I think these have PWM dimming :(

  • +4

    +1 for the summary!

  • hmm currently have an LG ultra wide 25inch. I want to change this to vertical and get a a standard 16:9. Should i go for the 27 inch or 32 inch?

    • Does refresh rate matter to you? What about display resolution?

      • not a heavy gamer. Occasional DOTA and games on ubisoft. Mainly using it for work (generally office suite, excel, coding), videos (YT, Netflix, amazon), light photo editing.

        • +1

If you like fine text, you might wanna consider the 4K monitor.

Sorry mate, not seeing the prices, I'm on the Samsung EPP website, price of the 24' CRG50 seems to be 254?

    • Updated to Samsung Education Store.

  • How does one get the sign up bonus?

    • Wait for the newsletter signup popup. Note that:

      • It must be the popup shown on the education portal, not the normal Samsung portal
      • I have managed to use it for a second time. I have used different email addresses to get the newsletter sent to; it need not be your education address.
  • so is FHD just full hd, UHD is ultra high definition. How is that compared to a retina screen

    • Retina screen on what device?

    • +4

Retina is just a brand name by Apple for a display with a higher pxel density than their traditional displays. The panels are most likely made by LG or Samsung anyway. If you looking at UHD, Apple would call it Retina 4k display on a desktop. Retina on a recent Apple phone is closer to QHD than UHD.

      • +1

No, UHD and Apple 4K are not the same! 4K is commonly used, but you'll also find people calling it Ultra HD, or UHD. … In its correct usage, true 4K which Apple uses on their iMac 21” desktops refers to a resolution of 4096 x 2160, which was first introduced in digital cinemas. UHD refers to a resolution of 3840 x 2160, which is the resolution you actually get on the TVs you take home and of course the common UHD monitors.

        • As mentioned Retina mainly relates to pixel density and not resolution. Apple's closest resolution to UHD is Retina 4k on a 21" screen. Because the screen is smaller there will be more pixel density than a 27 or 32 inch display from Ssmsung.

  • Bought the UR550, Thanks!

  • Can you notice the diff in fps games 1ms vs 4ms response time? I've heard some people say there is actually not much diff btw two.

    • +1

I have a 5ms VA2719-2k and I use it for gaming with no issues. In saying that, I've never used 1ms. I usually go by the rule of a maximus of 5ms.

      • Thanks lots my friend:)

  • May anyone answer whether the 50$ voucher supposed to work on this samsung edu website? As they said the voucher is not valid when I put in.

    • You have to get the edu specific one from here: https://shop.samsung.com/au/multistore/auepp/samsung_educati…

    • No it won't, you need to sign up to separate newsletter for edu and normal website. You get a voucher for each one. Not sure if you can use the same email though for both

      • Yes, can use same email. I signed up multiple non-edu accounts and used the codes on the same edu account, so that I could claim the discount twice. Recently got a Samsung galaxy active watch for $215, and now a 32" UHD monitor for $425. Haven't been a student for 9 years!

        • Ah good to know thank you!

    • I was already subscribed to the newsletter, so wasn't receiving a code. I had to unsubscribe and then again subscribe to get the code. Unfortunately in the meantime, 27" and 28" were sold out, had to settle for 32" for $425.

      • How did you unsubscribe? Through the website or your email?

        • Web site… ‘my account’ It’s a bit hard to find but it’s there…

Thanks OP for posting, bought the CRG50. First monitor I've ever bought so really looking forward to it!

  • +1

Damn, I knew this would happen, as soon as I ordered a new monitor (today) a bargain like this would come along :(

    • I too was finally about to give in to Kogan 27” deal but gambled on waiting till the last moment.

      • Ha, that is exactly what I bought, the LG 27" with free shipping from Kogan, if I only waited one day :(

  • 28 UR550 OOS

  • 24" curved not seem to be showing as well. Only 32" UHD seems to be available.

  • hmm is 32 inch too big?

    • +6

      Monitor? No. Dildo? Yes.

    • I remember working on 11" paper white CGA screens, at that time 15" VGA was considered a luxury. Now most people work with 24-27" monitors, but 30+" is again catching up. 32" at FHD is useless but at 4K i think it'll be useful. Eagerly waiting for mine.

      • +1

Likewise. I remember my first pc with 14" monitor. When I used a 15" once, it felt great, and 17" was just over the top.
I went with a 32" UHD because at that resolution, anything smaller would have to be eye straining.

        • Eye straining? Do you mean anything at that size, a smaller resolution would be eye straining?

          • @Emerald Owl: The iMac 21" 4K is crystal clear as, and not eye straining for me (true 4K not UHD). High 500 nits and colour gamuts help too. The iMac 27" 5K screen is in a class of its own too. Speaking from user experience.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOO I WANTED THE 144hz monitor VA daaaaaamn it :(

  • CRG50 says $250 on the website now not $200
    oh the $50 voucher

    • $50 is sign up voucher that you need to use to get it further down. See this link

      • ye i saw after i posted and edited xD

  • Hi Everyone,
    I have a .edu account but not a .edu.au, so do i qualify ?

As per the website it says .edu.au account is required. Has anyone tried .edu ?

    Thanks

    • Just need to put .au after .edu and it'll work

  • Samsung UJ590 32" (3840×2160) @ $425 V Kogan 34" WQHD 21:9 Ultrawide 75Hz Monitor (3440 x 1440) @ $449

Thoughts on the two? Will be used for 80% office / 20% light gaming/media

    • +2

samsung …..higher pixel, density so sharper lines …..especially when you office work and fonts and lines become important.

      i have 28” 4 k monitor, used to have 32” 1440 p.

    • Ultrawides in general are more expensive. But they’re more versatile for a 1 monitor setup for sure.

    • I'll buy a name brand over Kogan any day of he year, if the marginal cost is minimal and features are similar.

  • wow great prices! bought the kogan QHD 27"…

Is the Samsung Education portal meant to be cheaper for students and educators? Because it isn't.

The Tab S6 Lite 4G 64GB for example is priced at $559.20

You can get it for retail at Bing Lee $549 https://www.binglee.com.au/samsung-sm-p610nzaaxsa-galaxy-tab…

    Officeworks at $539.00 https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/samsung-ga…

    Megabuy at $530.00 https://www.megabuy.com.au/samsung-tab-s6-lite-wi-fi-64gb-gr…

    What a joke. lol

    • +4

the one you link for OW and Bing Lee is the Wifi version, the one on EPP is 4G

This portal is the reason that most of my techs are Samsung

  • CJG54 27inch must have had low stock? It says only 8 people have purchased this item today. Bummer that i missed out.

    • That counter is busted. It’s been saying that people have bought it everyday (I’ve been checking everyday) and it’s been out of stock.

  • oh no, have been after a monitor and now missed on this
