    • I'd like to know the answer to this as well .

    • +1

Just shopped, I can confirm you get 5% off. $97.50 for a $100 eBay card and 2000 points is not a bad deal :-)

      • Agree :)

        • Great stuff, other items are 10% off, but GCs only 5% right

  • can ebay gift cards be used to purchase WOW gift cards on ebay?

    • +1

      No

  • Hoping to cancel my EBAY orders so I can grab these gift cards

  • plenty 50/100 left at Doncaster Westfield, confirmed 100 can earn 2000 rewards points.

  • Heaps $50 and $100 at Revesby.

Can confirm $100 gives you $10 worth of points

  • Has anyone tried to buy those gift cards using WISH e-gift card? Sorry if it’s been asked before.

    • +1

no, cant. Cant even use woolworth dollars to buy gift cards now.

    • I think Woolies' staff and the system has caught up with this. I used to be able to at my local woolies until late last year, not anymore. Can't even buy sim cards with Gift cards.

  • -2

Definitely one of the deals of the year.

    Thanks TA.

    • calm down, it's equivalent of getting only 10% off

      • Come on, it’s off everything on eBay. And can be applied to the best price you can find anywhere. Agree it’s one of the best deals of the year

  • Plenty at macedon plaza woolies

  • +1

Confirmed 10x$100 ebay get 20000 points instant

    • Same here, used the credit immediately to recharge my Opal card :)

      • nice

      • +1

At least someone is using public transport.

  • I was asked if I wasn't paying someone as part of scam lol

    • Same here. Store manager asked for ID. And I responded with a request for policy on this requirement on purchasing Gift cards.

      • +1

its just for yours and their protection,
ive been asked randomly for 3, 5, 10 cards, and always give it
the more you be difficult the more chance they may put you on their "black" list

    • I know but surely with a 10% off promotion they should know ( correction if they think a little ) why there is a huge increase in action on these cards .

  • long as the card gets checked out at woolies pos then we good right? doesn't matter where the physical card comes from

    • +1

Yes but do make sure you don't get caught taking the not activated cards from some other places, because it is still classed as stealing.

      • -3

I disagree if you take it to another store of Woolies and activate/pay for it no way your going to be charged with stealing .
Effectively worth 0 before the activation .

  • How does buyer protection work when paying via gift cards on ebay? Ive always relied on PayPal for safety reasons in not getting possibly scammed and getting my money back. Has anyone had any bad experiences?

    • Definitely not a good idea to use the giftcards if you foresee any problems with the seller. Always use paypal+credit card for double protection to be sure.

    • I would say yes in terms of buyer's protection in paypal even paying full amount with GC
I just purchased the $99 air fryer with eBay GC this morning and still receive the paypal payment email with $0 amount

as long as the transaction is logged in paypal, you get the protection

  • Just bought 5 eBay $50 GC
Paid with HSBC Everyday Global Debit card get extra 2% bonus Cash back ($5)

    So theoretically paying $195 for $250 GC ($50 WW + $5 cashback)

    • 1000 pts per $50 card. You should get 5000 pts worth $25

      • Oh yes, sorry bad in calculation :)

    • you did seperate transactions right?

      • Yes, just ask to split into $90 each
they are more willing to do that now because many just don't want to touch the keypad of the EFTPOS machine

        • +1

Just be mindful that HSBC might decline your card after a few transactions.
I did 3x$90 and the next transactions were declined with the HSBC card.
So you might want to split in separate transactions with some time in between.

Plenty of money on the card though.
The cashier also asked me to not use them for supposed ATO transactions/fees or fines and cautioned me to be mindful of scams …

  • Does anyone know if there is pay pal buyers protection if the purchases are made with ebay gift card but using pay pal as method of payment?

  • +2

I bought 100 card on HSBC and paid 10 cash, to get the 2% off (nearly)

  • bought $200 GC as first transaction then paid 5x Pana ice creams on promotion https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/546745
The $20 discount (4000 points) applied instantly.

