    great app and price!

  • +2

Good price, but was cheaper, US$0.99/AU$1.49, on 15-17 May.

    • -1

ya, got it when it was 1.49

      • +9

        Thanks for posting it here……

      • Pretty sure I got it for free like 9 years ago.

  • Great app, but only the apple ecosystem. No web, no android.

  • Can anyone please tell me why I need this over say Goodnotes?

    • I used to take notes in Goodreader, so I can’t tell you.

    very noob q; what's difference with pages/word?

    • +5

      Word = Microsoft
      Pages = Apple

      • +2

I know this ahah thanks for clarifying but

I mean what has this app got that pages or word don't

        • +1

oh! You can sync multiple sources e.g. dropbox, drive, other third party apps. It's probably more closer to OneNote (than Word) when using it on a tablet if you have that - you can draw/write anywhere easier vs. in rows and columns.

        • I use this app on my ipad to write and draw. Now I can sync them to my macbook

        • +1

This is more of a note taking app which is meant for apple pencil. Then it naturally progressed to mac os as well for continuity and reading notes etc.

  • Apparently the iOS version of this app is great and I was about to try it out, however the reviews (especially the most recent ones) don't seem to be amazing (2.8 stars). I think I'll give this a pass for now though I'm willing to take a dive for the iOS version.

    • -1

So you're going to trust the 1 guy who gave a 2 star but ignore the 5k people who gave 5 stars. Lol

      • 1 star guy opinion matters

        SLM

  • Ready to pull the trigger
but found the rating is a bit diverse
(1 stars ratings over 5 stars?)

Great app. But GoodNotes is free on Mac if you bought on iOS

    • what? how? I have goodnotes on iOS but its showing as 10.99 on Mac…

edit: nvm figured it out. thanks for the heads up tho

  • Moved to Notion based on the last deal and loving it.

  • Notability on iPad is great.
Haven't tried Mac but think it wouldn't be too different?

  • +2

Any opinions on this vs OneNote?

  • +1

Thought I might throw this out there, recently Apple made a change that allowed developers to provide paid Mac apps for free if the user has purchased the iOS version of the app already. This happened with GoodNotes which was paid on the Mac AppStore but now is free if you have purchased the iOS version. Im expecting the same for Notability, they have been discounting the price of this purchase more and more. Probably because they're going to make it a free purchase for existing users at some point.

    • +1

Does that apply in the opposite direction also? ie buy on MacOS get for iOS for free?

      • I believe so but only once this change is activated by the developer. If you buy this version of Notability you won’t get the iPad version of the app (think of them as two different apps).

  • Amazing app, very flexible with all types of work. Loved it

  • This is a classic app, from the early days of iPad.

  • How does this compare to OneNote?

    • Less platform support by far and I find it best when marking up a PDF.

      Everything else I use OneNote.

  • I have this app for some time. The iOS version is fantastic but the Mac version is a junk. It even messes up your notes. It cannot load your notes in folders correctly and it messes up everything if you edit using it.
    It is so bad.

  • I used this on my iPad at uni, it was really good for the job.

  • Why do people need this app on a Mac? It’s made for note taking with an Apple Pencil and ipad

    • +1

Sharing data between devices is critical for me and perhaps others.

      • Ahh yes that makes sense. I usually just put everything in the cloud personally.
