With the Atomos Connect Convert TC | SDI to HDMI you can use affordable consumer monitors to display professional video signals. Timecode remains embedded in the video signal and will be overlaid. Audio VU meters are also overlaid for quick audio level analysis.
Sometimes, to get a video or audio signal to where it needs to go, it must be converted. In 2017, Atomos announced its Connect Convert signal converters alongside other useful video tools. Every studio or pro video equipment inventory should include converters to tackle signal compatibility problems as they arise.

The most basic converters are the tiny Connect Convert HDMI to SDI and SDI to HDMI. These converters are color-coded in red and allow consumer video gear to interface with professional equipment and vice versa. SD and HD video are supported. Both models have an additional SDI output for loop-through. The Connect Convert TC model has extra connections for timecode. After the SDI signal is converted, the outgoing HDMI signal will have the timecode overlaid, for convenient reference while monitoring. This provision adds timecode monitoring to displays that can’t show SDI metadata. Moving on to the yellow-clad Connect Convert Scale hardware, these HDMI to SDI and SDI to HDMI converters take the conversion one step further. Not only can they convert the connection type, but they can up- or down-scale the signal to ensure compatibility with finnicky switchers and screens that don’t have built-in scalers. Conversions are done with minimal latency, so these devices will hold up in broadcast workflows where timing is of the essence.
These converters are small and built to handle the rigors of professional production, and can be securely mounted using the included detachable ears. All converters also have locking connectors to prevent signal loss due to disconnection of video or power cables.

You won't get timecode and VU meter overlays with the mini converters.

  • Calling out all BVM owners. (me)

  • Wait, SDI is coax?

So can I use my NES with my TV with this?

Nah, coax just refers to the way a cable is constructed. The signals are totally different.
