      Ask for the discount!

    • I did not go with purchase but I am fighting with eBay. why code was not working?

I appreciate your patience. I understand that the discount should have helped you get this item at discount price, at this point, the best thing I can do is submit a report on your behalf so that we can ask for an advise from our Marketing team.

I am quite likely going to cancel my order if I am unable to get the difference refunded

      Me

I'll give you an update view your linked email on file.

      • Did you get an update on this?

        • Haven't yet, if I don't hear back by tomorrow I'm cancelling this order. The seller also replied to me but it was the generic message they sent everyone else to contact eBay customer support. Has anyone else got an update?

  • +5

The purchase price is $529 but the cancellation refund is $533? Seems like I got paid $4 for participating in a comedy.

    • $4 is the ebay shipping charge - I got that on my $99 Airpods purchase receipt last time (was paid by the discount code)

  • The fact that they've sold 474 and not 500 makes me feel uncomfortable

    • +2

I think they started the morning with 4 sold.
      100 at 10am makes 104
270 at 11:30am makes 374 - Like someone said, prematurely blew the load
      100 at 2pm - 474

      • +1

        "prematurely blew the load"

hope no ozb member got pregnant today!

        • Looks like many did!

  • what’s going on at ebay headquarters…

    • +1

probably outsource to some other countries.

    • sorting out profits/losses for EOFY.

  • +1

I have said I would keep my eBay Plus membership for another year of entertainment/drama, I didn't know it would start straight away.

  • Heads up. Code is gone again from the listing.
Be prepared for the same fk up at 4pm if you're game to try later.
    I'm out

    • It's an Omen with capital O, don't not touch this deal!

  • Got charged the full $529 despite having the discount code applied… This was the response from the chat support "I was able to confirm that you paid the regular price, at the back end, it shows an error with the code when you applied it. We will continue to investigate on this to make sure it does not happen again. We'll get back to you as soon as we're done investigating."

    • Imagine if they refunded you the difference with an eBay voucher - that would be the worst nightmare for me

      • could use it for 4pm drop :p

      • +1

Well, they should offer a $529 voucher, or cancel the transaction and provide a personal voucher for the same deal (or full refund for those that don't want it anymore).

    • Same, I had it in my cart from the earlier drop. They have admitted an issue via chat.

    • I got the same answer "it appears that you didn't input any discount code" … Basically they will investigate … lol good luck sherlock, I'm going to press the refund button, I wasted too much time with this mess

    • I cant be bother wasting anymore time talking to ebay and wait for escalation, I just cancel!

      • Have you cancelled successfully?

    • I've got a delivery date of 3 July… if they take a week to come back to me what would they expect me to do? I think it's going to be pretty hard for them to do anything but honour the discount if they ship the device before they resolve the issue.

      • Should be free returns with eBay plus, but I certainly don't want the headache. This is the same seller that is going to take at least 2 weeks to ship my Apple Watch though that they said would arrive 4 days after purchase, so they might take a while to ship.

  • Had it in checkout ready for credit card payment closed the page at 1 pm as it was showing sold out

    • recovered the checkout page in browser history, gave it a go at 4pm drop and got one. Time to sell the old iPad

    Update from Chat:

    Christine14:25 PM
To be honest we confirm that this is an ongoing issue. This is not what we intend for our buyers to experience.
    Christine14:25 PM
Is it okay if we get back to you within this week about this?
    ME:
Well, i need to know if i should cancel the order
or am i going to be reimbursed for the $200 for the code that got removed
    Christine14:27 PM
    No, please don't cancel
    ME:
after the earlier blunder where the iPads were released before the specified time as part of the Ebay Plus promo
    Christine14:27 PM
As it may be out of stocl
    Christine14:27 PM
and you are not able to get antoher.
    Christine14:27 PM
We will find a way for this issue and make sure that you will be discounted
    ME:
i believe i am not the only one with this issue at the 2pm drop of the item
    Christine14:28 PM
    Yes, I agree
    ME:
Should i let the vendor know to hold the item first and not ship it?
    Christine14:28 PM
I''ll include your account as one of the affected. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    • I suggest that you hold onto this transcript and if it doesn't get resolved within a week go to your bank for a chargeback

      • lucky you

        • lucky you. I've contacted the seller to cancel. eBay Live chat saying they can't see any record of the code being applied. Sour end to eBay Plus month.

    • +1

she said she will make sure you get the discount, save this scripts for evidence

      • Ebay SR# X-XXXXXXXXXXX

        Hi, XXXXX!

We will get back to you within this week for an update on how we go about this. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

        We appreciate your understanding.

        • where are you finding the ebay chat?

    • Christine was a lot more helpful than the guy I had

  • +4

This hilarious response I am getting.

so what is the new code?
    Quennie14:36 PM
You can still use the same promo code, you can use still on the 2pm and 4pm drop.
    samja-32014:38 PM
2pm is gone, time now is 2:37pm and code is not working
    Quennie14:38 PM
As of this time the only code that we have for the iPads is PFF900.
    samja-32014:39 PM
and that code is not working.
    samja-32014:39 PM
    we are talking in circles.

    • LOL!

    • Quennie keep saying wait for next drop PFF900 is working.
It was like talking to stone.

  • Yep, they got me with the ol full price discount code trick too.

  • Not a deal if the code doesn't work

  • I am on live chat with Ryan too. Asking if Ebay/Seller could do something. Ryan asked me to wait to be transferred to their buying team. It's been 10 minutes and I haven't been transferred.

    • lol same

      Ryan14:45 PM
It's best that you have a chat with our buying team about this. Please stay on the line while I transfer this chat over.

      • I got to Loyd eventually. Told him the problem and he said this is an ongoing issue he is investigating.