  • Bought 10*$100 eBay gift card. $100 back woohoo

  • Not sure if asked already - apologies if so.

Can you pay for the vouchers with discounted Woolworths vouchers (e.g. Suncorp Benefits 5% off vouchers)?

    • +1

no you can only pay with non gift card / vouchers

  • Just wondering if anyone purchased the Ultimate JB & TGG cards? I have bought similar cards before but can't redeem online. Can only use in store. Anyone please confirm? Cheers

    • +2

all the ultiamte range are eftpos cards, they will not work online,

its like using your bank eftpos card online

      • That's what I thought. Prefer to have something I can use online now. Thank you.

  • Just confirming you are limited to a max of 8x $100 gift cards in one transaction. Just tried buying a $1500 item and it wouldn't let me put in more than $800 worth of cards :(

    • is this for ebay?

    • I bought $900 worth (9 x $100) not a problem, I think it's an issue when you hit $1000+

      • +1

This is for buying on eBay, you can't use more than $800 worth of cards to buy an item. You can buy more than $1000 of gift cards from woolies if done in multiple transactions (I had to get them this morning to put the $1500 through in two transactions).

        • Got it - thanks for clarifying!

        • 'you can't use more than $800 worth of cards to buy an item'

This isn't correct. You can definitely use more than $800 worth of cards per transaction. I've done it many times.

I'd suggest you check the terms of the cards and note:

"No more than a total of $1,500 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per transaction…"

          https://tc.ebay.com.au/ebay-gift-cards

          • +2

@DrRalph: Mate, it is correct, I'd suggest you read those terms and conditions you've just linked:

            Restrictions:
6:…Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

I tired it yesterday. If you try and input more than 8 of these Woolies gift cards it comes up with an error stating "Looks like you've used a lot of gift cards lately. You can redeem more gift cards in a couple days" (and no I haven't used a gift card in at least a year if you think otherwise and I wasn't using any discount codes).

You may have been able to put in more than eight gift cards previously but, you can not use more than $800 (8x $100) of these gift cards in one transaction. Have you actually tried it with these gift cards or are you just arguing about it without actually trying it?

            • -1

@dru86: Ha! Try again with your response and do some research whilst you're at it. Gift cards are available in greater than $100 cards. You can for example purchase $200 Ebay gift cards.

And just for your benefit I'll state this again:

              'I've done it many times.'

And to be even more clear for anyone reading your categorical claim where you blindly state:

'you can't use more than $800 worth of cards to buy an item.'

This is completely false and misleading.

It would be correct to state, you can only use a maximum of 8 x $100 gift cards (even less is using a code) in one ransaction. But this is clearly not what you claimed. As a new member to OzBargain you might want to think carefully about potentially misleading other members.

              • -5

@DrRalph: I'll make this nice and simple for you. This whole post is about Woolworths gift cards and the current Woolworths points deal, not about prior gift cards or any other deal you may have previously had. Woolworths do not currently sell an ebay gift cards with a value higher than $100 that will get you the Woolworths points, so yes the max number of Woolworths ebay cards that can by used for one purchase is $800 in value (8x $100). If you know so much post a pick from your local Woolies of a higher value ebay card that's eligible for points, otherwise you are simply full of it.

It doesn't matter if I am a new member or not, the information I provide is correct and you just keep digging yourself further and further into the ground.

                • -1

@dru86: not sure why people down vote you, but you are right too!

  • $10 off will be added to your next shop doesn't it?

  • +1

Woolworths Double Bay max purchase is 5x $100 eBay gift cards. I walked out and back in again to get another 5 to make it 10.

  • Can I use my wish gift card to buy the other store gift cards?

    Edit: found out I cannot

    • Nope.

  • +1

great deal. thanks for sharing. purchased $500 worth of ebay gift cards

  • Where are those 20% off sale on eBay now? With Amazon getting stronger, isn't it even more important now for eBay to run those promos like it did in the past?

