Are you open to changing parts? I may be interested but I wanted 32GB of RAM.

    • +5

Buy an additional 16GB kit of identical Ram for use.

      • +3

Can be okay, but sometimes you want matched pairs to ensure there’s less issues.

Might be $170 saving off normal PCByte prices but against lowest available prices on PCPartPicker for each component (incl shipping) the real saving is closer to $40 - and after cashback from other suppliers <$20. So if you want 32GB of RAM as 2x16GB instead of 4x8GB and PCByte can't/don't come to the party, then sourcing components separately is another option. Even if PCByte does, it may still be worth sourcing separately so worth checking.

    Wouldn't a 3900x be better value than a 10700k?

    • +3

      100%

    • +2

YES! …in ever way unless you have a 2080ti and only play games at 1080P

      Intel is the 100% pointless.

      • +1

With the next gen GPUs, the gap will further increase. Probably even at 1440p. That said I myself use a 3700x just to support AMD.

        • +4

nothing like buying products simply because you're trying to be the good guy to a corporation that doesn't care about you!

          • +4

@Kozhutki: In some circumstances, you have to support some corporations not because you want them to care for you, but because you care for yourself. When I picked up a CPU 5 years ago, Intel was the only high-end choice and thus charged dearly for it. By supporting AMD in this instance, we are forcing Intel to be competitive. The end result, we - the consumers - are better off.

          • @Kozhutki: A) Ryzen machines are good
            B) Intel and Nvidia have both engaged in absolutely deplorable practices

            https://guide.ethical.org.au/company/?company=5903

But you know if a few frames (Even though that's arguable) is more important than child labour and deplorable practices. Guess its your call though.

          • @Kozhutki: If not for AMD we would still be stuck with 4 core 8 thread i9. I felt they deserved it and also to keep the competition going which means to care for myself.

      No for gaming performance.

    • +1

      second that

    • 10700k is still ahead of 3900x for gaming performance, but not by much:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d--Szv_Z6HA

3900x has 12 cores over 10700k's 10, which will give it a similarly slight advantage in some workloads (not gaming).

      • +1

        10 cores is the 10900k

And u get the mother board to support the faster m2 sads

    • For pure gaming I'd get the Intel, for mix work n play, get the AMD. I went AMD this time around.

  • Does the board have bluetooth?

Better read this once before investing on ASUS boards

    • This deal is big fat no then

    • +1

Sure I don't support Intel, but come on PCIe 4.0 isn't really a big deal. See how modern GPUs fare on PCIe 2.0, very well, and a PCIe 4.0 SSD is only going to affect sequential speeds which are utterly useless.

      • +1

You can always buy from a different board partner. Same money and no regrets. Why buy half baked goods even after knowing about it? Who knows what problems might arise if one decides to upgrade to rocket lake later on? Its about ASUS here and not intel :)

        • I mean fair enough, but the bundle would make it worth the trade off wouldn't it?

          • +6

@Void: Well, it depends on people. The only reason I negged this deal is to bring it to peoples attention before they pull the trigger. If its worth it for someone, they can always buy it :) I wouldnt buy it though. 1150$ is not a small amount to miss out on features.

  • 3200mhz ram? did someone test it for overlocking?

    • +1

Probably Samsung C-die. Pushes high frequencies, in excess of 4000MT/s. Usually does 3200CL15, 3600CL17 and 3800CL18. Also has done 4000CL19. Hardly scales past 1.4V and is unsafe above 1.35V. I have my C-die kit running 3733CL18 because FCLK doesn't pass 1867MHz on my 3500X.

  • I have an Asus PRIME motherboard. The white and silver makes it pop when using rgb

  • Noob question for any: For a beginner would most recommend building a Pi (Pi Hole) and then go onto a system (intel or amd) build?

    • +2

Not needed. You can assemble an x86 directly. There are many detailed videos. Only problem is if something is not working you might need a spare part to swap and test it out. In such cases be ready to take it to a local shop to help you out :)
