Wow. As someone who used to sell height safety equipment. This is almost an unbelievable price. I would say the cheap AUS rated harnesses retail around 100+

Twice the price it was in March ($14.70)!
Think I'll wait as price has been dropping since high of $81.26 at start of May.

This is the infuriating aspect of Amazon's 'dynamic pricing'.

I had it on my wishlist at $15 but delayed in buying and the price increased fivefold.
Same thing with other items in my list and all these Amazon finds on ozb.

"this is $10… wait, someone bought one, make it $15… it's still selling, make it $30… or $50. Oh, no, it sold out".

Price is rising again - after response to this Deal.

        • Now $37.53…

Could probably come in useful in the bedroom too…

What do I have to buy to go with it for working on a roof please?

    • +1

All depends, but at minimum you will need a main line that's anchored, a working line attached to it with a karabina then another karabina attaching you to the working line with a prussic loop/knot.

      • Seems I've missed the deal. But where would I anchor the lines? I have a 2 storey house with a metal roof and it's quite scary up there. I've not gathered enough courage to go up there yet but wanted to know how to make it as safe as possible.

There's many ways and each roof is different. You can buy a saddle that attaches to the center of your roof and it can stay there permanently, then you attach your safety line to it and attach your safety line to you and your harness.

Or you can do it SES style, struggling to find a good picture to show the system but https://i.imgur.com/cVYWxCt.png

The thick yellow/green line is the main line which runs over the house and is pulled tight, and it's tightened off to a suitable anchors on each side of the house like trees, star pickets, vehicle etc.

You tie a loop in the center (alpine butterfly knot) and attach your safety line to that (the purple ones in the picture) and haul it up so the loop is in the center of your roof. How do you set it up without getting on the roof you ask? You get a thinner throw line and attach it to a tennis ball and throw it over, tie it to your main line and hoist over from the ground.

But most importantly, dont take roof safety advice from strangers on the internet lol. Seriously though be careful, and if in doubt get a tradie.
