A pretty good price for this super-portable little beauty.

Best feature - if you use NiMH AA batteries, the unit will recharge them itself when you use the AC adaptor :)

Been looking for one of these myself in the past few days and this is at least $15 cheaper than anything else I've seen

  • this is a pretty good little radio. If you want to go further up, http://www.sony.com.au/product/xdr-s16dbp should be available around $140

  • Silly question, but how does this different from the cheaper brands like Akai, Shintaro and Laser which are 1/2 the price?
Maybe if they had AM as well I'd consider.

    • Haven't a lot / all of the AM stations moved to DAB? I could be wrong as I haven't been following too closely.

    • The AM stations are now DAB

      • yes but that assumes you're in a DAB enabled area.

    • Some people still want to have AM for live sport. DAB has a delay of 2 - 4 seconds, so it's no good at the game, or for listening with TV. The only stations that broadcast footy and cricket in WA are on the AM band so I'm not ready to go digital just yet.

What's your point? Akai make some of the cheapest electronics on earth, not to be compared with a quality product like Sangean makes

      • Agreed.sadly akai is one of the cheapie rebadged chinese products available today like soniq, teac, gva, dse, sanyo, awa, vivo.

  • anyone know how much electricity it take when plugged in?
