        • ok. thanks, just need to be sure before i buy coupon from agl..
otherwise it s going to be useless if i can not use it for this !

          THANKS

  • Picked up two at OW, beauty!

    • Did they price beat both or just match the 2nd one?

      • I'm guessing both by the beauty remark

  • How do you price match at OW - call or online?

    • You physically walk in.

      • Calling always works for me. Be ready to tell them how to find the competing price online helps.

  • I just googled "Samsung A31 issues".. Not a good idea unless TGG has a good refund/return policy like ALdi

    • +5

Try looking for “iPhone issues” or ‘Porsche issues’, on the net you always find what you’re looking for

      • +1

That does it I'm buying a Porsche

  • This or the redmi note 9?

    • +1

I'd recommend spending a bit extra and getting the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Snapdragon 720 processor instead of an MTK.

Most of these lower end Samsung phones are pretty bad in day to day use from what I've seen.

  • +2

Is this worth upgrading from my dying S8 ?

    • It's not really an upgrade. What's wrong with your s8? If you don't mind out dated software, just replace the battery.

Otherwise, sure. You'll be missing alot of features, but if you've only ever use your phone for regular stuff, you'll be fine.

    • It is if you want it for the Camera. Speed should be about the same as a 3 year old flagship but it's new. You can change the battery on the old S8, but that in itself would cost about 150 bucks to open up and replace with a genuine Samsung battery not to mention if you have any crack and dings over the years. The S8's and newer are a bertch to open up these days.

  • Thanks just price beat for 217.55 at OW. Apparently it's dual Sim from office works made in Thailand. Their price was 497. Another man was just getting his at the matched price so was super fast for me.

    • OW is dual SIM? Ok thats good

      • It says so on the card on display and in specs on office works web page.

    • Have you opened it?

    • i know on OW website it says it is. However have you tried it and can you confirm its in fact Dual SIM Compatible?

      • +1

I got one from OW. It's dual-sim and it works.

  • Bought one to to replace my cracked galaxy S7. Will be nice to move to Android 10 and a more modern appearing device.

    Thanks OP!

    • My wife is still using S7 I am thinking A31 may not a big upgrade except storage.

      • In my case my S7 screen is cracked which is getting annoying. Mines also only 32gb and so have to move apps to the SD card. Android 8 doesnt seem to natively support this so apps automatically move back to the internal storage when they update. The end result is I constantly have to move apps over to the SD with a 3rd party app.

  • Has anyone received TGG's $20, $50, $80 voucher from previous deal?

Waiting on the voucher to pull the trigger.

Took the last one in OW Caroline springs melb.
They arent too happy about the price match lol, they think its an error

  • +1

Price is now $449.00 in cart. Was going to buy another one.
    So price error I guess.

  • We are rolling out the A30 at work - as an iPhone X user, I am tempted to get one and go between Android / iOS.

  • Price reverted. As I was literally getting into car to get to OW. Bust?

  • Dammit. I was on phone to Office works doing price match. I should have just bought from TGG :(

    • Omg same hahahaha next time not gonna bother wit price match, I guess u win or u learn lmao

A new phone bargain is my white whale at this point. Still rocking my 2016 Redmi 4 Prime. Must set up email alerts…

If anyone in Melbourne has a change of mine with their purchase PM me!

  • I ordered it a few months back and got it refunded straight away. Terrible build quality and materials - feels very cheap.

  • The price updated while I was on the phone with OW price match. Thanks OP but I was too slow. May be the phone is not for me.

  • +3

I snoozed and I loozed. If it was a Snapdragon processor, I would have smashed it.

    • +1

If it was a Snapdragon processor

      Samsung use Mediatek MT6768 Helio P65 😒

  • +1

The price is still available in commercial site.

    • Did it work for you? I got the below error

Error:The following command exception has occurred during processing: "java.lang.NullPointerException".

  • DO you guys reckon these A series Samsungs are kinda overpriced? For a little bit more and access to EPP you can get an S10 with specs that shit on these A series.

