lol at the "night" image. That's not night at all. The sky is still blue.

    • Yup near hedge all black. Looks like camera night vision is not good.

That image doesn't look like a good representation of actual image quality.

You can set IR leds to come on automatically and once the camera detects light levels low enough it will switch over. I have no lights in my front yard but when i watch the image through the app (with IR led's on) it looks like theres a floodlight in my front yard even though it doesn't project any light.

        • I got an indoor camera about 3 years ago and the instructions were super hard to interpret due to particularly bad translation to english.
Are you able to comment on this aspect? . I'm somewhat of a novice with setting up such devices so have to heavily rely on written instructions.

          • @[Deactivated]: Do you mean in terms of setting up the Argus? It is very easy to set up. Instructions are simple and of high quality. You pretty much just need to put the battery in, download the app on your phone, then the app will walk you through a few basic syncing steps until complete.

            • @Villainous: I appreciate that very much. So many options these days and so many variables!
Regards and thank you for adding this.

@[Deactivated]: Very true which i think is where the Argus shines. No cables. No base stations. Simple setup and operation.

                • @Villainous: Thanks again. I'll steer my research in that direction. Having a hell of a time on the matter.

Mine arrived today. I have used cheap indoor 1080p cameras before, this one although not perfect, looks good to me.
        Here is a night shot:

        • It does look to be satisfactory… did you need to use included instructions to set up/hook up to wifi? (see my comment/question above).
Cheers. Good of you to upload image to imgur/include link herein.

@[Deactivated]: Setup was super easy(compared my previous experience with cameras that only speak chinese). I didn’t even have to use the manual. Just connected the battery, and followed the English spoken instructions(download app on the phone, choose wifi, scan the QR code back to camera and Voila!)
Only extra step was to activate Cloud services(not the subscription) so that Google Hub/Home can talk to the camera

@GregFiona: I appreciate that GF. Many thanks. :O)

  • That’sa really good price

  • Plus GST I take it?
Showing up as $247.04 for a pair for me. $233.87 before tax.
    Still a good price!

    • That price I had up is including GST. So not sure? I did have a coupon code added by the store too.

      • Not sure what happened, it was playing silly buggers with me. It changed the price when I put my address in even though it didn't add shipping cost.
A single one now shows up at your price.

    • Yep, I discovered at checkout that it's plus GST (my first Ali purchase! Looking forward to a friendly greeting message from my friendly local CCP monitoring volunteer) but as you say, it's still the cheapest I've seen on OzB at $118 (with the abovementioned coupon for about $10).

      Thanks OP

    • Does this mean that it is being shipped from outside of Australia and not a Sydney warehouse?

      • No, you can pick where it ships from.

  • +5

I've had mine up for a few weeks now.

    • The motion detection is very hit miss. Can drive car right across front of it and doesn't trip it! But sometimes walking it picks me up. Detection seems to be limited to a few meters. This is regardless of the PIR sensitivity.
    • Delay in start recording by a few seconds. Means can miss capturing face upon approach.
    • Remote access (via mobile network) is buggy AF.

I had high hopes for this and really wanted to say good things but in short, am glad i only bought 1.

    • +1

I've heard a lot of similar reports about the delayed start to recording, has really put me off taking the plunge on them.
I didn't think the PIR sensor would pick up cars a reasonable distance away.
Might end up with the Eufy's

      • +1

I wouldn't worry about it picking up cars a reasonable distance away (i was originally as i put it on front of house), it doesn't even pickup an SUV driving across the face of it 5m away.

EDIT: To be fair i have not finished tweaking the angle of the camera, if i do manage to improve it i'll come back and post again.

  • I don’t encounter those problems at all. It’s really spot on for me (although agreed with the delay sometimes). Maybe upload issue or too far from the router?

    • Does it pick up cars for you, or just people? It sounds like Xizor may have a defective PIR sensor if it's picking up bodies but not cars.

      • +1

Picks up all. In fact if my car isn’t in the driveway it triggers street cars driving by which is annoying!

        • +1

mine was doing that too and it was because of the angle it was on.. since i moved it around, it has't missed a beat. Only issue is now this stupid cat that keeps walking past and setting it off ALL THE DAMNED TIME

          • @87percent: Thankfully we don't have a pet that would do that - I'm assuming horses in the distance won't set it off. I'm more worried about tree branches - do they set it off?

            • @y2k: Unless it’s a crazy wind you should be ok. I have a hanging basket and when it swings it picks it up, but you can adjust the sensitivity.

        • I guess the big variance in quality/experience between units prob just comes with the territory for a more budget security camera! Hopefully I don't draw a short straw like Xizor

  • +1

Just received mine from the recent Amazon deal :(

  • Just got the Argus Pro + Solar Panel for $65.38 USD inc GST.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32882459365.html?spm=a2g0s.9…

  • Non solar also available

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32849996917.html?spm=a2g0s.9…

And you can use code AESS10 for USD10 off the twin pack

  • what is the 4.5 solar cable for? To install the solar panel far away from the camera?

    • I think so. The included cable seems a decent length for most, but for those who have limited space, that extra length of cord could be the difference between buying and not buying!

    • +3

The cord they give with the solar panel is pretty decent. I’d want to say at least 4m. I’ve had to wrap mine up to keep it from hanging.

      • +1

Ordered the Reolink Argus 2 + Solar Panel - thanks for the heads up.

      • From their support page:
The cable length of Reolink Solar Panel is 4 meters. If it is not long enough, you may consider purchasing our Solar Panel extension cable (4.5 meters/15 feet). You can use up to 2 extension cables for Reolink Solar Panel so that the total distance of the extension cable can reach up to 13 meters (43 feet).

  • Coupon not valid anymore

  • -1

Also the 2 pack does not work out under $200 AUD? How did the OP get 2 cameras + solar panel for $192.49 GST INC? That is impossible. I am getting $243 AUD for 2 cameras plus solar panel GST INC. This is after using the $10 Discount Code.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • -1

      Try harder: https://ibb.co/df4VQGW

It’s gone up since yesterday but can still be achieved. Use the discount code mentioned too.

      • Ahhh ha. The Argus pro. No thanks.

Thanks for the response though. I’ll grab the Argus 2.

        Thanks mate

  • AH so its the 2 pack of the Argus Pro not the Argus 2 + solar panels.

    • +1

It’s the Argus Pro 2 pack + Solar Panel 2 pack.

  • Anyone got shipping notification as yet for your recent order ?

    • Nothing on Aliexpress but got an Auspost tracking email from "Online Seller"…
Anyone disputed their "Will arrive by X date or free"? I suspect mine won't arrive on time

  • Received shipping notification from Aliexpress on Saturday. Aliexpress had an Aus Post tracking number which I looked up , appears that it had been posted on Thursday in NSW.
Let you know when it arrives.
