Nice find. Wish Cat and dog comes on sale.

  • Good one.Thanks.

  • -1

Isn't the CX3 better? Wait until another good guys sale to get it for $280?

    • +13

      I don't think you can compare a car to a vacuum cleaner…

    • Yes I got excited thinking this was the CX3 but it's not. I'll wait for said deal too.

Actually it's the C3 I want, the bagged version.

      • +5

yeah this was the one I got back in March.

Was on special for $349, then with Good Guys Ebay code 20% off, got it for $279. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Miele-10797840-Complete-C3-A…

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/522749

The suction on it is phenomenal. I'm currently running it at second from lowest suction so I can move the vacuum over carpet hehe.

I plugged it into my power meter, at full speed it runs at 1400w, on the suction setting I'm using it's only using 700w or so. Very reasonable on power considering some of those cheap Kmart vacuums use 2400w and don't have anywhere near the same suction.

In addition, it's so damn quiet!! You can easily have a conversation next to it unlike some vacuums.

        • Thanks for the info, that's exactly the model I on my buy list once it goes on sale!

But I am surprised about the volume, I assumed they'd be loud as hell so that's a nice bonus indeed!

For $279 it's a steal! I hope they have another deal for EOFY

        • You can also slide the panel on the handle open to temporarily reduce suction power

    • +2

Broom Broom instead of Zoom Zoom

  • How's it compare to this https://www.amazon.com.au/Miele-10797760-Complete-All-Rounde… ? Wonder if a bag version would be easier in the long run.

    • +1

      I prefer bagged version myself.

    • +10

Always buy bagged over bagless. More hygienic, longer lasting, better suction, less maintenance.

      • -1

I don't have the link handy but on eBay somewhere you can buy 16 genuine bags for these for around $80-90 from memory. For me that is the next >5 years taken care of.

  • Thanks o/p have been monitoring price for this as well.

  • CX3 seems to be only slightly more, and looks to have better reviews. Depends i suppose if you prefer bagless, to bagged?
I myself am hanging out for a good price on the cx3 cat/dog

According to 3 Camels it was $329 in November.

  • +5

Are these made in China or Germany?

After using Dyson cordless, which takes less than 12 mins to clean the entire house, I find it pain to use wired machines. Takes 20+ minutes atleast and more pain switching the plug points and dragging the machine around which keeps bumping into things. Wired one good for carpets though.

    • +6

I have the V6, and it's hopeless. On floorboard surface, debris goes everywhere because of the rotating head, on the car carpet, it does a mediocre job. I always have to take my Miele out for the car. I only use the Dyson cordless for quick odd job around the kitchen.

    • +2

I've used a Dyson cordless and whilst it is handy for a quick whip around the tiled areas, it's useless for everything else. Hopeless suction compared to the Miele and poor battery life.

Use an extension cord if you don't want to change power points. Miele vacuums actually have long power cords so I only have to change it once in my house. Don't know why you say takes 20 mins, it takes me 2 minutes to get mine out, and the rest of the time is vacuuming which would be the same cordless vs corded anyway.

      • +1

We have tiles all around and it has never been a problem. For every other day we have the roborock s6 that does everything automatically. The wired dyson hasn’t come out since 6 months :)

      • +1

I've owned top of the line Mieles and they are 10/10 for bagged.

I also had a v8, now v11 and neither were useless. Both had incredible suction, replaced battery with upgraded capacity via eBay.
        No issues with vacuuming whatsoever.

Both Miele and Dyson are great - pick either but pick from the top range.

        It's not like a CPU where a 3100 can do a great job like a 3500.

    • 12 min is very quick to clean a house, is it really clean though?

      • +2

Tiled house and no pets. Yes as good as cleaning with a corded vacuum. The battery is getting old and I get 14 mins on it, so I remove all the obstacles and then continuously clean. No changing plugs and no dragging around.

        • +1

How often do you empty the canister?

          • +1

            @ganymede: Usually after 2 or 3 sweeps.

            • @John Doh: Here's the problem, the sole function of a vacuum cleaner is to clean, while lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner makes cleaning easier (i.e. efficient) but ultimately how clean (i.e. effective) is most important.

You said you empty the canister every 2 or 3 clean, not sure which Dyson you have, the V8 has a 0.58L bin while the V10 has a 0.76L, assuming you empty the bin when it is full meaning your cordless vacuum only collected 0.58L - 0.76L of dust around the house after 2-3 clean. For comparison, my cheap ass Hoover Performer 3000 bagged vacuum cleaner with a 2L dust capacity will be full of dust and hair after 2-3 clean for a 4x2 house, 2 adults, 1 kid, no pet. Granted I might live in a more dusty area but your 0.58L - 0.76L after 2-3 cleans is almost nothing, hence my question on so is it really clean?