    • Looking on the Government EPP page the S10's are very expensive. S10 $976, S10+ $1104

      • Yeah the s10 were $700 before end of year sales then went back up 🤦‍♂️

    • If they're on sale then they're not bad, but I wouldn't buy them at full price when you can get another brand with much more for the same price.

    • I honestly think they are overpriced,
But at $217, i was happy to buy it.

I think there are better options out there if your willing to pay the $450 that these are selling for.

    • +1

You are comparing what's a new model (out last month) and full RRP (A31) vs a year old model at student prices PLUS further discount (S10). Bit far fetched comparison is it not?

      • The S10 was just an example, my point was for full RRP (around $500) you could get a much better phone, for instance an Oppo Reno which was available for for an extra 100 @ $599 from JB or HN.

        • +1

But what if their budget is 400, and they push to 500? You cant just keep justifying more, or the same logic says buy the highest tier, whats that, 2k now?

          • +1

@Tuba: Yep.. you can always go a model higher somehow.. You went to the car dealer to buy a Yaris, next thing you know, you drove away with a Lexus RCF. "Because it's a better car"..

  • +6

So got my Ready to Pickup email form GG. I went in store and they claimed they had no stock. Spoke to manager and they pushed the refund option pretty hard.
I told them no one actually searched the store for the stock and I want what I paided for. They will call me when its available.

    • +1

      true Ozbargainer :)

    • +1

They just handed one over to me, no dramas at all.

      • Is it dual sim from The Good Guys?

        • +4

Yeah, slots on the tray for three cards, 2 sim, one memory…

          • @Tuba: Is that from one bought from The Good Guys?

            • +2

@ozhunter68: Yes, I didnt think there was time for price matching, that and I hate OW.

    • Finally picked it up, no further dramas in the end.

  • Waiting for a flood of "Pricing error" emails to come through to everyone on this..

    • They wouldn't do that because they're the good guys.

  • TFW When ur greedy about the price match but end up losing the deal altogether. Prices went up on TGG again loooool

  • +1

called OW BP team they said its a price glitch and advised not to match TgG commerical site. placed the order via TGG commerical site paid extra $5 for delivery as no stores nearby had stock. Has anyone actually picked one up at $229 or has all online orders been cancelled?

    • +1

Picked mine up this afternoon. No questions asked.

  • +4

Got a shipping confirmation email from The Good Guys! :)

  • +4

Yep, picked mine up half hour ago.

I think I got lucky though as they already knew about the price error, but armed with my order confirmation in hand, so they honoured the sale.

    • I ordered this morning when the store showed stock. Showing no stock now and haven't had any news from TGG.

    • +2

Nice, they refused to hand mine over.

      • +2

You could challenge that. Price errors as most will tell you can be withdrawn, and thats because a contract for sale needs to have an offer, acceptance (without modification), consideration (this is essentially payment but is not limited to money). If you ordered, but will not pay until youre instore, they can withdraw at anytime prior to payment.

But if youve paid them, and your account has been debited, the contract for sale is done.

  • Anyone who purchased and opened the box please confirm if its a single sim or dual sim

    • +2

      I got one from OfficeWorks. It's dual-sim.

      • Have not opened mine up so not sure, but above comment from Tuba looks promising with 3 slots, if so Bonus :-)

Also saw that it's big brother company JB HiFi has the dual sim model and most likely this is the same model.

        • +2

Easy to tell if it's dual Sim it will have on box imei Sim 1 and imei sim 2 numbers.

          • @paulaus: Yep, saw that yesterday but was not sure. Dial sim it is then.

  • +2

The ads banner on the right hand size of ozbargain still show $229

    • It's like a photo from an old girlfriend. Just a c*** tease.

  • +6

I called TGG customer care this morning around 11.45 am, I was advised it was a price error but my order will be delivered. so very happy.

  • Since this is a price error, does that mean TGG & OW made a loss for every Samsung Galaxy A31 sold or did they still make a profit?

    • +2

Easy loss. This price was nearly 50% off.

