I missed the 12TB deal so will settle on this. Good for removing and using in a NAS.

This has been this price for ages.

  • 340 at jb

  • Picked up 4 of these last month, shucked and happily running in my ReadNAS. Desperately trying to find new Linux distros;-)

This is not a deal. Regular price.

    $190-200 pre covid.

    $230 during covid.

      $190?

    • +2

So wait until covid ends? Find it cheaper and ill buy it.

    • During Covid these were around $A300

Under $200 would have been a good price for this now.

I think this has been pretty stable at $230ish. Not a bad deal especially vs local sellers, but definitely has been better before and not something to jump out and buy on impulse like some of the other great pricing Amazon has had recently on the larger drives.

I missed the 12TB deal so will settle on this.

    Never Settle.

  • I believe these are air filled whilst the 12tb or 14tb elements are helium filled

The Mybook 8TB helium filled are not bad when they are $230 but they are $270 now
    https://www.amazon.com.au/WD-Desktop-External-Drive-WDBBGB00…

Mybook 10TB isn't terrible at $320 but still doesn't beat the 12TB elements deal
    https://www.amazon.com.au/10TB-Desktop-External-Drive-WDBBGB…

I'd wait for a better deal

    • Mine was helium filled. It's just a lottery at this point depending on what stock you get though

    • These ones are also helium filled. I purchased two last year and two again last month. Same drive models still:

      WD80EMAZ-00WJTA0

      • I had these in all 4 purchased.

  • Fair enough if it's helium filled not too bad

I bought a mybook 8tb a while back and it was an EZAZ

    • I also got the EZAZ in my 8TB MyBook bought from Computer Alliance.

    • I just received one of these WD 8TB desktop drives from Amazon. It has an EZAZ white drive in it.

      • Excuse my ignorance, but is that suitable for shucking and putting into a Synology NAS? Thanks :)

  • it doesn't even have a network interface, how can this be compared with a nas?

  • Does anyone know if this HDD good match for PS4 as extension???

    • I would go Seagate for a PS4, their larger drives are Barracuda Pro 7200 RPM. I picked up a 10TB from a deal here. I was going to shuck it and put it in my PC, but it runs so fast on USB 3, I haven't bothered yet. I picked up these for my NAS, as they are slower 5400RPM, so hoping they would run a bit cooler. Plus 8TB is the maximum size my NAS supports.

  • Really not much around in terms of solid deals for NAS drives - I've been waiting for something but starting to lose my patience…

    • I purchased 2 of these, couldn't wait.

      • Considering doing the same (getting 2) but since I'm beginning to think I can't wait - it seems the delivery wait for these is 3.5 weeks :(

I suppose all Amazon US is a bit slow

        • I ordered mine on Wednesday and hasn't been sent yet.
          "Arriving Aug 10 - Aug 21"

          • @PR0r: I'm getting 9 extra days if I order now (Sydney)
earliest with free delivery 19 - 21 Aug

            • @slick7: In the past, my orders usually have arrived well before that time frame. Don't forget cashback if you do order. I got ~$20 for my two.

              • @PR0r: thanks - wasnt going to forget but was gonna ask - how do you work out the category for cashback purposes?

Top of the page says: Computers›Data Storage›External Data Storage
Cashrewards seems to suggest they have cashback on "PC" or "Electronics"

  • This is now $225.81 including delivery via Prime which is a pretty good deal

I just got my $310 12Tb Elements and shucked it for an EMFZ not bad
