Samsung HW-Q90R 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos / DTS-X Soundbar - From $1245 + Delivery @ Vaudio Services + More

350

Hello.

Thought I'd share the best currently advertised prices I've found for the Samsung HW-Q90R soundbar to save people some time and effort.

Unfortunately deals like we saw back in February and March aren't presently available with demand outstripping supply I expect being the main cause.

Still if you don't feel like paying anywhere near the the listed price of $1795 @ Harvey Norman or $1999 @ JBHIFI these prices below still represent excellent value.

Deal 1. $1245 + delivery charges.
https://vaudioservices.com.au/store/soundbars/samsung-hw-q90…

Deal 2. $1244.10 + delivery charges. Currently can only be purchased on backorder.

Deal 3. $1299 + limited free shipping.

Deal 4. $1333 + delivery charges.
https://www.awardone.com.au/menu/part.asp?part=HW%2DQ90R

Deal 5. $1099 + delivery charges. A grade factory second. Out of stock currently but this routinely changes.

FWIW due to these businesses not providing the buy now pay later option I was after and a personal preference to shop locally I picked up this soundbar today from Harvey Norman for $1496 including local delivery. A saving of $299 off the listed price plus another $60 for the delivery. They matched the current pricing of https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/samsung-hw-q90rx…

I lacked the balls and I thought it would be a bridge too far to expect them to match the first 4 deals I've listed so I played it safe and went for the middle ground in negotiations.

Anyway I hope someone has found this useful.

Cheers,
Andrew

  • Might as well be associated with the store for writing up such a detailed post

Also, looks like only shipping within QLD

  • Decent little system, rears aren't really loud enough though (they sound great with the atmos demos so they can sound good and loud enough) . I had an issue on day two I had set everything up the day before, I came home and it done an auto update and it bricked itself (not sure if it was the smart things app or the unit itself but there was no input from me), after a bit of back and forth with support the main board had to be replaced, been fairly solid since.

Also still awaiting a proper earc update from samsung that has been promised for a while gingerrs crossed . Ebay had a 10% offer when I got mines a few weeks ago so was just a bit more than deal five.

  • +1

I've been wanting to buy these since the last Good Guys ebay deal. (20% off came down to $1036+shipping) Hoping it was close to the last deal. This is a very good price nevertheless

  • Brilliant soundbar. Bought mine 5 months ago after extensive auditioning of several options.

    • Do soundbars sound better/good as the traditional surround system with two rear speakers 5.1?

      • IMO sound bar won’t come close to a decent 5.1 system but then that is probably gonna cost you at least three times if not more as compared to the price OP paid. Another advantage with a home theatre is that you can start small with 2.1 OR just stereo and build it up by overtime by investing in good speakers. Then all you would need to do in future is change the AVR if and when required for upgrades etc

        • Thank you for your comments. $1200 is not cheap though. I have a 5.1 amp with the speakers but is just setup for 2.0 (L and R), have kids, hard to route the cables to the rear going across and door way, no wall to go around. So someone will trip… Thanks again.

+1 for the research. Good work mate!

  • This or the new Sonos Arc?

  • This is a bloody good soundbar. Love it. Worth every penny.

  • Been looking for the last month or two and hoping for a sub $1k deal. Best in could find was good guys commercial for $1245, but it’s currently unavailable. I reckon Harvey Norman could have come down to $1245 if you were to price match these linked stores.

  • Bought one at the nice price earlier. Sold it on the weekend.

It shines with high quality sources (Atmos, dts etc etc). Rubbish otherwise.

Music is average, rear surrounds are waaaay too quiet. Sound modes are lacking and the recent update started dropping out my subwoofer all of a sudden.

    • Are you thinking of replacing with a new soundbar? Which one would you suggest?

      • I didn't. I have seperate setups in other rooms, this was just overkill in a bedroom.

I value music performance, so Soundbars aren't something I can ever really like. For typical 2 channel stereo this is really average.

    • someone else on the Samsung forums mentioned the sub issue and there was some steps to resync it which reportedly fixed the issue.

Had similar issues with the previous model, the n950. Returned mine at the time.
Seems odd that the same issues are popping up on the newer model.

Managed to price match at $1299 at JB HI FI

    • What JB was that?

      • Knox

        • Are you still happy with it?

          • @misterpotatomato: I price matched it but never ended up getting it. Read too many reviews where the rear speakers disconnect.
Ended up settling on the Bose 700 soundbar/sub for $1740

  • great sound bar had it for a few months now, paired with a 2019 shield pro and plex, atmos work extremely well.

  • Wonder if they will update these seeing as they were released last year

I'm comparing this to the new LG SN11RG sound bar. Struggling to find any comparisons or reviews!

leaning towards the LG cause i have a LG c9 and i like google home over alexa but not sure if that makes a difference?

  • I dont own this. But the number of people I've come across saying they experience drop outs is frightening.

  • I have the k950. Do these have the frequent rear and sub woofer and the buzzing in the rears?

  • Can someone who owns this speaker please somehow send me (or let me know) the picture of the remote that comes with this. My friend and I also have this but we have different remote controls, they look quite similar but the buttons are a bit different. I don’t know who got the correct remote, if someone can show, then I will be able to tell which one is correct. Thank you.

  • A sound bar will never be able to truely reproduce 5 channels of sound as a true ht system can. The reason they sell is because compared to true ht they are cheap, easy to setup, and for most ppl produce a " good enough" sound. No self respecting home theatre hobbyist would be seen with a sound bar.

  • I’d recommend Sony HT-Z9RF
