  • Thanks, was looking to buy something today so will wait a day

  • I wish they'd announced that last week alongside supercheap Auto.
they would have earned my 160 dollars for a battery, I would have saved 40 dollars AND got a longer warranty.
    ah well…

  • +6

Thanks, will buy a Blackvue with the 30% off dashcams. And we were "warned" from Bankstown Sound that 30% off Blackvue was never to be seen again this year because of change in policy?!

    • +2

They are quie expensive compared to Navmans or other brands. Are they that better?

      • +2

I agree, for example a DR900S-2CH could easily be substituted with a much cheaper Viofo A129 Pro Duo which looks better from reviews.

But as I'm used to using the Blackvue system, mounts and experience when installing it in my cars, I just can't be bothered changing so I'm going for another 750S. I guess benefits would include reliability, discreetness, size, heat resistance and the app. But your brands today like Street Guardian and Viofo and Thinkware are all quite good now. It comes down to your preference for size, video quality, ease of operation, heat resistance and parking mode if you need it (the monthly compilation videos from Dash Cam Owners Australia is a good way to start checking out quality of recordings though Youtube will suppress the file slightly!).

        • Im waiting for Viofo's weekend 20% off on their Au site, guess will be much appearing than blackvue's price even after discount.

    • And we were "warned" from Bankstown Sound that 30% off Blackvue was never to be seen again this year because of change in policy?!

has anyone seen proof of that claim, anywhere?

      • +1

        Nope.

If there were, Blackvue shouldn't have been spruiking the Autobarn sale on their Facebook page today. They say it won't be repeated for some time but that would likely be in reference to Autobarn. Considering Repco are also now Blackvue dealers and frequently have storewide sales, provided the dash cams aren't on their catalogue already then we will see these good deals popping up again with cashback!

        • +1

sounds like they were BS-ing us into rush purchases.

  • +1

Thanks OP, missed the last 30% off black vue dash cam deal, will grab one this time. :)

  • How much does it cost to change a battery?

    • It's not that hard to do it yourself.

    • about 300 seconds

    • If you buy one from a lot of places they will fit it for you, but depends what car model you have as to how difficult it is. For most vehicles its really easily accessed, just read the manual or watch youtube and take things off and put them back on in the right order. I'd recommend putting into the garage feature of SCA/ Autobarn / Battery world to work out what battery you need.

Some vehicles accessing the battery is very difficult and you could need help. This is by far the exception. Google your car model to check.

Edit: To clarify around 'how much' - You would be able to get it done for free with the purchase as its not a long task and pretty easy.

      https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/services/in-store-services…

Supercheap do it for $15. I'm sure some places will do it for free. Most commercial places will connect a secondary power source so you don't lose your radio settings (handy if it needs a code which you don't have).

You can do it yourself if you're remotely handy. Look up info online (YouTube) for your particular car.

      • Autobarn is $12

    • SCA charging $15

    @Meathead95
    @Pianoman1
Which blackvue are you both keen on? I’d been thinking of grabbing the 750 2ch pre covid, still want one but we aren’t driving much. But I’ll technically be losing money if I don’t buy during a good sale right

    • +5

      DR750S-2CH with PMP.

I already have both the 750 and 900 but don't find value in going with the 4K (refer to YouTube for some videos comparing). Night vision is better in the 750 and I would say that's when you really want your dashcam to shine because it's dark. Daytime you will get better vision with the 4K however the 750S is not far behind.

Don't need to spend the extra on 128GB genuine Blackvue SD card as the cheaper Samsung Pro Endurance SD card will be suitable for either of the Blackvue dashcams (refer to posts this week that have them discounted).

      • +1

Thanks man, reinforces my leaning towards the 750s too
Didn’t know about the SD cards being viable so thanks for the lesson, appreciate it

      • So is it better to buy the 32GB one and buy the Bigger storage SD separately? Ta

        • +6

That's the way I would go. As an example:

          • DR900S-2CH 128GB: $979 less 30% = $685.30.
          • DR900S-2CH 64GB: $879 less 30% = $615.30.
          • DR900S-2CH 32GB: $799 less 30% = $559.30.

