Swann 8 Channel Security System: 1080p Full HD DVR-4580 with 1TB HDD & 8x1080p Bullet Cameras $329 @ Bunnings

140

First time poster. Please be gentle.

Came across this security system in-person @ Bunnings Warehouse Ringwood, Vic for $329.00.

Couldn't locate this on Bunnings website even after the staff suggesting keyword and product codes searches hence can't indicate if state or nationwide (delivery or online order not possible). Only close match from Swann Communications is model (SWDVK-845808BV) showing on their website which is for $599 (https://www.bunnings.com.au/swann-dvr-security-system-with-1…).

It was kept with rest of the stock behind the counter and it didn't have sale or clearance label. I think there was atleast one more left on the shelf. Best call your local stores to check stock.

The model is out of stock in majority of the places I tried to search for comparison.

On official Swann website (https://www.swann.com/au/swdvk-845928v#) this model (SWDVK-845928V) is OOS too with price $699.95

  • Not this is not PoE but BNC

Swann (uniden, etc.) stuff is junk. If you want good value, try Reolink. If you want decent go for Hikvision or Dahua.

  • Surely Victorians don't need security cameras now that they're all at home anyway? ;)

it's to keep an eye on the house while we try to sneak out of state borders.

Many thanks OP - great find and great post.

1080p with 8 cameras and BNC cables (8 x 18m) - meaning I don't need to provide separate power to each camera.

I bought one yesterday in SEQld. Please remove [VIC] from title.

Some responders above deride specs of this system, and I would agree that one could spend a lot more and get a better system. They don't however provide any link as to where Ozbargainers can get a similar 8 camera system for under $400. On that basis we are likely entitled to ignore their derision. Prob just 15yo's.

Bunnings I/N is 0081489 by which availability can be checked by phoning a Bunnings store or via the PowerPass app.

    Bunnings PowerPass price is $312.55

Removed [VIC] and Ringwood from title. Cheers.

    • There is a six-camera unit in a few stores also: Bunnings I/N 0081491 for $315 (PowerPass $299.25)

      Or four camera I/N 0081492 for $269 (PP: $255.55) & I/N 0175058 for $299 (PP: $284.05)

It looks like Swann's "2K" rating 1080p appears to be 3MP and their "4K" are 5MP.

It is unclear to me if all of these cams incorporate infrared lighting of the area being captured by infrared cameras.

I would suggest that those commenting aren't 15 year olds but know a lot more about cameras and NVR setups than you. POE is a much more future proof setup allowing you to change equipment more easily than dated BNC. Also the picture quality from the brands listed above is rubbish. At least some of us bother to do research prior to wasting time and energy on complete crap quality gear. No point having cameras that have such low image quality that the footage is near useless. If price is the only thing you are going on you might as well buy the fake cameras. Cheap doesn't equal value. There's a reason these are discounted. Do yourself a favour and go for something like this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/548275

      • The product maybe fit for purpose/suitable for some and not for others. I would support statements that are against voting that this package is not a deal within it's outlined specifications with other products. Rationale of posting this deal isn't a promotion of which brand and specs are superior.

Hope you kept the receipt. So you can return it.

Share a current/active deal that counters value for money and quality to support your statement.

        • Bahaha there is no quality in this system. Have you set it up and compared it to a hik, dahua or reolink system to truly know how much swann sucks? Its a antique system.

The value is shit when you get what you pay for. Looknup whirlpool fourms to see all the complaints on Swann gear. Its always the should of spent more and got a quality system lots replacing it for hik or dahua

        • A deal does not imply a good purchase.

E.g. I could sell 2 tonnes of fresh cow pat for a great deal of $10. Doesn't mean it's quality or provides utility worth $10.
