    Wouldn't be surprised if this drops to the mid-$60 mark closer to release. Still worth a pre-order now on Amazon though so you're guaranteed whatever cheap price it drops down to, even those glorious pricing errors.

      A mate of mine has done this awesome google spreadsheet tracker for the past 8 months and his findings are as follows (he is anal about never paying full price)

      EB Games are 100% $99.95 on Launch
      JB Hifi launch games at $69 38% of the time
      Jb Hifi Launch Games at $69 17% of the time then increase it to $79 or $89 within 24 hours

      Amazon will launch games at $69 100% of the time if JB hifi have it at that price

      He also found that
      Activision games 70% have a launch price of $79 or 22% $69 then increased to $79 within 48 Hours.

      Sony Owned Studios have an 80% chance of launching at $69 (exclusive games)

      There are heaps of other things he found, i really should see if i can get him to make it public so i can show everyone here

        Damn that's crazy, looks like he's hell bent on trying to find the best bargain for new games!

        The percentages are really interesting, most games I've bought have been $68ish or so, so I haven't noticed it too much.

        Then there are the BIG games that cost that $10 extra (such as Cyberpunk).

      I'd give an exception to Indie studios.

      Big publishers like Activision don't need your money, but early sales for an indie game may make or break their future development. Just look at Dead Cells as an example

      Never understood why games release on a Friday (weekend play I guess)
      But saying that every game I have ordered from amazon has arrived on the Friday (earlier a few times)
      I think the issue is Aus Post but as I am in Melbourne and the Amazon warehouse is also I have had parcels delivered by a dude in a car. Investigating it I found out amazon has couriers for same day and local deliveries in vic and nsw currently.

      I've pre-ordered 4 games this year from Amazon alone and they all arrived on time or early (FFVII Remake). My copy of The Last of Us 2 arrived on time.

      Some of the best games are released at the end of the generation, for e.g. Last of Us 1 and GTA V on the PS3. To be honest, launch games have never really impressed me much so I'm happy to play PS4 / XB1 games for some time yet. I still have a huge backlog from all the games I bought from sales.