          So using the 32GB as a base, you +$56 for a 64GB and +$126 for a 128GB.

Using this (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/545670) a 64GB Samsung Pro Endurance sets you back ~$25 (get Officeworks to price beat!).
Using this (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/545114) a 128GB Samsung Pro Endurance sets you back ~$50.
And the bonus is that you get to keep the 32GB card in the box as a spare.
I use the Samsung Pro Endurance in both my 750 and 900 without issue. Some will say they use the Samsung Evo or Sandisk High Endurance but judging from forum posts these are more hit and miss.

The larger sized SD cards are far more viable if you are using parking mode. A 64GB card gets around 6 hours of recording 4K extreme.

Also remember that to keep your SD card going well over time, reformat it once a month!

I am thinking of getting the 750s 2ch too.
Anyone know if they do installation at AutoBam?
I don’t buy just because on sale, always wanted to get one and just haven’t got around to put it into action.

      • +1

Give your local Autobarn a call and ask. They will get someone over to help with the installs and I think it's somewhere from $100 to $200.

        • +1

Called my local Autobarn, $160 for installation front and back camera

    • DO these dash cam have a parking surveillance mode? Could be useful if you park your car at the train station everyday

      • Yes, you will need to buy a power magic pro to power your BlackVue in parking mode.

      • +1

Or get a blackvue b-124x battery which I also got from Autobarn on sale…25% off so not bad

whats the * mean next to the items, couldn't find anything on the page?

    • Was thinking the same

    • Same here…..We all might just be doing these calculations for nothing.

  • +2
    • It says not with any other offer. I wonder if autobarn will include it

      • Was to go give the store a call to check, they just closed at 5pm
On the Facebook link, Autobarn is a authorised dealer.

      • Does it matter if the shop sells it cheaper than the one then the road.
Is it by redemption or included in the pack or as an added extra

        • I recom they would give it as a extra item.
Not in a promo pack or redemption

      • confirmed with Autobarn this morning, they are NOT running the free PMP promo with the current two days sale.
Repco has the PMP for $51.75 vs $52.49 at Autobarn atm.

    • Edit: Sorry guys, it turns out the bonus PMP is not included with the deal.

** This promotion is run by Autobarn and does not add to any other current offers such as a bonus PMP in the market, thank you. ** ~ Blackvue Australia FB

My local store gave one to me!!! I didn’t even ask. 750S 2Ch $419.30 with PMP!!!

        • Lucky my store refused

  • $502.49 with the recent Repco May deal with 20% $100.50 cash back/CR
For 750 2 CH and PMP.

Wonder if Autobarn are going to beat that price

    • Bugger, missed that one, CR need to bring back the 20% CR, as the Repco is having an online 25% atm.

If Autobarn honor the free PMP it will be $419.30 for 750S 2ch 32GB

  • ahhhhh jeez, punching air for 5mins
    just brought a battery today.
    uppercut..hookpunch..1inchpunch..pinslaps..punchpunch

can't you return it for a refund and buy again?

    • haha
      get on board mate.

I really dislike those car accessory companies putting the actual car on their product picture
It's misleading, like this picture, I thought this commodore is 20% off

    • I can sell you a Commodore for 20% off… No battery though. You can buy from from Autobarn for 30% off though

    • lol go complain to the ACCC or something. sheesh.

  • Thanks a bunch mate.

Was going to grab the 2ch 750S but after watching the reviews and seeing the quality difference, was well worth the extra $140 to grab the 2ch 900S.

Comparison review for anyone interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhyEh_x_lKI

    • -1

The 750S has better night performance. The 900 is also prone to overheating. Absolutely not worth the extra spend for the 900, FHD video quality is good enough for a dashcam.

      • -2

        Agree to disagree mate.

Difference is clear as day/night as seen in that side by side comparison video I posted.

I know the rear cans are the same but far better quality on the main cam for $140 is fine with me.

