Both SSDs are DRAMless and worth avoiding, especially as an OS drive.

agree with this and the many posts about the A400,i/o errors galore. partition totally disappeared into "unallocated" and get an i/o error when trying to initialise. error logs showed increasing i/o errors in the <1yr i've owned it. was used as mainly an ISO storage so mostly reads rather than writes.. barely used, probably less than 300hrs of reads and only left plugged in for those sessions.

was going to replace with a BX500, but now realise they're on the same boat, hence the same price so thanks for post

Ive seen four BX500 SSDs completely fail without warning within 12 months of use

Please spend $3 more and get Samsung 860 Evo 500GB https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/548181

    • I think you mean $7 less after you factor in SS delivery costs vs MSY in-store pick up. $84.94 vs $78.00.

  • my A400 completely slows down after a couple months for some reason.

i keep it as a game drive and initial installs its fine - get 300MB/s reads. after a couple months it will slow down to 50MB/s and stuff loads so slow. i have to copy the game files over to a new folder and then just delete the old files and then it becomes fast again… it sucks.
