Same here. Pissed off! Had the item in cart, code loaded and ready to 'confirm and pay' before 4pm… clicking from 4pm to 'confirm and pay' but somehow no stock!?

13 NEW ACCOUNTS CREated!!! - sOURCE - 13 buyers with 0 purchase history from the last 100 Ipad winners :-)

  • +1

All those ef—king "newbie" accounts again ….

    • What can you do.. most likely people double dipping with multiple accounts for resell or very lucky ebay plus average Joe

  • I got an iPad at the 10am drop, and just got an email saying it's shipped.
Hopefully the people looking for refunds don't get their orders shipped this arvo.

  • What a joke.

  • +11

Got it in basket probably for next year 😂😂

    • +1

You need to refresh the page so that it doesn't time out, you'll spend more on your electricity bill refreshing the page for 365 days than saving on for this not so wanted IPAD.

What may happen is because of the eBay stupidity today, they just might release some more stock of Ipads tomorrow, We all know they have a sales and promotion team, and now their reputation is at stake :-(

  • +1

I wonder if they have an internet farm of guys buying to resell lol.

  • +1

Finally got one! They warranty screen didn’t pop up for me. On mobile app

  • +2

This should renamed to “Targeted - ozbargain proffesional required”

    • Or "Targeted - regular customers only".

  • Guess it's back to waiting for a good deal on a cheap-ish iPad again. Not many deals out there right now

  • I got the Thank you for your order page, but it didn’t show up in my purchase history and I haven’t got charged. Bloody eBay

  • +5

Haha scammers taking advantage of the eBay sale - Link

    • +1

      Box only? Huh lol

      • +1

…Customers cannot dispute because it is as described! LOL

        • +1

          Holy cow someone bought it.

          • @omgilia: Poor sucker… unless it was in zest…

          • @omgilia: Lol I was just typing that out. Someones gonna be having a bad day.

        • Sure they can just say SNAD - claim item was sent crinkled and not brand new. Force a return from ebay and get reimbursed from paypal. I do not see how the seller can getaway with such practice.

Might have to buy one and go "pick up" in person just see the smirk of the seller's face

        • +1

I don't agree, item description is of ipad, not of a box:
          "Item specifics
          Condition:
Brand New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is … Read more
          about the condition
          Brand: Apple
Color: Space Grey Operating System: iOS
Colour: Grey Model: Apple IPad 7th gen
          Internet Connectivity: Wi-Fi Type: Tablet
Screen Size: 10.2" inch Warranty: 2nd year local warranty (provided by seller)
Manufacturer Warranty: 1st year - Worldwide Apple Limited Warranty Country/Region of Manufacture: USA
          MPN: MW742LL/A Storage Capacity: 32GB"

          • +1

@johnmelb: That is a good point. It is duplicating the specs of this deal item. Let's see how fast he/she updates the description, then we can work out if he/she is on OB ;-)

            • +1

@Buy2Much: If he/she is part of OB, then I hope we can identify and ban (I know it won't be effective because it's easy to create new account or just lurk).
I normally don't hate .. but I hate people like that (I wanted to write something else iso people, but don't want to use foul language on OB).
              It's plain fraud.

    • +2

Wow very deliberate pricing almost comical. I do feel really disgusted that some poor ol chap would actually buy this and probably return a different box

      • The item description is clearly describing the ipad - not a box.
If they want to sell a box, they should describe the box with dimensions and show a picture of the box.
These sellers fraudulently misrepresent the item they are selling.
Seller and accompanied banking details should be banned from ever opening an ebay account again.
And in my view ebay should do everything to identify the person behind and prosecute them for fraud.
Reality: Besides my rant, nothing will happen.

        • Reminds of the scams that were going back in the day

    • There is someone who bought it too.

    • +4

We should all report the item:
      Report category: Listing practices
Reason for report: Search and browse manipulation
      Detail reason: Misleading title

The user is obviously trying to mislead or confuse others and makes it unclear what the item for sale is.