        • -2

Did you just downvote me because you don't like my personal opinion 😄

          Enjoy your weekend, princess.

    • The rear cameras are the same for both models.
900s 4k video front camera would take up more storage space in the memorycard.

750s is good value for money and does the job.
      from what I read.

      • The 750 is definitely great value, but I'm more than happy to pay the extra for the 4k cam which shows a much clearer image.

Review said the h265 codec is great at compressing the 4k footage aswell.

Anyway, will see how it all goes when I install it tomorrow 🙂

  • Good deal. Using the cheaper prices for 28degrees price protection :)

  • Amateur question here, if you purchased a new car later on - would you need to get your dash cam professionally removed from your old car and installed into your new car?

    • depends on what i do with my old car, if re-sell through private probably can get more including the dashcam. if selling for scrap metal. i will moved the dashcam and sell it on gumtree.

These things probably need an upgrade in few years like our phone/tablets/laptops.
      that's my opinion only.

    • +1

It is not that difficult to remove, you just pry the trims off to remove the hidden wires and clip everything back in.There is some wiring from the PMP to fusebox but should be easily removable too.

    • I’d get my mate to remove and reinstall it.

  • Merged from 30% off Blackvue Dashcams @ Autobarn

30% off Blackvue Dashcams today and tomorrow at Autobarn

    eg DR750S-1ch $300.30

    • FINALLY!! only if this was a week ago. Someone dinges my dad's brand new Mazda a few days ago and chucked a runner. Thanks btw op!

    • Been on the lookout for a cam, waiting for some good deals. Most people recommend Blackvue. Just wanted to get people's opinion on which one to buy or is there another brand/model I should consider? Looking to spend around $350.

      • +2

You need to spend more. The DR750S 2CH + Power Magic Pro is the one you want. If you are happy with a more basic dashcam, then Viofo is a good option for your budget. I think the Blackvue are well worth it though, good video quality, good design and reliable parking mode for peace of mind.

        • Thanks mate :)

    • Anyone know a ballpark figure they normally charge to install the dual channel with Power Magic Pro?

      • +1

        About $200.

      • its kinda easy to install

      • +1

$180-$200 is the going rate for a professional job. It's not really that difficult to DIY, but some cars are trickier than others.

      • +1

Autobarn quoted me $160 for installing 2ch dashcam

        • I’ve been wondering how they manage to install the back one with the wires and all?

      • +1

        Bankstown charged $180.

    • Happy! Installed this via professional last month for $780 + 200 for installation. Now I can use my price protection and save some money!

    • +1

I got my front and rear dash cam installed on my BMW x3 about a month ago. It cost me about $200.

He came to my place and spent a few hours to complete. None of the wires can be seen and he even showed me photos of how he did it. Wires were tapes and fuses and all neatly done.

      Amazing.

He was a recommendation from a friend - https://www.progressiveasg.com.au/ . I would probably just email him, but if you want to ring him PM me for his number and i'll find out if he is okay for me to share it.

      • Hard wired or just normal install?

        • I am pretty sure it is hard wired. It goes to the fuse box.

          What is a normal install?

          • @mlim: plugged into the ciggy socket

  • Can anyone comment on Blackvue DR590

  • Anyone found any good deals on the batteries for blackvue?
Cellink B Dash Cam Battery Pack
    Celllink Neo
    Blackvue V0112 (smallest one)
    Power Magic Ultra Battery (B-124X)

Couldn't see any in Autobarn or am i blind?

    • Autobarn sell the B-124x in store.. It's not listed online. Probably best to call before to check as stock is limited

  • Just a quick question. The blackvues are 32, 64 and 128gb. Is that just the size of the memory card you get?

    • +1

Read the terms of use to find out… ;p

That's correct. I just bought the 32GB DR900S-2CH and also bought a 128GB Samsung PRO Endurance from this deal.

      • Thanks for the link and response. I also got myself that memory card

  • If you bought online to pickup from a store and haven’t received any notification yet, it might be because the store is out of stock.

The Penrith store won’t have stock for at least three weeks.
