Dry Biltong taste just like dry raw beef to me, below average, do not deserve the title of best tasting..

    • +5

Jaybot518 you talk about dry biltong. You should try jerky!!!!!!!!
The difference between jerky and biltong is that biltong is steak with spices rubbed on the outside. Jerky is thinly sliced steak which is soaked in our delicious marinade and then dried in the drying oven. Jerky you taste that delicious marinade where as biltong tastes more beefy.

Does the discount apply to biltong and Droewors too? Can't stand jerky but love my biltong!

At $59 a kilo for Jerky I've never tasted, how can I say no! rolls eyes

    • Try the sample that's being offered.

One local butcher here sells Jerky for $85 a kg.

We make our own jerky (not hard if you have a smoker box of some description and a dehydrator) and given the amount of weight that the meat loses in the drying process, $59 a kg isn't too bad a price, considering the prices charged for meat in a butchery

I think you guys should also mention that any orders over 2kg get free shipping.

    • The bright yellow banner on the page probably does that.

Unfortunately I am hesitant to buy untasted jerky. i purchased a kilo of Geronimo through an ozbargain deal - and it was so salty is was basically inedible. once bitten….

We are happy to supply a free sample. A small postage fee will apply.

      • +2

Details please?, happy to pay postage

        • +2

Details: We supply a small sample of chilli and traditional flavoured jerky and what ever the postage costs us we will charge you. It should not be more than a few dollars. Please email us at [email protected] with your request.

      • I too would be happy to pay postage (and even a reasonable cost) for a sample pack so I can see which ones I like and which ones I don't (if any! :) )

      • X 3

      • Me too!

      • Count me in as well.

      • lol, free sample, just pay shipping eh? ;-)

I would really recommend these guys, I've had the Geronimo samples in the past and I find the beef jerky from this site to be more focused on the quality of the meat rather than the quantity of flavouring. So I think you'll find it to be a lot less salty :)

  • +1

Hey as long as it doesnt take these guys 3 months to deliver the product (lol) plus from me :D

you have to buy 1kg? can you buy 100g, etc?

    • You can purchase small amounts. We can do a 40g packet of each flavour, chilli and traditional or you can purchase in 100g or 200g packets or 1/2kg packets. We will charge you the per kg price of $65.00 less 10% plus a small postage fee. Send an email to [email protected] with your request.

  • Do you have packs smaller than 1kg - thats a heck of a lot of jerky. I would rather get, say, 250g of each of the three flavours but I don't want 1kg of each.
The price per kg is good though.

BTW, apart from the shape, what is the diff between Dry Biltong, Jerky and Droewors. Do you like a mix pack to try some different items out?

Not sure what Droewors are thou haha

  • Tempting but as people have already said $60 is a lot of money for something I haven't tried. It would be great if you could offer a sample pack.

I purchased 1kg of their chilli and traditional Jerky a few weeks ago and i was very happy with the taste.
Chilli Jerky was not that hot which suited me. I have had Geronimo jerky as well and prefer D.Jays and it is cheaper.

  • It appears you can buy lots of 500g if you put 0.5 into the quantity box :)

  • Question for OP: Are the jerky and biltong powders listed on your page the same product you use yourselves?

  • I'm heading up that way later this week. Can I get the 10% off in-store?

    • Yes. Just say mention ozbargain and ask for the discount

  • Unencrypted checkout? No thank you.

    • Checkout is through PayPal. I'm pretty comfortable with their encryption.

      • Not if you select Visa/MasterCard at checkout. Businesses that accept credit card details unencrypted will never get my money regardless of whether or not they have alternatives that are.

This offer was decent a day or 2 ago where you paid $65/kg (beef jerky) prior to discount and shipping was free if 2kg was purchased. Now its $68/kg with no free shipping.

    A day or 2 ago = $117 for 2kg+shipping
    Currently = $122.4 + $11 for 2kg+shipping

    Difference = $133.4 - $117 = $16.4

Way to give us a decent deal then jack it up a few days later whilst removing free shipping for orders over 2kg.
