Code says new users only but it worked on my old account anyway.
I know they are a hit and miss but I have been lucky with them so far. got my old phone with them within a week but I could of just been lucky.

    • How you finding it?

      • +1

It is a beautiful phone! Updated it. Installed Poco. Has screen protector installed and comes with clear back case. Has all the features I was looking for that will see it through for the next few years.

        • Awesome. What are the advantages to installing Poco over the standard launcher?

          • +1

@Wombatt: Gives you access to an app drawer.

Personally I prefer Lean Launcher which has a smaller memory footprint, the pixel look, and just barely enough customisation to be comfortable.

Ordered on 7th July and got it today

    • How is it?

      • Pretty good so far. Exploring more

        • Does it come with a pre-applied tempered glass screen protector. I ordered mine on the 11th of July.

          • +1

@mckayver: it did come with a screen protector, but i don't think its a tempered glass one. It's more of a temp thing i think

        • Someone else in the comments said it does come with a pre-applied screen protector. Yay, I was about to order one from AliExpress.

          • @mckayver: Gonna be a long wait then. M still waiting my orders from AliExpress. Been around more than 2 months now, either go with express/priority shipping option or you will be waiting forever.

On the side note, even this one taking longer than others. I guess coz of Melbourne lockdown it's taking more time. In transit since 9th of July but hasn't arrived yet in Melb. 10 days n counting…

            • @koolchamp81: I have heard that most standard cargo is now coming in by sea from China, which takes very long, upto 3 months.
Air Cargo has reduced in number.
Technically Air Cargo flights should still be coming into Melbourne, even when passenger flights are stopped.
Not sure though. I understand your annoyance bud.

Mine arrived this morning and at collection point in Canberra, I have been emailed to go n pick it up :)
              cheers.

              • +1

@alishaikh: Good to hear that yours coming today. Mine's showing as out for delivery as well.
                Thanks

              • @alishaikh: Do you find it better than the Note 9S?

            • @koolchamp81: My status is still on processing. I've emailed them and will post daily updates here for others with the same problem.

              • +1

@mckayver: Received mine this afternoon but couldn't get any time to play with it as I had to leave for work soon after n I had to call Toll people to check if the delivery guy is in the area otherwise I will out today. Anyways all good. Hope you all receive urs soon.
                Cheers.

              • @mckayver: ordered the 11h July and still processing.

  • Did any one find any nice cover for this one, i could not find anything local

    • eBay is ur friend mate.

  • Ordered on 7th July and receive no update at all.
Sent tobydeals support 2 emails for status update and have not receive a response fo far.
    "Status: Processing"

    • I sent them a message on the 11th July asking a question and they just got back to me today. In the meantime I ordered a phone on the 13th and it has been tracked as leaving Hong Kong.

Seems to be hit and miss for different people but the majority are getting it pretty quickly so hopefully it's just a tracking error for you.

      • Yeah, mostly within 2 weeks time.

      • +1

I like to give them a go so will wait till next week and see how it goes.
        Fingers crossed !

        • Is your order still in processing. I ordered on 11 July and still processing.

          • @mckayver: Same. How is it going now?

            • @OldBugger: I started emailing them every day from Wednesday 15th last week asking them why my order is still processing. Tuesday morning I sent a message on tobydeals Facebook Australia for help. Tuesday night I received this email.
I am very sorry to inform you that there has been a delay in the processing of your order.
We would like to offer our sincere apologies for this.
We are working hard to ensure we can ship out your order as soon as possible.
Our expectations are that we can achieve this within the next few working days.
We hope this delay won't affect any plans you might have made.
Please do let us know if you require further support.

The next day (Wednesday) my order changed to packing so I'm guessing it's going to stay that way for a few days. I'm relieved it's not stuck in limbo in their system though. I'll keep posting the progress.

            • @OldBugger: When did you place the order.

              • @mckayver: Only recently. What type did you order? You think the Facebook message prompted them?

                • @OldBugger: Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro 6GB/64GB Dual Sim - Tropical Green. ordered on 11/7/20

Do I think the fb message prompted them to reply. It may have been a coincidence for the reply a few hours later. I'm not stressing anymore that I would have to get my money back with PayPal protection. It's just going to be delayed a few days.
I did buy a phone 2 years ago from them with no problems so I guess I lucked out this time.

