Cobram Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil 3L $30 (Was $37) @ Woolworths

630

OzB's favorite Olive Oil. Reference to last time this deal came up here.

I like the 750 Ml bottles as it includes the spout and is easy to use but half price was ages ago, and this deal is as good as half price.

Just including benefits cause I had some more time!

Don't forget to use 5% off Wish gift cards to further reduce price to $28.50!

  • How do I refill my 750ml bottles?

    • +9

Flip the spout out of the bottle with the back edge of a butter knife. Fill bottle, you may like to use a funnel. Return spout into bottle.

      • +2

Thanks for the detailed explanation! But yeh main thing was how to get spout off haha WIll give it a go.

      • +2

Yeah, that's what I do, but I use blade side of the small kitchen knife. They come off very easily - but require bit of convincing to get back on. Been doing this for years (most bottles refilled 3-4 times and still going strong).

In fact just refilled 3 bottles this morning from 3L can I got from Coles in June.

I use an apple corer to put the spout back on. It fits snuggly around the spout rim then hit the end with my palm and slam bam thank you mam it seats perfectly.

    • +4

huh? Don't need to bother with knifes and handling the top. I just use a small funnel down the spout. Fill then screw the lid back on as normal.

I've used the same bottle for a while now though; it would be nice if they have a decent discount on the bottles again to refresh it to a new one.

I just decant into an old wine/scotch bottle and put a free pourer into the top. Adds a bit of flair/style to the kitchen and gives me a tv chef vibe.

I always grab the Moro when it's on special, never tried this stuff.

Though Moro sits at a lowly 67% compared to 85% for Cobram.

    Might give it a go!

    • +10

Moro doesn't hold a candle to this stuff!

      • +2

Personal taste, I really don't like the Cobram Estate products (and is the only brand I now actively avoid buying). I'd pick the Moro over this, but my personal choice is the Squeaky Gate products.

    • Gah, I just bought a bottle of The Olive Tree olive oil from Aldi while waiting for another Cobram 750ml half price spesh. Turns out The Olive Tree scores 55% from choice :(

      • And when did choice become a reliable comparison tool lol

    • +2

Moro is usually cheap chemically extracted olive oil unless you pay absolute premium for their top tier stuff. Their top tier stuff base level stuff for Cobram. Buy aussie olive oil. World class at bargain prices.

I believe this was $29 at Coles last week, so not the best price but still decent for what's probably the best oil going in supermarkets

    • With discounted WISH cards this is $28.50, so might be a better option for those that can't get discounted Coles gift cards.

    • ebay plus members had 10% off last month as well when it was also on sale for $29.

    • Yep i bought one for $29 last week at Coles

  • Coles does it for $29
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/545196
That deal only got 20 votes.

    • Does this mean its not now "OzB's Favourite" !!

    • Last woolies deal got 100 upvotes!

      • So when its cheaper at $29, it only gets 20 votes. It shows this $30 price isnt great deal.

  • It's been cheaper before right? I seem to remember $21

Still waiting for the 750mL to go half price this year…

  • +1

I bought 8x 750ml of the Cobram at Coles when they were $6.75 a bottle. Still have some left and should last until the next sale.

    • +1

Will you tell this one to the grandkids?

      • +2

You can even give one, to the grandkids !

  • Not as good as half price of the 750ml.

    • +1

Less packaging and better for the environment though

      • haha.

so customers pay the price of protecting the environment?

        • It’s something to keep in mind when hoarding dozens of glass bottles in order to save a few dollars per litre

    • +1

Half price for 750ml will also come to $1/litre. Same as this big one!

      • +2

        You mean $10/L?

      • No discount this week. Last week it was 750mL for $12.

  • +5

I think Cobrum is made in Australia and made from Australian products.
It’s good to support Australian made produce where possible.

    • Yeah, if local products have good quality. Cobram has been good, hopefully they stay that way.

  • Scrolling through the page quickly I thought this was a 9V battery lol!

  • no deal. the bigger the size the lower the price. I don't see this applies to this deal.

    • same as small bottles on half price!

  • +1

This is wayyy better than some fake extra virgin from Europe.

  • +1

Not a bad deal. Not a bad oil - or at least it was good last time I tried it ages ago. It is certainly better than lot of the rubbish imported European "fake" olive oils. I would also recommend Mount Zero Olive Oils. They are slightly more expensive per 15L than this deal, but are very good olive oils used by many Melbourne restaurants. Often can be found on special, especially during the corona virus crisis since their restaurant customers are no longer buying in same quantities.
