price too scary to put in the title, just pull one from hard rubbish and lift the lid, worth the savings

Thanks OP. I've seen these go on Gumtree for $350 used, archive your childhood photos for $50 sounds good to me.

    • +2

      $50?!

      • +1

Buy one for $399, sell for $350.

        • Oh that's what dollarydoos meant!

  • Great deal

  • Officeworks price beat?

  • -1

If you want to be extra dodgy, you can buy it from officeworks, scan all your photos in a couple of hours/days and then return it afterwards.

    • Sounds about right!
I used to work at Dick Smith when I was younger and there was a 30-day return policy.
Around Grand Final day, people would come in and buy (at the time) 55" LCD TVs for $3k and then return them a week later, conveniently after the Grand Final, Race Day etc.
Or digital cameras around school holidays 😂

So strange they went out of business…

  • Great scanner - even just for documents. A steal!

  • Awesome thanks! Wanted to get one of these but been holding back due to the price.

    Just ordered!

Unfortunately OW has no stock in shops or even the warehouse so they couldn't price beat :(

  • Pricemateched with Officeworks, $379.05 pickup, thanks OP!

  • purchased one of these from Office Works previously.

Office Works can price match delivery in store, and you can even pay with Coles/Myer gift cards.

Pretty much got the price back then selling on eBay.

Only thing was a found a few more photos that I missed scanning.

  • I don't have paper photos. But I have a lot of multi-page documents and receipts.
Is this model as good as dedicated "document model"?

Also what is the chance Epson drop support for these scanners in a year a two?
I have never had Epson scanner.
In the past I had Canon scanner and Canod didn't release drivers for the next operating system. I understand they want more sales but I expect $400-$600 scanners to last more than a year or two.

    • I use this scanner for documents most of the time. It's awesome. It's basically a document scanner that comes with some software to scan photos. I understand they optimised the mechanism to enable it to scan photos better than their conventional document scanners. Epson have been making dedicated document scanners for years. Yes, they might drop them one day but they keep coming out with new models, so there must be demand. Mine gets a lot of use. I've had three or four models over the last 10 years and they've all been great.

      • Thank you for the feedback.
Did Epson dropped support for all your scanners?

        Also how is software?
A friend of mine got Fujitsu SanpScan. He is saying the scanner is awesome but the software feels outdated.

I really want document scanner but can't make up my mind.
Canon upset me in the past. Brother scanners looks good but according to people software no better than Fujitsu.

        • Just use vuescan drivers for your old scanner - W10 support and usually better drivers than factory.

Do you know how it compares to the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 which is a very popular scanner?

I'm thinking of replacing my ScanSnap. It drives me nuts, it has a bad habit of producing vertical lines when dust gets on the scanner glass, even though I keep the internals meticulously clean and give it a blast with compressed air can before use.

I bought the Brother unit there and it's excellent 👍

  • Good price!

I couldn't believe my luck when I saw this in stock and at this price as I've been waiting for a replacement for months. Too good to be true it turns out though. The Good Guys ran this special knowing that it is on long-term back order and they're not expecting the stock for another month. I said to the rep but it said In Stock - she said yeah the website says everything is in stock. They are such shit people. I've had nothing but issues with them - I think this will be the last time I buy there.

Thanks for sharing. I'm in no rush but would have appreciated some communication about delays. So far just radio silence since taking my money.

Still no update from TGG… Hope they're not backing out on this deal.

    • Where are you located? Were you given a contact number?. I have spoken to someone a couple of times. Was given some updates but still no scanner.

    Update….

Even though I ordered online - I received a phone call from my local branch (Pakenham) to sort out delivery details. Ordered on 10/6 and this morning received a phone call from Pakenham, to ask if I still wanted to wait…..

I'm in no rush, so I said yes. Would be interesting to know how many others are waiting

    • Is it just me or do the Pakky TGG shelves look empty?
Went past a few weeks ago for a fridge and it was like a ghost town in there
Looks like they're on the ball with your order, at least

  • Still waiting here. It is managed by your local store. Is it supposed to be illegal to sell something you never had? Feels like we've just boosted their cash flow.

    Update

I just called my store Malaga in WA and they said that they are waiting for units from the supplier and were told that it will be no later than the end of September

    • Thanks for the update! Hopefully that date isn't just something they pulled out of thin air.

    • Still waiting here as well…
