Found this while looking around on Vodafone's website. Seems like it's a good deal. While it's $50 it does have a 60-day expiry period (=$25/month) which makes it comparable to (or better than) their $35 All-time plan or the $30 Cap, both of which have 500MB data.

This All-time plan has 1GB data, infinite text and calls any time while the cheaper $35 plan only has unlimited calls during off-peak periods.

And when recharging on My Vodafone, they'll double your credit (=$100) until the end of November: http://vodafone.com.au/personal/prepaid/home/options/all-tim…

I've been browsing on their site a few times recently and have just noticed this 60-day expiry. Might be a new thing as it still says 30-day expiry in the terms & conditions and in the upper link. This one says the 60-day expiry: http://shop.vodafone.com.au/all-plans?id=1700027

Update: this is a starter pack though, so it might not be as attractive unless you want to buy one every 2 months. Maybe move to forum?

    • Yeah I'm aware of those… I do prefer Vodafone as it's more convenient if you ever want to pop into their store for service or help.

      • when do you ever "pop into their store for service or help."??!?!?!?

        really?

"hi vodaphone store, which button do i press to get 8 on on my keypad"

I've done it. My phone stopped working correctly. Turned out the sim card was rooted. They replaced it on the spot and in an hour or two I was back on the mobile network.

          So no, he's no fool.

haha, I've visited their stores many times in the past year and I found them rather helpful. Once I wanted to swap my normal sim for a micro sim, and the other time it was a reception problem and other times I purchased recharge vouchers as I had to go past the store anyway.

IMO it's similar to why I'm sticking with CommBank instead of UBank even though their interest rates are higher. A physical store would be more convenient, but maybe vice versa for others.

        • @the discombobul…

So you are after support for a phone on a pre-paid plan?

Which means you have to also have bought the phone with Vodafone…

That has nothing to do with mobile carrier service.

        • So you are after support for a phone on a pre-paid plan?

Which means you have to also have bought the phone with Vodafone…

Nope. The issue was with the sim card, not the phone.

That has nothing to do with mobile carrier service.

That would be correct if your afore-mentioned assumptions were.

        • @the discombobul… Fair enough, rare occurrences like that aren't worth dealing with higher costs on a similar network though. (Never had a problem that couldn't be solved by calling up.)

@iSamurai look into GoalSaver acct with CBA.

      • Why would you need to pop into their store for service and help? O_o

    • On the Optus network. In my experience it is even worse than the Vodafail network, with even less support.

      Hell no.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to make "Infinite" Calls…

    • +1

Indeed. The Vodafone network is still very much broken in many locations. Just see Whirlpool or Twitter for evidence. There is a stream of complaints.

    • I'm pretty sure you won't be able to make "Infinite" Calls…

This depends on your interpretation of quantum mechanics.

"Infinite call options depending on your recharge amount" this does not mean "infinite calls" as per the title.

  • how come I see 30 days expired in terms and conditions

  • I haven't been to a bank, postoffice or Vodaphone store for a long time and I don't see the need to go. You can do almost everything online or by phone.
Anyway, if I buy prepaid I would buy Woolies one with more data, able to make more calls and 45 days expire peroid.

    • then you would be on craptus which you would be sharing the pipe with virgin mobile, virgin mobile broadband, tpg mobile, boost, and a craptacular number of 3rd party subscriber.

Where I stay, I can't stream a proper youtube MTV for jack without interruptions.. good luck with your prepaid data, because you'd be lucky to be able to fully use it all.

      • So far in this thread I've seen that Optus and Vodafone both have essentially unusable networks. Is the implication here the only choice for reasonable service quality is Telstra?