      • Reported as fraudulent listing.

    • they sold two now!!!! yikes

  • +3

For anyone wondering, I had my cart open with discount code applied since 10am drop. Was spamming checkout button at 3.59pm and it seems I got the 11th last iPad based on order history. So definitely a tough one.

    • Thanks I was curious.

  • +1

We'll try again next year and save another $1100+.

  • +2

Had myn in cart since 10AM. Clicked buy at 3:59:59 and got it. This is the first time I've got something from eBay plus. That took a while.

  • +17

For those who could not score it (including myself), you probably didn't even want it in first place. Forget about this as it never happened, move on, spend some time with family/friends, treat yourself with a nice dinner! Hump day tomorrow!

    • +2

I was mostly getting it for my mum. She wants to upgrade her second gen iPad but didn't want to spend too much.

End of the day she's not too fussed if she upgrades right now or not, but it would've been nice to grab this for her.

That being said though, your comment is quite uplifting :)

    • I am taking sick leave tomorrow.

      • Do go out and get some sun (if there is any of it!) and some fresh air!

  • +1

That's it, no luck for me! I've been prepared and waiting at 10am, 12 am, 2pm and 4pm, but couldn't score any.

this model is about to be made obsolete by the new version due in a few months which will have vastly better internals: https://www.macrumors.com/2020/05/15/apple-plans-2020-new-lo…
the 7th gen model had the exact same internals as the 6th gen, the single difference between 6th and 7th being half an inch of diagonal screen length.
in view of that, 329 is not that great a deal. i got my 6th gen brand new for 429 (education store) at the time of its release.

    • The exchange rate is shot and with the current WFH, I doubt ipads will be $429. You do have a good point, it used to be “cheap”. In contrast I paid $650 for an iPad Air back in 2015, that just makes me cringe.

    • Not to mention 32gb will be or already too tiny

    • Can you please share how to obtain an .edu account without being a student?

      • order online and select delivery, and also uni specified stores have a better discount than the edu store

        • But how do I get a student/uni/edu account even without being a student?

    • People are probably buying to sell on Gumtree

  • Wrong forum… Should be in "competitions"

  • 6pm - end of Ebay crazy deals.

    • +2

Finally everyone can get back being productive again.

  • I got a refund from the seller

Edit: made a profit of $4

    • did you request a refund? or is eBay just cancelling all the full price orders?

      • I asked for a refund, this mocking around was too much for me

  • eBay plus deal, the deal you will never catch up, the crazy deal make you crazy !
I have spent hours to refresh the page, practice million times to process payment ASAP, still failed in all the times, wasted !

  • +3

Gone in less than 10 sec, quicker than my husband.

    • Isn't that good.

      • for the husband probz

  • +6

Dont forget to cancel your trial ebay plus membership guys.

  • I wonder how many Ozbargain members bought every items on this list?

    • +1

      I bought 13 of them

      • +1

15 No bots. Just copy and pasted code. Tethered to phone for faster internet. Looking forward to my $529 ipad hahaha

        • +1

12 here. Though I never attempted (or interested) the 'big ticket' items like the airpods, A70, tablets etc.

Tho it explains why there is a dent in my CC bill this month.

        • How can you copy the code? the code is in the banner, isn't it?

    • -1

Was only going for the $99 airpods and $320 iPad. Managed to get 2 of both due to early release drops. Normally I fail at these deals

      • Question is why would you need 2 of both?

        • Why not?

    • Job keeper is ending in Sep. Ebay should keep going with this type of deal.

    • I managed to score Finish tablets as well.. lol

    • +1

bought 18, NO Bots or scripts, just on fast ethernet adapter internet on Desktop.Just copy and pasted code, also received my Ipad today already. pretty fast.

      • How did you get your ipad so quickly. I haven’t gotten a dispatch notice yet.

        • +1

I bought mine on 10AM slot. which one was yours ? 10AM, Unplanned before 12AM, Full price slot at 2PM or actual 4PM ?

