Apple Computers 10% off @ Dick Smith

450

Dick Smith is currently beating Myers $100 off deal by offering 10% off all Apple computers. Even on the cheapest models this is a better deal.

Have linked to Dick Smith website as it seems linking directly to the Apple range the OzBargain system suspects a duplicate and won't post (similar deal was run earlier this month).

DSE .. should really make this a permanent deal +1

Agree, there is no way I would buy any Apple Macbook or iMac without the 10% off as it comes around so often.

    • Same sort of status in VIC on both 13" models. Try price matching elsewhere ie Apple Store or JB?

      • +3

jb won't price match unless the competition with the deal has stock on the item that you wish to purchase. least not at warrawong or wollongong stores.

        • I think I read somewhere that last time Apple store were matching the 10% off without too much hassle. Might be worth a try if you have one close by.

        • +1

I've bought my Apple laptops from JB in the past and they happily give 10% without batting an eyelid.

    • Was waiting on this deal to buy this specific model to make full use of the Woolies QFF points… No stock!

  • Out of curiosity, has anyone previously successfully stacked this online discount with the 3% from MoneyBackCo? Does it track well?

    • Yap, not sure this specific deal, but i managed to add all the previous sales purchase from Dicksmith to my moneybackco account without any problem. Just make sure you go to Dicksmith's website via moneybackco's website.

one stack that you can use is that DSE accept the wish gift cards. If you have a source for buying them at 5% off (many do) you are set.

      • +1

Wondering, how to get 5% off wish gift cards?

        • He means if you have a friend that works at woolworths/bigw/dicksmith where you get the staff discount of 5%. I have one, thou wouldnt waste it on an apple product :p

        • No @massari, there are many places to buy 5% off Wish Gift Cards which can be used at DSE. The staff discount can be used on top of that.

        • +1

          TtiGer,

I didnt know that. Next time I get something from dicksmith I might try buying gift card from woolies 5% off then get another 5% off at dick smith :D That should work perfect.

  • Great Deal, As previously noted , anything under $1000, the $100 off deal at Myers is better Value!

    • +1

you cant get anything under $1000 aside from ipads and ipods which are not included?

      • +3

        mac mini?

      • +1

Mac mini ring any bells? under $1000

    • +1

Myer will pricematch DSE … might complain but will do it ..
got mine MBA price-matched from Myer Doncaster .. last time DSE 10% was around, they didnt have in stock, but ordered one for me at that price :)

      • +1

Myer Doncaster are funny. Last time I was there they had old Mac Minis from 2 generations ago still in the cabinet with the same prices (which were higher than the new generation)! If you had no clue about Macs you might have bought a really outdated model and got rippped off.

        • Totally agree .. I had to double check the MBA she was ordering was a 13" + 128GB SSD to make sure I get the latest

  • If you want to build your imac, example get a i7 imac, is the apple store the only ones to do this?

    • JB does it too. Just let them know you want to custom build it (CTO is the term used in the store)

      • Word of warning though: They require that you pay the full price up front and are unable to give you an ETA for when it arrives. Oh and being a CTO, they won't let you cancel the order. Personally I'd be buying from the Apple store — the only reason I'd consider JB Hifi is if there is no Apple store within 100km.

        • +2

You mean that you are expected to pay for an expensive custom built computer that you specifically requested?
          Pretty harsh policy, JB.

Custom built computers will take 2 or 3 weeks, the same time it would take to buy it direct from the online Apple store.

        • RE: Ecstatic

I think a deposit (of maybe 10% of the total) is more acceptable.
I don't think you should order anything from anyone if they cannot give you an accurate ETA.

And no, third party resellers do not get assigned stock at the same priority as Apple stores.

        • +1

@ Ecstatic - the reason behind that is just like from the Apple Store, there is no return of a custom built Apple except if it is faulty. JB are covering themselves in case someone specs up a Macbook by ticking all the boxes and you can easily add $2k to the cost of the product.

Then if the customer changes their minds and walks away before delivery, JB is stuck trying to sell a very expensive computer on a margin of 10% or less. So yes, I can definitely understand why JB has that policy.

  • Do apple store price match, so 10% off?

    • Yes they do but they won't beat it.

      • So if I got into a apple store they will take 10% off my built i7 imac?

    • Picked up an MBA 10% off no questions asked. Remember to get them to include you address in the invoice for items above 1k if you're taking out of the country otherwise customs will give you grieve during GST refund. If you've got kids in school, you can claim it back further, not sure how it works though.

    Windows 8 FTW

    • Shouldn't that be Windows 8 FUD?

  • Can you use this in conjunction with the Education pricing?

    • Highly doubt it hey. But give it a shot.

    • I called Apple and they said 'no'.

  • +1

Got JB in Highpoint to price match with no issues, picked up the 13 MBA for $1295
Had to pick up the item from Airport West due to no stock. But at that price, it was worth the 15 min car ride.

  • I love you people

Just got myself a core i7 MBA with 10% off from Brisbane Chermside Apple Store :D thanks everyone!! (further 10% off traveling overseas)

They originally offer me free MS Office with any Mac + AppleCare purchase but then come back to me and says they will match what Dick Smith is offering at moment.

  • +1

Just picked up at 11" 128GB from DSE at Lidcombe.

The guy there said there was only 1 13" 128GB left in the whole of Australia. They will order more but won't be in time for the sale probably, unless you do a layby.

    • you sell out, you mainstream lover!

      • Damn, why do I have this feeling I know you… :D

  • bought a Apple iMac 27-inch: 3.1GHz Quad i5 4GB/1TB from DSE Northland today.