  • Anyone know where the "vibrate on touch" option is on this?

    • +1

I think you're getting your devices mixed up.

  • +3

Thanks for the heads up OP. Ordered one and its now in transit :) Gold Star for you***

    • But no plus vote for the deal?

  • Can anyone comment abount this, the A31 vs the A50?
Bought one last year but never opened it now I am not sure which would be better

    • Had a look and to me they are fairly similar spec wise without knowing which model/varient you have as regards

memory/storage & ram if that's important to you. Camera wise would be fairly similar, unless you really want the

macro cam in the A31. Biggest difference I see is that the A31 is almost 1mm thicker and 19 g heavier due to the

1000mAh larger battery. I have a A20 as back up and would swap to this A31, but waiting to see what happens with

all these reported software bugs, hopefully a software update can fix some soon. Otherwise move it on.

Have you opened and used your A50 at all?

      • Oh thanks. Yes I looked at a couple of comparison vids on Youtube last night and they come in pretty close. I like this size and don't want to go any larger.
Seeing as I left the A50 so long, I was condiserdiering going the new A51. It's definitely good specs wise but its grown just a little too big
I haven't opened either yet, still drumming my fingers on the desk deciding

        • Unless money does not come into it much and/or you can sell either or both of these without too much of a hit ( should make $ on the A31 lol ). Or otherwise make nice gifts for someone, then sure, go for the A51 as that will have best performance, especially if getting the 6/8GB ram version and your happy with a still very decent 4000mAh battery and has slightly larger screen for same size body.

Have not read anything about the A50/A51 but imagine that as their both running exynos processors they will have less bugs than the A31 with it's MTK cpu. Also if you like having up to date software, the A51 and also the A31 are almost certainly getting Android 11 and longer security updates too. I'm sure you already thought about that.

Edit: Haha, you could be in luck as there is a current new deal on the A51

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/549556

          • @ozhunter68: Pretty much mirrors my conclusions too.
Sigh, now I am considering the A51 you linked. Perhaps I will have three phones on the desk lol

            • @King Tightarse: Haha, I know what you mean as I have far too many phones and computers.

When getting a new phone/computer I often plan on selling an older/less suitable unit, but I have only done that a few times and end up gifting most of them and hanging on to many lol.

Just to throw another spanner ( although a nice one ) into the equation, how about a nice local stock Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 for a similar price to the A51?

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/549547

            • @King Tightarse: Have you decided which phone out of these two ( if any ) you are going to keep to use yourself.

Mine is still in box and I'm undecided, but good to hear that most bugs sound like they are fixed with last software update if commenter was correct.

Found some really cheap but top quality Samsung Galaxy S9 + cases and screen protector, and although have not got that phone I got them anyway for maybe my mums ( or mine ) next phone.

Could sell this A31 and put the money towards a used/top condition S9+ for around $450 ish. haha

              • @ozhunter68: Yes still in the box. I am leaning towards selling it and buying an A51 - it ticks a lot of boxes but I am not sure how to actually do that these days.
I no longer trust eBay/PayPal and especially since PayPal removed the cost-free refunds. I used to vet people in a situation like this and if they had a dodgy or very low feedback account, I would cancel. Now it costs full fees every time

              • @ozhunter68: How much could you sell this for?

                • @TomGum: Had a look at gumtree and ebay and there is one on gumtree in Brisbane asking $350, so if they get $300 or so that would be a win win. Also one on ebay for buy it now for $395 + $11 delivery fee, so sounds like a bit of a "Broaden."

Because they must have got notified that I checked out that ebay listing, I got an offer for $385 from them. I responded that I was a fellow OzBargainer who also bought one and just curious to see what people are asking. I think asking $350 on ebay would sell easy, then less fees get your money back + petrol and some time.

"King Tightarse" What are you going to do with your A50 then?

  • It sounds like they are honouring this price error for some (hopefully all) orders.
My order is still 'being processed'. Anyone received a cancellation email?

    • +1

      Mine still processing as well.
