOLOO unit (for $79.99), and
2000A for the larger unit (for $98.99).

The safety margin should account for deterioration of the GOOLOO jump-starter to deliver current, over time as well (with less capacity from each charging cycle, thermal degradation from storage in the car etc)

  • Good price on the 2000A unit, grabbed a couple.

  • The 1200A has 18,000mah battery, is the 2000A Peak also a 18,000mah battery or bigger? Can't seem to find the battery size in the specifications.

    • +1

      19800mAh from the questions below:

Question:What is the size of the powerbank for recharging your phone (mah)?
Answer:Gooloo capacity is 19800mAh. So if your phone battery is 3,000mAh you should be able to charge 6 times.

I'd rate that review a big fail. Why would you highly recommend it.

      • Wooosh. It's not my channel. It's a………… joke!

        • -1

          Your joke sucks.

  • Thanks! Been meaning to buy one of these for ages.

  • “GOOLOO” - do they actually pay some to come up with these names? At least they’ve got a sense of humour…

    • Go-Lo was already taken :P

  • Just got this delivered. Manual indicates max working temp 60c. States do not leave in car for prolonged periods in summer. There goes my reason for getting it.

    • She be right

    • Leave any LiPo at that temp, regardless of brand and its a good way to kill it for good.
