$19 + Free Shipping (+ $8 Insurance PER DELIVERY ): Team Elite 4GB DDR3 1333MHz Notebook RAM

68

The website say's the price is reduced from $39, but I think it's the free shipping that makes this a techrific deal for those who can't get themselves to a store with reasonable prices.

Note: The $8 Shipping Insurance is compulsory, but I don't think it kills the deal. As I said, it's good for those who can't get to a physical store…

Also: You only pay $8 Shipping insurance for multiple items, so buy 2 and it's $23 each; buy 4 and it's $21 each. Link: http://www.techrific.com.au/shipping_insurance.php

Might be free shipping, but must pay $8- for shipping insurance.

I'm getting charged $8 for each stick of RAM I'm trying to purchase. want 4 sticks, being charged $108 ($194 + $84)

      From their FAQ
      Q : If I purchase 2 items, do I need to pay 2 X Shipping Insurance ?
A : No, we only charge 1 X Shipping insurance for each delivery. If you order more than 1 item, we will adjust the final price manually once we receive the order.

      from the confirmation screen:
      4 x Team Elite So-DIMM 4GB DDR3 1333MHz Notebook Memory RAM (Lifetime Warranty)
      - Shipping Insurance: (For your Peace of Mind) AU$108.00

      • Yes it seems odd that the shopping basket doesn't automatically take into account insurance on multiple items, however they make it quite clear you'll only be charged once.

          Still, definitely not buying until they fix this so the checkout says it's $84 ($19 * 4 + $8 * 1) not $108.
Gah, the * symbol didn't render in my first post, should have said $108 ($19 * 4 + $8 * 4)… Busy at work still.

    • $8 compulsory shipping insurance which kinda kills the deal for me,
Please note that in the title
    • Sorry, have now added to title.

  • Great deal but free shipping negated by the required $8 shipping insurance though.
Oops - previous comments weren't there when commenting…

  • also these guys seem to get some mad reviews on their grey import gear

    • mad = good ?

Who knows? The Queen's English is dead, yo.

    • You'll only be charged $8 per delivery, as I have now noted in the description. Maybe that bulk order will work after all.

    • Yeah, that per-item nonsense has put me off it.

    Free shipping + $8 shipping insurance = $8 shipping.

    Hidden charges fail.

  • $8 insurance for a $19 item? how often do they break?

only charge 1 X Shipping insurance

sounds like they added the shipping into the insurance

edit: yea…i see alot of other comments on the same thing. its abit sneaky for me

    • Point taken, but imho $27 total is still a good price if you can't get to MSY etc. Also as mentioned above, according to the FAQ you will only pay 1x $8 shipping insurance for multiple items. Therefore x2 = $23 each; x3 = $21.67; x4 = $21.

It wouldn't cost $8 to post a stick of ram even with insurance so the postage isn't free, they are making money off the postage.

    • The total cost is what's important, and $27 for one stick is competitive. If you buy multiple, then the price per stick quickly becomes pretty darn good.

Negging this deal for the shady insurance offer, the retailer sohuldn't insult our intelligence, postage insurance will NOT cost $8.

$8 on Registered Post at Aus Post would insure a $600 item..

    • How about looking at the total cost compared to other alternatives to determine value? See my reply above.

The $8 insurance ISN'T optional… extremely dodgy. It would otherwise be a good deal.

    • See my above reply.

I recently bought 4GB Kingston RAM of rougly the same specifications from netplus for $22 delivered. However that deal is over. The reason for the neg is that I don't take kindly to stores advertising FREE SHIPPING!!!, and then slapping you with $8 non-optional insurance.

        • Was that notebook RAM as in this deal though?

        • Its like a pathetic scam whereby they just simple rename the shipping fee to insurance fee.

        • That Netplus deal was really good, but not vastly better than this one if buying more than one stick. The Netplus deal was $42 delivered per pair. This deal is $46 delivered per pair. I do concede that Team Elite may be a bit more sucky compared with Kingston though.

  • Nookular, if you know the deal isn't good.. there's no point defending it. You're not a rep and you don't get paid doing their job.

There's no need to get all defensive and butthurt when you get negged.

People will still think it's a crap deal regardless of what you say if they have paid less for it.

I'm not a rep but I do think it's a good deal. Unless you can point me to a better alternative..

      • I don't mind if people neg on it being a crap deal (which it is not). The down-votes are coming from people who dislike the webstore's marketing approach of calling it free shipping but charging shipping insurance. I did not make this post to poll peoples opinion on their marketing approach, but on the merits of the deal itself. Is that really too much to ask?

By the way I totally agree that this marketing ploy blows, but I'd still buy from them if they are the cheapest around.

  • No to insurance!

  • Insurance? Really?