                  • @mckayver: If this works out OK I'm still going to buy another phone from them in a couple of months. I bought this one for my mum.

                • @OldBugger: email. OMG it's about time.

Thank you for shopping with TobyDeals.

Please be informed that your parcel has been picked up by courier and left our warehouse.

However, please note that courier could not provide us the tracking number yet at the moment until they have your parcel to be process at their facility or hub.

Rest assured that once we receive the tracking number of your parcel from courier, we will send you another "Dispatched" email with tracking number inside for your reference.

In some occasions, it is normal that it may take up 48 – 72 working hours for respective courier to update the parcel’s first status in the tracking link.

                  • @mckayver: That email doesn't make much sense. Why they don't have the tracking number now I don't know.

                    Thanks for the update.

                  • +1

@mckayver: You should receive another email soon, may be tomorrow with the tracking number.

                    • @koolchamp81: yep, In Transit to Destination. Holy shit finally.

                    • @koolchamp81: The next delay will be in Melbourne because of coronavirus. Fantastic. Lol

                      • @mckayver: My intuition says that you will receive urs within next two days if not already received. Also if there is no update on the tracking then call Toll people and ask about it. They will definitely have some answer. I had to call them twice and it was delivered very next day.

                      • +1

@mckayver: I just got the email stating it is being packed. 🍀🙋

I wonder where it's being packed and sent from?

                        • +1

                          @OldBugger: Hong Kong

                            Got yours yet?

        • Arrived on 17/Aug !! 40 days from start to end.
I was expecting around 1 month. Anyway it's here as ordered.

  • +1

Received mine today. The idiots sent the wrong colour…Ordered the interstellar gray and they give me the green from OP. Probably couldn’t get stock on the gray so they thought they could sneak in the green.

Guess I’ll just chalk this one up to experience and give these guys a wide berth in future.

    GL to other buyers.

    • Are you sure that isn't the grey? I ordered the grey as well and it looks blue/green however that's that's just how it is. It's not a pure grey like you'd have expected.

      • +1

Maybe you're right…Could be just the xiaomi photos which are misleading. The one I have definitely has a strong blue/greenish tint to it, nothing like the store photo. Not quite what I was expecting but if you've got the same, I guess that's just how it is.

Aside from the color, the phone is still quite nice mind you…good buy for the money.

  • Bit late to this deal, but still seems active.

Will be worthy upgrade from my trusty Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 that is starting to
What cases did everyone decide on?

    • +1

      It came with one.

I came from the note 3 too. It's not too different from it. Just larger and faster… and if course, much better battery!

      • Oh right yeah was a surprise when opened it up and there was one in there, was very quick shipping too as got within a week of ordering.

Did order a Nikken case, however don't think that will come as quick. But yes phone is very nice and much bigger than thought compared to Note 3.

        • Yeah much bigger. I also am liking the face unlock feature.

On another note, I backed up all data from old phone and restored to this one. But had to use a different app from Playstore to do SMS and call history. Not sure if I should have restored everything as I am finding some lag in opening some apps. Have you experienced this?

          • @OldBugger: For SMS and call history I used [this app] (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu…) and backed it up into Google Drive and then you just follow prompts to restore into your default SMS app(mine is Textra)

Had annoying issue with Whatsapp requiring phone number to login, which made it hard as this new phone requires nano-SIM now but Telstra sorted me out quickly.

  • Can't decide whether to get this or not. One thing is bothering me is the display

  • Given the differences in experience I wanted to share mine so far.

Last year I ordered a phone from Toby that wasn’t in stock and I cancelled the order so I was pretty reluctant but the price is so much cheaper than everyone else.
Warranty wise no difference to AliExpress trying to claim if I ever had to.

Ordered midday Thursday and got shipped notification Friday 10pm.
Standard insured shipping selected and it’s coming via dpex.
Already shows up as bagged on the tracking site.

So good experience so far less than 36 hours from order to shipped.
Hopefully dpex ships fast but I can’t fault tobydeals so far.

    • Mine was ordered on the 14th August and arrived on 25th. Standard shipping insured (DPEX)
