Thanks man. Thanks OP. Ive wanted one of these for ages. $177 for the 25 metre was enough to finally pull the trigger (no pun intended)!

    • +8

      It's the reel deal

    • +2

Ben Sims won't be happy 😲

      • +1

Get ready for a code change in his next video. I think I was the culprit of his last change…

Good hose reel, mine is 12 years old and still works perfect. Although the metal spray nozzle is absolutely rubbish. Heavy, uncomfortable and too many moving parts with frequent service needed of greasing, descaling the innards, replacing washer, etc etc. It's not a set and forget type spray nozzle. Also fragile, can't just drop it onto a hard surface.

    • +3

      I'm confused

is a good hose reel or a high maintenance reel?

      • +2

The reel is great. heavy duty. The spray nozzle is rubbish.

        • I totally agree. I've had the hoselink reel for 8 years, with no issues at all. The spray nozzle however has been in need of repair for a very long time. I simply need to get on with replacing it.

    • Can you recommend a good hand spray?

    • +1

Yeah i gotta say the spray trigger is pretty average. Had my hose for 5 years now. All the rest of the kit is great ( Hose, Connections). You can screw in 3rd party nozzle spray thingos if that helps

    • +1

I like the feel and function of the metal spray nozzle attachment. Better than the Hoselink plastic design it replaced. Mine has failed however (after 2 years), but I wouldn't mind getting another.

    • +1

You summed up the spray nozzle REALLY well. That piece of rubbish is the reason I've moved away from Hoselink and will not buy or recommend it.

  • +3

Seems a little stingy based on previous specials.

Don't they usually offer additional attachments to sweeten the deal?

I thought $179 for the 30m with a couple of bonus packs was a regular deal?

    • link?

I got one in December, which following my complaint was replaced, yet both reels are leaking, the first one more compared with the second one and they are Definitely not kinck free!! I wouldn't buy one again.

  • +1

I hate these things. I've used a few of them at my clients properties and they've all been junk. They leak, the fittings are bad. I would never consider one.

    • What would you suggest?

      • Clearly an avid Holman fan

    • what is your recommendation?

    • +1

I disagree that the fittings are bad. Their fitting are great. Never leak and so robust!

    • username checks out

What alternative product do you recommend?

      • +4

According to Choice Hozelock Auto Reel 2490 ranks as top retractable hose averaging 76%,whereas Hoselink is averaging 55% overall.

        • +3

Yep love Hozelock Costco had the 20m version for around $80 periodically.

        • +2

Yup I love hozelock, we bought the house with one installed in the back, last at least 10+ years. I just installed another one (from bunnings deal) at front. Couldn't be happier.

      • Delrico gets good reviews. But also pricey. I'm happy with my Hoselinks personally, but the hose connector do seem to need o-ring replacements every now and then to avoid leaking…

  • +2

It annoys me how often I think about buying one of these, simply because I hate rolling up my current hose which works fine.

    • I got two hoselinks a couple of years back. So happy every time I use them that I don't have to do the manual rolling up

  • I have a couple of nylex retractable reels at my house and they've been great so far.
I've installed numerous nylex in my clients gardens and at you far no problems with any of them.

  • Thanks op… Been waiting for months ✌️

  • +2

    wwhy are these so expensive..???

    • -3

      Because they are the best

    • Because they are Australian made. Oz made is expensive, hence why everyone buys ones made in China

      • +3

I think their website says they are designed in Australia but made in China and Taiwan.

      • +1

        Yes, NOT AUSTRALIAN MADE!

        • Well that sucks! And means they really shouldn't be as expensive as they are.

          • @PleasureMe: Actually I would say Taiwan is almost akin to Japan as far as manufacture goes.

            • @michal: No way!! Back in the day before China took over as the king of cheap manufacturing, Taiwan was known as the place where all the cheap stuff was made. If you give anybody the choice between Made in Japan or Made in Taiwan, smart people will choose Japan every time.

              • @PleasureMe: These same smart people were choosing made in the USA over made in Japan just before then.

  • how is this compared to $70-90 ebay brands???

    • I've had the 20metre one for about 5 years with regular use.
Not one problem with it so far.

  • +1

One of the best products and companies online. Customer service from these guys is second to none.

  • +3

Mother Hubbard that's an expensive hose.

  • Why buy this vs a $40 bunnings nobrand one and replacing 5 times over x years?

    • +1

Bunnings cheapest retractable is $75, so this is <3 replacements. And that's 10m not 30m.

And then there's the cost of three trips to Bunnings.

      • +2

        RIP environment

        • +1

          Right!

      • I got mine for $40. I think 15m. That's all I need. There's no guarantee mine or this one will last any time, warranty is a crappy 1yr.

  • +1

I’ve got one. Best hose ever.

  • Appears this uses non standard hose fittings? Wondering how I'm going to connect it to my Karcher?

  • Thanks OP, grabbed a 20m hose. Had to replace two hoses that I did not take care of and are now cracked and leaking.

  • +6

The insiders group run by hoselink has been riddled with complaints about the new parts breaking and hoses kinking while older modules never did and still don't. Even people complaining about leaking.
The general consensus is that it coincides with the moving of manufacturing offshore. Perhaps they tried to use cheaper materials at the same time.
My old parts are great, but I moved on to Hozelock for my latest hose and reel and it's cheaper and just as good as my older hoselink.

  • Ahh I remember this like it was yesterday - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/174486

  • Code not working, has it expired?

    • Probably got pulled or changed. The code wasn't supposed to be shared this widely.

  • +1

Any other code available please ? That 10% off is not working any more. 😔