Now I have to go pick up the kids from school.

        Good luck everyone!

  • +1

probably get transferred after 4 pm drop.

  • +2

I would think that eBay would just refund everyone (that applied the code and paid full price) the difference. I doubt the people that bought it at full price (without a resolve in their favour) will want the sale to go through, which means all those ipads are left unsold.

  • +1

I must have been one of the lucky ones in the morning then. I just re-checked my AMEX and PAYPAL again to make sure I got charged $329, yep, Paypal showing $329, and the AMEX that the PAYPAL is tied to, went on the AMEX app and is showing $329 pending.

Let's see if they'll honour though, that's my only worry, so far, no cancellation emails from them.

    • can't see why they wouldn't honour it! they should

    • Back in ?May? they did a similar thing with an Airpods drop - released an hour early - they honoured it.

  • -1

Thank god the Watch deal didn't have this much hassle… enjoying my new gadget

  • +1

I asked the seller to cancel my order and he sent me this message, so I can't even cancel my order and have to bloody get on the ebay chat?

    Dear customer,

Thank you for the recent purchase from our store.

We have received multiple enquires about customers being charged at full price for items sold on deals, and we apologize for the inconveniences caused.
We’ve raised the issue with eBay and while funds are held by eBay, eBay has asked that customers kindly contact eBay’s Customer Service Team directly for assistance.

eBay Customer Service can be contacted via the direct chat on this link - https://www.ebay.com.au/help/home

Please provide them the order ID and details, and they will assist you from there.

Feel free to contact us should you encounter any issues. Thank you.

    • +2

i'm in your situation. hopefully we get it at 329 instead.

  • +1

They wouldnt commit to honouring the deal for me, other than its being "investigated". I had the code applied at checkout and it pinged the full amount

    • I got the same message. Saying they will investigate but they can't see any evidence of a code being applied.

  • +2

Sounds like those who overpaid with the right coupon will get the discount! Fingers crossed.

  • +5

This is so confusing. Wondering of $200 off on a ipad even worth this.

    • They are a bunch of ba…ed

  • +1

    alph Kenneth15:09 PM
Were actually aware for the PFF90 not working. we understand you were charged full will have an update within 24 hours about the error, If you can still get your refund. I would highly recommend don't proceed on cancelling the order because it might give you a full refund and the order will be cancelled. Once we get the update from our promotions team will get back to you.

    • +2

Sounds like the eBay marketing team is doing a cost benefit analysis: reputation shot or subsidize more iPads.

      • well here are my thoughts … the coupon is not the restriction, the stock count is … the coupon is in effect only a way to restrict multi buys on the account. So if they sold the 100 limit in that window of time - which they know is very small. Then they should be able to honour those buyers (who were eligible for the coupon) at the discounted rate without really any cost difference to what they expected.

  • +2

They must have put a limit of 400 use on the voucher code

    • +2

Sounds plausible, but not good enough

  • +1

I didn't press buy because it was full price. This is BS! Sigh

    • I guess everyone is whacking the confirm and pay button.

  • Can't fulfil it, don't advertise it! Classic bait and switch.

  • its not showing the promo code on the page anymore even though theres no stock it was showing before, does that mean it wont work at 4?

    • I refreshed and saw the promo code thingy for half a second and then it went away.

Refreshed again and still not there.

Here's hoping it works this time (if we can even got one lol)

EDIT: Promo code is showing, get ready!

    • Code is live now

  • Finally! Phew…

  • lol

    that's all folks! 😞

  • +1

    WE DID IT

  • +2

    gone in seconds

  • +2

Jesus, I clicked it as soon as it went live, went to pay and it sold out. Far out

  • My card details disappeared :(

  • 'We ran into a problem and couldn't add this item to your cart. Please go back and try adding it again.'

  • "you already applied this code"

    • Eventhough I haven't :\

  • +2

Wow people are even able to add to cart, go past the warranty pop up, add code and place order within 5 seconds!!

    • I reckon ebay oversold during the earlier rounds…

      • I was checking the order timestamp and while it gets sold out within 20-30 seconds, there are actual buyers who placed order at 5-6 second mark!! What a speed!

  • +2

bloody insurance slowed me down :(

    • If you are starting from the front of the line you have already lost.

  • What a failure…

  • annoying waste of time

  • Gone 100 units gone in 16 seconds with 46 going to new accounts.

    • +1

Had to be bot for those previous 0 purchaser, can't be possible set it up in less than 5 sec and bought it in last round. eBay need to set Captcha to stop the bot.

    • How did you find that out

      • +1

I went thru the purchase history and counted anyone who had less than 5 feedback and yellow thing. Theses would be new created user.

  • +2

    Got one!

    • +5

bet ur a pretty happy wizard now aye?

  • Last order was 19 seconds in. Getting the items is very doable you just need to be quick that's all.

    • Nah that's bullshit, I clicked buy now, no thanks, pasted in code and pressed buy and they were gone. Took 10 seconds max which was mostly the loading time.

    • +1

I was a lot quicker than 19 seconds, I saw the oos message at something like 16.00.04

      • +1

Yep, same here. I got it within a few seconds of 4pm and continuously trying again well before 19 secs past made no difference…

    • Hmm… maybe the afternoon drops are quite hard to compete. I got my ipad in the morning where last buyer was at like 20 something seconds. Much higher chance to get the item at the 10 am drop. If you want to compete in the afternoon then you would want to be in the payment page already so all you have to do it 'confirm payment'.

  • i clicked buy it now straight away (within 1 second) and it "error could not add to cart" then failed it was sold out… what a total BS

  • +1

Wth?? Had item in cart and hit pay within 2-3 seconds of 4pm and still got oos.
