    Don't forget 5% cashback..

    Also found 3600 for $268 delivered https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07STGGQ18/ref=ox_sc_ac…

Can't pull the trigger though, seller looks scammy..

What you don't trust a seller called tianjinwurunjinshucailiaoxiaoshouyouxiangongsvnf?

      • +1

        Definently a scam mate.
I got 2 x amd 3700x for $250 from amazon and got scammed. Got my money back from Amazon but it took some time so just be aware.

    • lol yeh i've seen that … i believe the seller keeps popping up and if you notice there's a Mobo + cpu option.. supposedly its the price of the "mobo" definitely a scammer.

      • Mobo + CPU option is sold by Amazon US, I think it's just an error with the product pages.

New price on Amazon for the 3700X compared to May @ $465.

Lower compare to May, but higher compared to June @ $444.

  • I'm just surprised this is still going for the same price that I bought my 3700X (thanks to OzBargain) around August/September last year…

… and yes I'm aware of COVID-19's impact on supply chains/etc, but given the number of leaks about the impending 4xxx launch, this pricing does seem to go against the usual expectation of a gradual decline.

    • Thats probably becase many are buying newer PCs/laptops due to work from home or other reasons.

    • I don't get it, you gave a reason why there's no gradual decline in prices but then express surprise that it happened.

      • As in, I'm surprised that the supply side impact was enough to offset or balance all the other factors which would have led to a price decline.

  • +2

Is this price likely to come down further? Looking to build a PC in the next month or so but willing to wait if price is heading south.

    • +6

i'm tempted too but holding out till around Sept when 4000 series get announced/released … so i'd expect a little more discount at that point..

    • +10

If you're really after bang for buck AND you can afford to wait, these 3000 series CPU's will drop in price significanctly when Ryzen 4000 arrives which is meant to be before years end…. which translates to before black friday unless AMD are total idiots. So if you can wait til ~ oct ~ sometime then you should see decent discounts on 3600, 3700x, 3800x etc. but dont expect them to halve in price.

Oct is still a while away though, so if you need to build next month, this is a decent price still.

      • +1

Is it possible that this CPU might be like $300 after a couple of months the 4000 series is released? Or is that being too optimistic?

        • Maybe. Impossible to know. Especially if COVID is still raging towards xmas 2020.

But going on say the Ryzen 2700 which launched at $330USD and was selling for $140USD in end of life sales… I'd be guessing a 3700X for $300-350 AUDish after 4000 CPus have settled in isnt out of the question …. on their way out of stock.

    • +2

There are rumors that the Ryzen 4000 series will release this month so you might want to wait.

      • +2

The rumour is that the Ryzen 4000G series will - not the normal 4000 series, which is still expected closer to the end of the year. Basically, the 4000G series is Zen 2 cores (just like this 3700) but with integrated graphics. The normal 4000 series will be Zen 3 cores.

    Upvote for including specs ;)

  • So strange that you cant buy this directly from Amazon.com but need to go through AU

  • Better to just get a 3600, put your money into a good board. Splash out on Zen3 and slot the 3600 into a secondary build or sell it. I just upgraded my 1600 to 3600 for $290. I just went over the top with a $540 MSI MAG Unify X570, so i'll ve sorted for years to come. Will slot a Zen3 in it down the track, and will have many upgrade paths years later when prices are low. You most likely won't need a Unify (I need the 3 PCI 16, wanted 3 M.2), but something like a Tomahawk would work.

    • +1

      What PSU are you using?

      • +2

Corsair AX850 Gold in UnRaid/gaming build (which will have the X570), and a Corsair RM750x W 80 Plus Gold in the 16 Bay DAS that connects to it (which houses all the HDD's)

    • +2

Dunno about going that hard on the motherboard. They promised to support 4th gen ryzen with x370 too but things changed, could happen again few years down the line.

      • I would of gone cheaper but I need the 3 16 PCI, want 3 M.2, etc. As it's a UnRaid server build and I have a Mellanox Connect-X3 NIC + SAS/Sata controller that needs to slot in next to the GPU, otherwise I'd of saved the money and got a Tomahawk, or similar. Thank goodness for Afterpay on ebay, though.

      • Also, even so, in the future prices for Zen2, Zen3 will be lower than ever and that will be amazing. It's like how I slotted out my old 2500k in a secondary build for a Xeon. Getting a 3950x or 4950x down the line will be sweet. But saying that, x570 will support 4th gen, and probably not 5th, who knows. I more meant upgrading to a higher 3/4th gen down track.

Decent price. I bit the bullet a few weeks ago on a 3800X for $615 so for this price I'd easily recommend the 3700X.

    Waiting to drop below $200…

  • How is Amazon US with warranty/returns? Thinking of pulling the trigger with this RAM. More worried about RAM TBH https://www.amazon.com.au/TEAMGROUP-T-Force-Vulcan-3200MHz-D…

    • Generally speaking RAMs dont go bad that easily. So if its not DOA (in which case Amazon should refund/replace), it should be fine and worth taking the risk.

Good price, paid $541 Amazon au when the when was $465, got a second price protection claim approved again for $456 with 28 degrees.. pretty happy with that.

  • Anyone know if Amazon AU via Amazon US qualifies for 28 Degrees Shopper Protection insurance's "Australian retailer" bit?

    • +1

hey mate, haven't had an issue with it, bought mine from Amazon AU claimed twice, it's still through Amazon AU website but get it quicker ;)

    • ok, sounds safe. This is the sort of thing that likely would drop quite a bit in price over the next year with prices being restored and the new series coming out soon.

  • Wasn’t this 440ish in may from amazon AU direct ?

    3800x better and cheaper?

  • Supply is one thing, but as we go deeper into Covid recession I think demand will start to fall as fear kicks in for people who have been unable to find jobs in the past 6 months (from march - Sept)

  • Dropped to $445 :)
