290
SPB103J

Yeah yeah, I know everyone is sick of the Starbuy one day deals so here's something from their members email instead. I have had my eye on this model for a while and this is the best price I have seen. RRP is $1300 and normally Starbuy sell it for $859 so you save $60. Price includes express post shipping as usual.

The pics on the internet do ot do this watch justice. Here's a much better illustration https://v.redd.it/9ijn8mjhqwi41

      Actually, stainless steel.

      • The deal itself is gold. :)

Man, this is what I've been wanting since I got my Seamaster 300M. Been waiting for a price drop….must resist haha

    • Your comment is what makes me wary about walking too far up the financial watch buying hierarchy. I get the feeling no timepiece at any $ would quell the thirst for the next one.

Re the Sumo- good watch at a good price but I tried one on and it was a massive 'hulk' of a watch.

      • You are 100% correct! I have a few Seikos, Tudor, Omega etc. and I still want a few more watches. Every time I bought a watch, I promised myself that I am not buying myself another one, only to then buy another one in a few months time. I then realised that it's not the watch, it's the addiction to keep buying watches. Now I try and resist even harder and it's not easy.

        • Yeah I'm still paddling in the shallow Seiko/Steinhart/Vostok/Tissot/Hamilton/Casio waters, and none have stymied the want for more. I was looking at an Oyster Perpetual my colleague owns not 20 minutes ago and while it's gorgeous, is it worth 15x the price of the SARB033 I'm wearing to work? Maybe

Where'd you get your Tudor in AU? Is it everything it's hyped to be?

I'm very clearly observing the entire watch market trending to increasing prices thanks to an economically thriving and consumer driven Asia and think despite my concerns I should jump on my grail, the Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, before it runs towards a 10+k pricepoint. After all with this trend it seems like they're no longer depreciating assets.

@Unotifoso: I have Blue Tudor Black Bay with the ETA movement as I wanted the "discontinued" one for my collection, rather than the one with the in-house movement. It's a beautiful watch and I love it. Bought it from an AD in US.
I have given deposit for my grail (once I have it, I might have another grail) in UK almost 6 months ago and now everything is stuck because of COVID. Hard to find anything in Australia here and the treatment I got from most ADs was absolutely pathetic. Most are just arrogant pricks and I didn't succumb to their tactics.

            • @ozioziozi: Isn't the Black Bay NWBIG?

              • @gentlecrack: My understanding is that Black Bay led to the revival of Tudor and it's one of their most popular watches.

    • I've been thinking about getting a seamaster 300. What colour did you get? First I was looking at a black bay, then looked at the reviews and everyone says for the omega. Considered the marinemaster as I love the look but wanted a watch that will stop me from buying more. Looks like that's not the case though haha

  • Showing as $859 for me

  • Such a great watch.. now if only i had the $$$.

this would scratch my Hulk itch so much… for a fraction of the Hulk's RRP (let's not even talk about the market price)

    • In the same way a red Corolla will scratch your red Ferrari itch…

      • So true… that being said, I’d probably have snapped it up anyway if it was a little smaller in diameter… and then make loud “vroom vroom” noisies in my Toyota! Hahaha

  • Who are these He-Men who must get wrist hernias from wearing 45mm.case size watches?
    Clue…it's called a Sumo

    • It wears smaller than the dimensions due to Seiko magic. You should see how many people with child like wrists wear an MM300.

  • Im not a watch guy but why does this look similar to a Rolex submariner?
    https://www.chrono24.com.au/rolex/submariner-date-50th-fat-f…
Is this a replica or is this just a style thats common in watches?

    • hence the reference to the Hulk above darling.

      • actually its a kermit

is this just a style thats common in watches?
Yes. The Rolex Sub was incredibly influential with dozens of direct copies and similar models.

I wouldn't call this one a ripoff or anything, lots of small changes add up to something different.

      • I see, but do watch makers not fight against each other for copying their designs? just like how Apple sued Samsung long time ago for copying Iphone when the similarity is barely minimal

        • This is way better looking than the rolex… the dark green almost black… also its $34,000 less!

I do like Seiko but its 45mm… I mean really?

        • +1

I'm no lawyer but the patents for old Rolex designs are long since expired. You can make a very close copy as long as you aren't using their logos.

          • @Merlict: Also I dont think Rolex are going to do well suing Wuhan Watch and Fried Chicken Company…

            • @tonyjzx: i doubt they have chickens there.. must be a reason why bruce was a preferred alternative protein.

In real life a Sumo and Rolex Sub look nothing alike. This watch fits the classic Seiko diver design language.

    • It's a style common in diving watches. Also, contrary to popular belief, the Submariner isn't an original design. The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms came out a number of years before it

Just wish I have more hands 😑

  • Bought this watch around 5-6 months ago a little while after it came out and I didn't regret the decision at all, I'm getting around +5s/day on it which is alright. I ended up buying a Strapcode Hexad Oyster bracelet for it since my giant wrists didn't fit the Seiko one comfortably and I would 100% recommend one over the seiko bracelets. The quality overall is much nicer and it uses screws on the side instead of some annoying pin system.

  • I’m torn between black and green. Any feedback re: green colour?

    • I have the green one and i like it, though the color doesn't really stand out on it unless it's under good lighting. Quite a few people have thought it was just black until I put it in better lighting, I would still buy the green over the black if i had the choice again.

  • any places sell this for cheap still?
