  • Nothing says pimp like a European-made Attic Ladder :)

    • Pimp my shack

Definitely a misleading (with purpose) title: there is no where on Attic Ladders web site the definition of "European made".
Also what ladder "model" is included?

    • A 'Performance' Attic Ladder up to 3.05m

virtually the first line when you click through

      • "virtually" lol

    • The OurDeal site says it's a performance model. Judging by the photo I'd say it's the Pine variant - not the metal. Sounds good to me - but a little more detail on the deal page would have been good.

    • +1

The Attic Performance Ladder is a premium quality, folding, 3-4 section attic ladder made from Nordic Pine.

      so yes… the pine one

there is no where on Attic Ladders web site the definition of "European made".

I would assume it means that the ladder is made in Europe….

      • -2

Really? You're going to make an online bank transaction and you "assume"??

        • indeed… what other conclusion could one come to about the phrase 'European made'

Do you have knowledge that the ladders are made elsewhere?

        • European made as well as Italian leather are the "assumptions" that dealers more and more often use for misleading marketing purpose.

By the way, do you have any knowledge that it's made in Europe other than blindly supporting something no where on supplier's web site??

        • +6

Personally, it makes no difference to me where the ladder is made as long as it goes up and down…. I'm unaware of any great variance in the ladder manufacturing industry, nor would the term 'European made' hold any weight when it came to buying ladders, (or much else for that matter).

You've negged on the assumption that Ourdeal are stating an untruth, (which they may be….. I don't know….. and, seemingly…. nor do you).

The OP is not a rep for either company, so is unable to clarify…..

Are we to base our negative votes on 'hunches' or 'gut feelings'?…. Tarot cards? tea leaf readings?

If you have significant factual information about this being a bad deal, then by all means use the negative vote as a warning….. otherwise, just comment, and people can make up their own minds…..

        • -1

Obviously my neg vote is directed to ourdeal by making a misleading statement (not assumption) in order to give more value to the deal and not to the OP.
So why are you trying to mislead my post?

You said you would buy it on the "assumption" that the ladder is made in Europe then you changed your mind and say that you don't care where is it made from.

The only thing I agree with you is that it's no matter where is made from as long as it suits what you want.

Please leave tarots, garlic and all the mystic stuff you seem to know very well alone as it got nothing to do with my comment.

        • +3

Obviously my neg vote is directed to ourdeal by making a misleading statement

Again….. are you able to back up that accusation with factual information?… or is it a 'hunch'?

You said you would buy it on the "assumption" that the ladder is made in Europe then you changed your mind and say that you don't care where is it made from.

Not that it is in any way relevant, but I have not stated I would buy at all….
However, I would be buying under the assumption it was made in Europe, because that is what I had been told….. I would not buy just because it was made in europe…. I would buy irrespective of where the ladder was made…. it's not a matter of great importance to me.

        • I stated it already and explained for you, but again there is no where on Attic Ladder web site "European made" and so this is a statement made by ourdeal in order to make the deal more attractive.

Did you read it or you just like trolling with no sense?

        • +1

there is no where on Attic Ladder web site "European made" and so this is a statement made by ourdeal in order to make the deal more attractive.

It may well be that Attic ladders see no reason to state that the ladders are European made, hence it is not on their website. They do not state where the ladders are made.

You do not know where the ladders are made. I do not know (or care), where the ladders are made.

The Ourdeal site states they are European made. They may or may not be….. you are claiming they are not, without any evidence, and negging the post. As you are a fairly new member (and haven't yet posted any deals), you might not be aware that negative votes can remove posts from the view of the community, hence they should be used sparingly. I, and I'm sure you too, would not like to have potential good deals removed from view simply because someone might 'have a bad feeling' about the deal. Comment away about a deal….. but don't add a neg unless you have some useful factual information….

Did you read it or you just like trolling with no sense?

doesn't really add to the discussion….

        • Given that Europe and the scandinavian countries is where Nordic Pine is commercially grown, it's not an unreasonable assumption. Google is your friend.

        • Excellent! Thanks for the entertaining thread guys. If only it were legal to fix blades to your talons and throw you into the ring.

As one who also occasionally succumbs to 'testosterone-moments' like these, it does raise the question of whether OzB should have a separate vote section to choose a winner to this sort of thread.

… now boys - shake hands and say you're sorry!

This is the best bit of this deal…

"Installers will come to your home at a time that suits you and clean up any mess"

I just need to make sure they come on a day where the kids have been playing indoors…

    • At a supposed value of $400 for installation alone, they'd darn well better clean up their mess too. Unless one has a morbid fear of heights though, installation isn't really that big a deal if you have a ladder and a saw. So given that I'm saving them $400 by not having to install, I wonder if they'll give it to me for free? :]

Since when do Australians say "attic" instead of loft?
Maybe it is a QLD thing - do they have sidewalks, condos, and airplanes?
We do talk a bit different out West.

    • +3

Never heard loft either, always just "in the ceiling" or "in the roof". That's my Sydney speak anyway.

      • +1

        yep, no loft here either.

      • So what do you call those 1½ story homes, with a room or two in the roof space?
Maybe I just know too many poms, or got it from Grand Designs.

    • The company name (supplier and installer of the ladders) is Attic.

and I'm with Jaxr, it's "in the roof" for me in SA. The only time I'd consider using "loft" is in one of those yuppie Warehouse apartments to describe the mezzanine.

    • Excellent - thanks. I suspect I had unknowingly fallen into this trap.

      Google search results:-
      loft site:.au 10.4M
      attic site:.au 4.96M

      loft site:.uk 36.4M
      attic site:.uk 13.7M

      • Keep em coming everyone - name and shame those creeping 'US-isms'!

I suspect 'American-ism' is itself a US-ism - as it seeks to subvert our understanding that the USA is just one among many American nations - i.e. in or of 'The Americas'.

  • +1

This looks a good deal at face value. It usually costs about a grand to get these things installed.

  • +2

shame brisbane only, have been looking for something like this and the units alone usually cost around 700 bux for the metal ones or quite a few for the wood…

Might be worth contacting them direct for the above areas, see if they'll match this deal?

      • cool thanks… however:

Service areas include Brisbane including Ipswich, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. If you are unsure that you are in the area, please contact Attic Group before purchasing this Deal

not being detured by that i just rang them up in melbourne as well, they wont match it…
