  • Have LG improved the screens with OLED? Ive noticed some green stains show up but only for some colours in the same sections of my Panasonic OLED, hard to not see them now. I have to replace it as I cant live with that, but QLED might be my next purchase. Dont get me wrong I loved the image originally but a few years service is not long enough to me for the price.

And yeah, Ive run the panel maintenance more than once, zero effect.

You can try a pixel refresh pattern video… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpeLXoqyiyA

If you want, ask the retailer for replacement or repair, and chase up the warranty.

You can process a claim up to 8 years for any faults which have developed, with consumer law, since TVs with a premium value have an expected longevity of 5+ to 8+ years. Just go to the retailer if Panasonic gives you grief or refuses to repair.

And if the retailer fobs you off, you should be able to get the ACCC or your local consumer rights org. I nearly went through this with the 3D being terrible on the 2015 LG, but I only used it… 4 times and I haven't thought about wanting 3D in years.

A Youtube video can’t put the colour back, but it’s designed for gradual calibration of brightness and intensity of the screen. The proper panel refresh is more intense, whereas the patterns video tries to exercise the sub pixel and the image / motion processing.

Usually this is better for "stuck pixels" on LCD but the technology is similar.

There are some test pattern variations that are more like kaleidoscopes to try and reduce grey distortion and banding, but it’s part of the early adoption process for OLED. Early Plasmas had some terrible burn in.

  • Keep in mind that if you're holding out for the 48 inch model, it isn't coming to Australia :(

    • +1

I’d hope that’s not the case, but it also hasn’t arrived in the US yet either in large numbers.

EU has been shipping the 48CX, there’s YouTube reviews out, which should make it very easy to get approvals for import (Wi-Fi & power & DVB-T2) not sure about UK stock.

As far as @LG_Australia marketing on Twitter is aware, https://twitter.com/LG_Australia/status/1250219023637164032?…

If it’s slated for Q3, then it’s on track with the second phase of the OLED rollout since March at CES / whatnot. I think it’s along with the proposed WX model and if they can get the tech working/mass produced ( I think they had a working demo in CES 2017 ?) the rollable OLED which either pushes up from a box… or unrolls down from the ceiling.

I think there’s also nano models coming later with larger sizes , but nobody cares about LG QLED, only the OLED.

  • Can you tell me what the price of the 55” CX is?

    • +1

OLED55CXPTA is $2804 and has been for a few weeks now. I'm waiting for price to drop a bit more.

      • Cheers keo!

      • How likely is it to drop do you reckon?

People seem to be saying the CX won't drop in price until closer to the end of the year. It seems unlikely that we'll see an EOFY sale with the CX, yeah?

    • Can anyone also tell me what the price of the 65" CX is as well? Trying to decide if its worth obtaining the GG commercial membership.

  • Can try to bargain at JB hi-fi. For a 65" CX

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/538156

    • $3750 a bargain? C9 65 dropped to $2800, now sold out. OLEDs are expected to sell for less compare to last year prices.

      • Considering the current prices for the new model.

  • Does anyone know if you can use JB Hi-Fi giftcards at the Good Guys. I figure you probably can't but they are the same company these days.

  • Do you have to pay delivery fees with good guys commercial? And are they exhorbitant?

    • +1

just checked, same price as regular good guys website. $35 Sydney delivery or free pick up at store.

  • +1

    • +1

  • CX seems to be about the same as the GX, just not wall mounted.

    • +1

You cannot wall-mount the CX versions, is that right?

  • Sorry to bump post, but can someone help me out with a GGC price on a Hisense 75P7 or equevilant?