          • @Jadeja: Oh cool! Mine was the 11.30am surprise drop. How’s your first thoughts on the ipad?

      • How can you copy the code? the code is in the banner, isn't it?

    • 10!

  • +1

Any 'full priced' iPad buyers been updated by eBay as yet?

    • Nothing yet…

      • I wonder if they can even do 'partial refunds'? It might be they need to cancel these orders completely and then send custom discount codes for a repurchase at the correct price to those effected… basically what they did with the airpods screwup. That took them 4-5 days to set up.

        • +1

Or they'll credit you a voucher for the difference…

          • +1

@Speedster: I'm not sure I'm okay with a credit voucher from eBay, I mean there's not many things over $200 I will buy here :(

    • +1

Just chat with eBay, will have an update by this week.
Come on, yesterday was told update by today.

      • What are they going to update you on?

  • Just got iPad delivered. That was quick

    • +1

So fast. Did they send you a dispatched email

      • Yes

    • That was quick indeed!

    • Yeah wow I didn't even get a dispatch/tracking yet, scored one during the 10am drop

      • Yeah same, no email no change in ebay status. I got mine at the 11.30 surprise drop.

        • +1

The 11:30 surprise drop was actually a good thing. They sold a extra 170 units and the bots barely got any of them (it was mostly people with 50+ feedback that got them).

  • My account was one of the ones flagged with a coupon error that resulted in my account being charged full price with the coupon applied
I was told this was flagged and that the buying or promotions teams were going to investigate and get back to me. However the seller has just provided a tracking number.
If eBay is not going to honour the promotion we need to urgently notify the seller to halt shipping of the affected items

That's right Joshua our team will get back to you with an update about the refund.

With regards to the delivery it's good to know that it has already been shipped so you will be waiting for the item and rest assured that you will receive an email from them soonest.

Two of our representative have already flagged your account as one of the affected members so I am positive that your name is already on the list of the member whom our marketing team will contacting about this matter

We truly apologise for this inconvenience Joshua as we are also not expecting this to happen to you as our valued buyer

    • (Chat transcript - mine top, ebay underneath. Format came out funny. This was because I paid full price and I just got the shipment notification.)

    • eBay: "I'm sorry to hear about that Joshua but rest assured that you will be refunded of the discount amount and as of the moment we don't have an update yet whether it is in a voucher or refund direct to your bank"

      • It better be direct to your bank. That’s so frustrating.

    • Thats on them if they cant do the right thing, if they dont refund the difference, simply invoke the 30 day money back guarantee and return the item citing Change of Mind or otherwise. It will cost incur a cost eBay in the end.

  • Got the tracking number half an hour ago from the 11:30 surprise drop

    • Same here. Should arrive tomorrow..

  • is anyone still waiting for theirs to be shipped (from 11:30am surprise drop)?

  • +1

I just got this message from seller

    Dear Customer,
Thank you for participating in the recent eBay Plus promotion on the 30th June and congratulations on scoring an Apple iPad at a bargain. Due to the overwhelming demand and several eBay technical glitches, the iPad was oversold. We’re pleased to inform that eBay has agreed to honour all of these purchases.

A new batch of stock is already en-route to our warehouse, however it might take up to 2 weeks (or sooner) before we can fulfil all of your orders. As one of the affected customers, we apologise for the delay and inconveniences caused. If you are happy to wait for the new stock to arrive within these 2 weeks, no further action is required. Our friendly customer team will keep you updated as we progress with the new stock arrival. Alternatively, if you no longer wish to purchase the item due to the delay, customers have the option put in a cancellation request on eBay. A full refund will be credited to your account there after. For customers that encounter issue with their discount codes and price difference, please continue to liaise with eBay customer service for assistance.

On behalf of IOT Hub’s team, thank you for the support and kind understanding.
Feel free to contact us if you require further assistance.
    Regards,
    Customer Care Team

    • Got the same email. But waiting for eBay to resolve the discount code first.