  • Grabbed a switch for $349.. great bargain.

    • link tks ?

        Grand total of around $349

        • Tks I can only get this point : $481.95
          $409 with PVOLTAGE
$369 with 4x Woolies gift card

        • Genius! I'm not with UniBank but $369 is still pretty good. Thanks to your tip I caved in and decided to finally get a switch XD

  • A word of warning. Don't buy these with the assumption you can use them to buy Woolworths e-gift cards from eBay. It won't let you :(

    • Once upon a time they use to list in different categories but PayPal scammers stopped the party forcing physical card postings and no e gift cards .

  • My local Woolies only let me buy 5 x $100 giftcard per person.

I wanted to buy 12 and showed the checkout guy my Ozbargain badge. It was not accepted. Walked out sad with only 5 giftcards.

    • Go back again the next day
      I bought 6 $100 yesterday and 9 $100 today, all 2000 points each $100

      • I already did this morning.

  • i totally forgot this, will have to check tomorrow see if i am still lucky

    • Brought 3 eBay and 3 JB card. Still heaps at my local store. Seem like there aren't many ozbargainers around me. Lol

  • my local woolworths, had about 150 $100 ones on tuesday

    all gone by today!

  • Successfully redeemed $10 rewards on a $30 Optus SIM. Should be OK on Lebara/Amaysim SIMs. Maybe not the best use, just for reference.

It is a giftcard purchase required staff approval, though.

  • +5

Bought eBay 8* $100 cards. Told me they can activate one card only out of 8 cards. Still got 16000 points and $700 refund. So paid $20 for eBay $100 card!!!!!

    • +2

I would love to have similar experience :)

    • Yes, it may be lucky to fail to acitvate some. I just got one failed out of some and re-activated it at the service counter again with extra $10 rewards.

  • Anyone knows if this stacks with the 10% discount for having Woolworths insurance?

    • I tried, not working

      • Thanks buddy, will use it towards grocery with discounted egift cards, and pay for eBay gift cards separately with HSBC then. :)

  • can you not pay these at self service?

    • +1

      It's possible, but needs authorisation.

    • You can, they would still need to authorise it

  • My local one had 1 x $100, 1x $50 left

You'd think the person who took the last one would take them all!

    • +4

Nah, knew you were coming so did the decent thing and left you some options…….also saved you looking around for them :-)

  • Any idea if this promo is still on? Saw plenty EBay gift cards at my local woolies but no sign of any advertising regarding the reward points. I was didn't want to take a risk!

    • +1

This promo lasts the full catalogue cycle. So will end next Tuesday.

    • I still used yesterday around 6pm.
I only had issues paying everything with HSBC card. I had to use another card for remaining amount.

      • What issue did U have?

        • Transactions declined by HSBC debit card (I did use via Google pay).

          • +1

@johnmelb: I assumed you asked to split into $90 payments?

I might have been lucky. Bought 10x $100 ebay gift cards and asked them to split into $90 payments
It worked. What took the longest was the printout of the receipt and tapping the HSBC multiple times.

            • +1

@alphaai: Yes, correct: I did self checkout and was splitting in $90.
Maybe it's google pay in combination with HSBC card that was the problem (fraud protection mechanism?), I didn't try the physical card.
Each time the transaction was declined, the staff had to unlock the terminal again. So after 2 tries I just paid with a different card.
So I missed out on +/- $6 (2% via HSBC vs. 0.5% on the other card).

              • +1

@johnmelb: I used the card. I wanted to eliminate the possibility of Google pay losing internet connection which is definitely possible.

Couldn't risk Google pay ruining for me.

                • @alphaai: I still used google pay but just with different card. But next time I'll use the card. I learned the hard way.

  • Dumb question - how do you redeem multiple cards during eBay checkout?

    • +1

You just enter them into the coupon box one after another and they'll stack.