Same thing can be said about robo vac, yes you can see the robo vac buzzing around "cleaning" the house, one of my friend has an iRobot Roomba i7, she swears by it and proudly said she only have to empty the bin once every 2 weeks. So, only 0.5L of dust collected in two weeks? Is it really clean? It begs you to ask the question how much dirt/dust is left on the floor.

It is like the guy at work constantly saying he is very busying running around doing work but when you dig deeper, he just busy running around doing nothing.

              • @ganymede: Let me begin by saying i have a decent amount of OCD, so if I see dust or hair, I wont be happy. Now coming to the vacuum cleaners, there are 2 types. One that uses sheer suction power to vacuum and then those that does not have enough suction power, but uses a rotary head to clean. The Dyson V7 I have comes with 2 important heads for floor cleaning, mainly soft roller head for tiles and carpet roller heads for carpets. The Miele cat and dogs version also comes with a rotary brush cleaner head.

I do not know if you use a rotary brush head vacuum cleaner, so let me go and explain it. With the "dyson soft roller cleaner head" (google it for images), the head rotates and pulls in all the dust and literally throws it into the vacuum pipe. Because this rotary head rotates so fast, it will be as clean as sweeping + wiping the floor with a dry towel! So not a hair or dust remains behind. Of course if there are large debris like peanut, twigs etc on the floor, the handheld struggles and you might need more than a single pass to pick them up, but it more than makes up for it in terms of convinience.

So does it clean as good as pure suction powered corded vacuum cleaner that sounds like jets? In my opinion it does because of the soft rollers "wiping effect". In fact, one can lie down on the floor (or even roll on the floor, lol) and getup without getting their cloths dirty. Now is that clean enough? For me, definitely a yes. In fact, if you use a corded cleaner after using dyson, i would say, you may get a spoonful more of dust? that too from the corners and not from the main area. Thats good enough for daily cleaning.

Recently we got Roborock S6 (not the average joe that cleans the same area again and again dumbly), this thing cleans very well too and is considered the worlds best robovac. Because of this, the dyson stick does not get used that frequently. The dyson ball corded vacuum we have(which also has a roller brush) rarely gets used, it hasnt come out in 6 months.

I honestly do not understand why many people complain dyson hand helds do not do a good job. Are they using it for carpets? Or hardfloor with cracks in it? I honestly do not know.

Coming to the house, we definitely do not live in a dusty area, but with 2 kids living in the house, we definitely have to clean everyday.

        • So you are running on a deadline of 14 mins and that's why you finish in 12 mins. You should add the time to remove obstacles to the 12 mins you mentioned earlier :)) Just joking btw. I use a bagged Miele and would never go to any non-bagged vacuum just because of one factor - hygiene.

          • @thriftyozzie: Can you please explain the hygiene factor? Bagged or Unbagged the dry dust goes to the collection chamber and collects there. The Hepa filter filters all the dust and minute particles. How does bagged really help? I earlier had a bagged vacuum cleaner long back and I was happy switching to a non-bagged ones. I could just press a button and clear the contents into a dustbin rather than taking the bag off, clearing and putting it back properly.

            • @John Doh: Dust rises in the air when you empty the dyson/bagless equivalent - that's the only caveat.

            • +1

@John Doh: Did you have a Miele bagged one? Let's make sure we are comparing Miele and not any bagged vac. Not sure which brand you used as you haven't mentioned. I have been using mine for 2+ years now and after 24+ months the container that holds the bag is super clean which does prove the bag catches almost all the dust. The other non-visible particles are caught by the other replaceable filter. When the bag is full its a matter of pulling it out and putting the whole thing into the red-bin. Whereas you might have noticed every time you empty the contents of your Dyson a lot of dust just flies back out. Onto the surrounding area, onto you, into your respiratory area. Just try doing that outside the house on a sunny day and you will see exactly what I mean. If you think 100% of the contents just obey gravity and settle at the bottom of your dustbin you are kidding yourself! On a planet without an atmosphere, this may be true though. Also how many times have you changed your HEPA filter? They are susceptible to tears and a small tear becomes a big hole pretty quickly and then you are pretty much catching only the bigger dust particles.

              • @thriftyozzie: Hmm, the one I had was eureka forbes, and we used to reuse the bags. Anyways, that was looong back and I understand what you mean by hygiene now. But then since the handheld bin is smaller, we are forced to empty it often not allowing for large amount of dust to get filled in the first place. We empty the cleaner into a small dustbin kept outside the house and not worry much about the little dust flying around, nobody dust sensitive/allergic in our house.

And the Hepa filter are usually cardboard consistancy and will not tear (atleast not in the ones I have used). It will further continue to get clogged allowing less and less dust to come out. It needs clearning once it a while and I do it by blowing it with a vacuum cleaner in reverse direction. Maybe it wears eventually, but I am OK with that as I am yet to develop an allergy/cold with the air coming out of the vacuum cleaner.

