  • Seems to be cheaper here: https://www.skycomp.com.au/aoc-24g2-238-144hz-full-hd-1ms-hd…

I'm interested but bit wary seeing this review as well -
UPDATE: My monitor has had two more dead pixels crop up. AOC support said that this isn't covered by their pixel warranty. I was told all three pixels had to be side by side to be covered. Pretty disappointed with preordering this. ————— I upgraded from a 1920x1080 60hz monitor. I mostly play games.

    • Not with shipping it isn't cheaper.

    • Perhaps you could go down the ACCC route??

      • it is substantially unfit for its common purpose and can’t easily be fixed within a reasonable time
      • it doesn’t do what you asked for and can’t easily be fixed within a reasonable time; or unsafe
      • Ummm, 3 faulty pixels out of 2 million? I can understand the OP's disappointment, but I don't think ACCC would intervene unless the warranty specifically assured replacement for any dead pixels.

        • Well yeah it's not the strongest argument but its an options.

    • Did you try getting it exchanged with CentreCom?

    • looks like the shipping cost through sky comp will make it more expensive overall.

  • good monitor, bought in Feb for 250. Shoulda got 2

    • I'm intrigued but worried about dead pixels - have you noticed any issues?

      • haven't gamed much on it, waiting for next gen cards - but been fine for browsing/general use.

no dead pixels on mine, slight backlight bleed but it's to be expected with IPS panels.

  • Is this just as good ( minus the steam voucher)

that's a TN monitor - not worth it, worse viewing angles. also has a much worse stand than the AOC 24G2

      • TN?

        Thanks for the advice mate

    Pre-order only ???

    • ETA for shipping is from 30/05, post updated

  • Is the general consensus that this is the best price we going to get now that it is super popular, crappy exchange rate, Coronavirus etc. etc. Trying to decide if it's worth pulling the trigger now or waiting a couple of weeks to see if will go back to the mid-high $200's

    • +1

EOFY sales are coming up and remember deal is a pre-order, so it might be best off waiting as other business are probably in the same boat.

    • the steam gift card is through AOC directly; buy the monitor anywhere (presumably aussie retailers only) and then you can submit the claim. promo has another six weeks or so remaing so waiting shouldn't hurt too much, you would just hope that prices didn't go up from now till then

    • AOC have done actual cash card/cashback promos before, so this is only useful if you intend on buying from Steam soon.

In terms of the product price, I think you'll see it normalise. There are competing products that use the same panel, just for some reason AU retailers are nits when it comes to ordering them.

  • Hi,

I need help with a monitor purchase for a daughter new to gaming. Which monitor is best?

This AOC or the ViewSonic VX2458-C-MHD 24" 144Hz Full HD 1ms Curved FreeSync Gaming Monitor from Mwave?

    https://www.mwave.com.au/product/viewsonic-vx2458cmhd-24-144…

    Thank you

    • The AOC because it is an IPS panel, whereas the Viewsonic is a VA panel and you are paying basically the same price.

    • most people would say it comes down to preference, curved vs flat monitor. I personally would suggest flat panel for a 24" monitor and that curved is really only beneficial from ~30" and bigger. each to their own though. also, the VX2458-C-MHD is a VA panel and the 24G2 is an IPS panel. google the difference and the pros and cons - most people would say IPS is better.

  • Does anyone use a Nvidia card on these and does the freesync work as expected?

Ie is worth not paying for a G-sync monitor. (Rtx2060 techfast deal)

  • How are the colours on these panels! Heard good stuff about IPS panels

  • Use the gift card to open CS:GO cases. If you managed to get a knife = $$$ Profit (Free Monitor Baby)

J/k, don't gamble your hard earned dollar

  • Are dead pixels still a thing on monitors?

Is it a common issue with AOC?

    • +1

Just got this monitor from an eBay seller, it has a dead pixel and I am trying to get a refund currently. Take this with a grain of salt because I am sure there are plenty of people who don't have dead pixels on their monitors - you just wont see them on forums telling people.
