  • hmmm.. I was seriously considering the Gigabyte 2070 super 3x for price (ebay discounted) of $879.20. Wonder if the extra $320 is worth the MSI.. decisions decisions… I use it for VR so FPS is the key. My current 1660ti is gitterbug (sometimes).

    • +1

2080 super will get you 5-12fps~ extra depending on the game. thats at 4k ultra settings

    • -1

      Do it.

    • +4

wait for the 3xxx series launch in the next 4 months, these cards will bottom out price-wise.

    • Wait for new GPU's. If you can't, spend the extra. You can't pay the difference for the extra fps later.

    • I just bought the Gigabyte 2070 super 3x yesterday! Wonder if it's too late to cancel…

  • -1

    I mean.

Is this even a deal? I still don't really get why people are paying so much for a GPU it's insane.

    • -1

because there is just as much if not more tech that goes into the GPU as the CPU

      • I get that to a degree but whatever happened to the days of a $800 flagship? Like the GTX580

        • +4

Welcome to the world of Corporate Greed my friend.

        • +2

Like with phones, mid range prices now are what flagships used to be

          • +3

@KingSlayyer: Yeah, thanks to Apple and Samsung, other areas of tech have seen what they can get away with. New flagship double the price of the old flagship…. Expect the same with the new 3090 SKU. Would be shocked if the new flagship card is under 3k aud.

        • +1

Tech got a lot better and the premium got more premium. Also no AMD competition to keep pricing down in this gen.

        • +7

People nowadays are happy to pay $2000 for an iPhone though.
You can't use past price as the benchmark

          • @Danny N: It's actually insane.

Have an S10 on a plan myself, won't be buying a flagship ever again.

        • +1

NVIDIA hasn't got any competition from AMD for a while and as a result controls the market. It's why I'm praying that AMD releases something to compete with it or at least close.

          • +2

@npiet1: I know this, but I just don't know how people afford or justify spending 2k on a GPU 😂

            • +1

              @Matt86: Yeah I can't either, even 1k is pushing a lot.

  • -1

    Do it.

  • This was $900 at the start of the year. Might be worthwhile holding out a bit longer.

    • +3

if you meant the one from ftc_computer then you are mistaken, it was a scam. Just read through the comments and you will see how many people cursed them.
I bought into that deal and the card never arrived, took me 1 month to get my money back via Paypal dispute

      • Hmmm okay, well I suppose I retract my statement.

Though I didn't buy the 2080 Super from FTC, I did order a 1660 Super for my dad as part of the same sale and I don't recall having any issues.

        • Yeah I think it was a hit and miss. I got a 2060 super and an Acer monitor from the same sale snd received them both within a week too

        • +1

not if you were eyeing for their 3900x, 2070 Super and 2080 Super earlier this year. Anyone who bought into those got screwed over.
ftc_computer pulled all of their Ebay listing and disappeared after this incident

      • i got my 2070 Super Aorus and Ryzen 3900X from them in about a week on that same sale.

    • +1

ScumTC computers doesn’t count mate :)

  • +1

    no hmdi 2.1

    • What benefit is there over Display Port?

  • +1

At this price you'd be best waiting for the next generation…

  • What CPU do you need to take advantage of this card?

  • Just purchased this afternoon at around 1 o'clock, the seller didn't post.

    Will wait for his reply.

  • Arrive today, even faster than I thought.

Strangely the seller didn't update the order status nor providing tracking number, but it arrived ok and quickly, so I'm happy.

  • If anyone is selling theirs let me know, haha. :)