    • +1

Agreed. While a Miele cat and dog has better performance than a Dyson V10, you can't beat the convenience. The only thing we miss is the Miele turbo head, it did a better job on the carpets since we have pets

    • Yes, if you don't have carpet, don't buy this.

  • Only difference between the Multi-Floor and the Cat and Dog is the attachments. Blue model has parquet floor head and the Cat and Dog has the Turbo Brush.

You can buy that separately on Amazon for $145 with the Multi-Floor and you're still in front.

  • +4

My Miele hasn't been used once since I got my Dyson V10. They are great vacuum cleaners though.

    • I agree and it makes cleaning more fun than a chore.

      • Really?

Well give me your number and whenever my floors need a clean I'll give you a call and make you happy as a pig in $#!t.

        • Just because somebody enjoys cooking does not mean they will like to go and cook at others house. :P And pigs don’t clean. It’s the pigs who likes to live in dirt rather than cleaning it.

      • This happens whenever you get some new appliance, the novelty will wear off

        • To an extent I agree, since we got the Roborock S6 it does half the work. But there are days in between when we still use Cordless vac.

  • this or a Robovac for the same price?

    • +1

no comparison for the suction power, however, I still use my robo vacuum more often than my Miele vacuum for convenience. If I really want to clean an area properly, I would be using the Miele.

      • -2

Good call, we still have a Miele serving for years now.

no comparison for the suction power,

        On me exes resumee

    • +1

I have a Miele C3 and it rarely gets used since we got our Roborock S50. Really we only use the C3 for stuff like skirting/cobwebs and to occasionally do a deeper clean of the carpet. That said, it's probably because most of our house is laminate so suction power doesn't matter as much. If you have a lot of carpet you might benefit from the extra suction.

      • -1

We pulled out all dirty thick carpets the house came with. :) good to know - next unit will be robo for convenience

        dirty thick

        Also me ex

        • +1

Nice! That'll make things much easier to clean for sure. The Roborock has been super handy, especially now that the app has stuff like room detection/cleaning. It's also really easy/cheap to get replacement parts for e.g. filters/dustbin/brushes. One problem I have is that I often get a 'laser distance sensor malfunction' error with the S50. There's a method for "fixing" it which involves undoing a few screws and hooking a 9V battery up to a motor. It's perfectly do-able, just can be a pain but YMMV.

All that being said, it might be safer to opt for a newer model like the S6 when they go on sale ;)

  • but this is by far the cheapest.

    It’s been $329
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/500669

    • Thanks.

  • +2

I got this for a similar price from applicancesonline

Good suction and great wheel design moves any direction

Annoyances are no power switch on the handle and the dust bin is a terrible design the way the lid closes on a piece of rubber that always gets dusty so you have to wash it out every time

Because of the annoyances I wouldn’t buy again

  • Word of advice from someone who used to sell these: the miele bagless units are fricking heavy.

  • -1

Word of warning- called Miele and they said Miele wont cover for any warranty issues.

    • Why the hell not? It's from Amazon AU, not US.

      • Miele australia said Not covered.

    • Why ? What went wrong ? How old is your vacuum ?

      • Doing my research before I pull the pin. Looks like will pass.

        • +2

Great vacuum - the cleaning of the bagless system is a little complicated as it has 3 sections to open and clean. But the suction is amazing. The sound is lower than expected - the any direction wheels make it very maneuverable.

          I would buy again.

          Good review here
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4k45bwYVsY

    • +3

That makes 0 sense whatsoever. They probably think you purchased from Amazon US. It's the law. Anyway Amazon looks after warranty issues pretty well

  • +1

I've got one. It's Good. Emptying compared to other vacuums isn't that straight forward and the yellow clip to keep in it can sometimes be sticky, so every thing will just fall out, all over the floor. The dust filter cleans itself though which is cool. Great suction and does take a bit to fill compared to cheaper ones.

A huge problem is that the container comes in to parts and the top part plastic doesn't lock into well and over the 4 months I've had it, the locking mechanism (plastic) has become shredded. I don't know how much longer it will last.

    • Yes I'm worried about the bin issues long term

Deal breaker IMO plus the lack of power buttons or power adjustment on the handle sucks majorly

Better off with an Electrolux canister with on/off power controls on the handle that has a tried and tested design albeit a bit heavier

Something like this (there are many)

      https://www.catch.com.au/product/electrolux-zsp4302pp-silent…
      https://www.catch.com.au/product/electrolux-silentperformer-…

I had an ultracaptic and I didn't bother to clean it for 2 years then replaced all the filters was like new again until something got stuck in the mechanism after 4 years and I couldn't be bothered to service it

  • +1

Beep boop, you made a factual error!

    https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0787R3NKD

The cheapest by far was $329.00 on Nov 29, 2019.

Although the average price seems to be $504.88, so this is still a great price.
