  • Quiet, noiseless operation

I like to use a fan for white noise, are these a no-go?

    • +1

They do make noise, softly at setting 2, and louder than from there. In the app there is 99 speed adjustments to get it exactly how you want it. There is also the natural wind mode but that's probably not what you're after.

I have mine working drying clothes on racks in winter and ready for cooling me in summer.

      • Do you have to use smart phone to control or a remote?

        • There are 2 buttons on the fan itself to control, one is for on/off and steps between 4 speeds, and the other turns oscillation on/off.

To adjust oscillation angle or any further speed steps, natural wind mode or timers you need the app. There is a basic remote available but it's an extra purchase.

          • @bamzero: Yeah as bamzero said. Between the free up and the physical buttons, you're all covered. I found out by accident my Google Home recognises it too, so now it can turn it on/off but lacks the advanced control features like rotate etc.

Apparently it simulates natural wind .. No thanks!

    • Well, better than copping the real thing in your face…

    • Only if you turn on that option..

  • Is this the one with the stupid auto-shutoff feature after being left on for a while (can't remember how many hours exactly). edit: It doesn't seem to be..can't find it anywhere on the specs.

    • Not that I'm aware, have forgotten it on for the day (couldn't hear it at min speed) so guessing not though.

Not mixing it up with the filters that switch back to auto from turbo mode after 3 hours?

    • +2

it has a battery. so when running on a battery is dead it will "stupid auto-shutoff"

  • Love this fan, saved me in summer. Had it in my bedroom on the lowest setting at night and slept beautifully! Good price.

    • Does it blow a decent amount of air on highest setting?

      • Absolutely!

  • it's a good fan.

But buyer beware, Kogan will send the AU plug cable separately and it may get lost in the mail—as mine may have after 3 weeks of ownership.
So do yourself a favour and purchase an adaptor from Kmart or somewhere else just in case yours gets lost in the mail.

    • It uses a standard 3 pin clover leaf type cable (IEC-C5) as found with many laptop power supplies so you may already have one lying about too.

  • So I used this fan as an aid to help create some air circulation in the kitchen in an effort to fan air towards the rangehood and kitchen window, whilst cooking steak and some other heavily fragrant Asian cooking… Somewhat helped I guess.

After a few times of use, I noticed that the fan components ended up with a layer of oily residue! Was not expecting that after a few nights worth of the aforementioned cooking!!!

Fortunately the fan is easily detachable and was easy to wash with detergent.

Got me wondering how a few nights worth of cooking gets the fan a layer of oil residue… Yuck!

Anyone else that's used for the same purpose experienced the same?
