After a bit of negotiation with Ali here's a new record low price on the previously popular AMD Ryzen 7700 CPU and considering it's sold locally for $479 from Centre Com with the basic cooler it's extremely good value at this price. Stack with upsized cashback for further savings.

This one offers 8 cores, 16 threads, base clock of 3.8GHz, boost clock of 5.3GHz and uses the AM5 socket. Good for gaming and multi core workloads.

The store has plenty of good reviews and was posted previously. Since this product is marked as Big Save you're eligible for free returns in 90 days and easy refunds if the package is lost, damaged or no delivery in 30 business days.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

Just bought a local b650 mobo, this and some ram on marketplace for $580.

Still upvoting as this is a great deal, especially if you are going with an ITX board and want to save as much on the other components as possible.

  • +3

Lol negotiation with Ali… Nice one

    • +4

I only started asking a month ago :P

      • talking to the stores directly ?

  • +6

Excellent deal and am tempted, but guessing it'll mostly be a side-grade and not worth the hassle of switching from an Intel Core I5 12600K.

  • +7

Thanks OP, just got one, $227AUD + 14% topcashback should return me around $31 … making the total cost for the CPU $196

    • +1

what is topcashback? how do you get those discounts?

      • +6

Its one of many cash back sites.
        Everyone on OZBargains uses them.
Shopback or Cashrewards are other two

        https://www.topcashback.com.au/home/

You search Aliexpress with it once you have made your account and when it takes you to Aliexpress you search for this deal and place your order.. the order gets tracked that way. In 2 to 4 months you get cashback

        • +4

Awesome I signed up and bought some with it thanks mate!

  • +5

I'd marry my 7700 if I could. Love every aspect of it.

    • +1

      Legendary cpu considering its price/performance

  • +4

I need to hand back my OzB licence… I bought the 7700 earlier for about $270! I completely missed the cheaper store and this page. :(

What's the best budget air cooler for one of these?

    • +2

Thermalright PS120SE for $56.90 on Amazon ($57.90 for the RGB version)

    • +2

Thermalright Assassin X should do fine at $30, though I’d step up a bit and get the peerless assassin dual tower for $60. Alternatively, you can get any of the different flavors of the thermalright 360mm AIOs for ~$80-90

    • +13

It's a good thing I cover such concerns in the deal description isn't it? The store has been posted before and it has high feedback, unlike those scam stores with 0.0% feedback and too good to be true prices. Plus this deal was organised with AliExpress themselves.

      • my bad, missed that bit while scrolling. Also are they not showing gst in the card anymore?

        • +1

GST is always shown at checkout.

          • -1

@Clear: weird as its not showing for me.

    • +3

This store has been around for ages, search them on this forum.

    • If the store has a high rating with lots of reviews and sales its fine

  • +15

    7700 - $220
    Maxsun ITX - $200
    Fractal ITX case - $150
    RAM - peanuts
    GPU - A kidney

Why are times so great yet so awful for upgrading :(

    • +4

Because everyone purchased only Nvidia cards and Nvidia got greedy. Now they sell all their GPUs to corperations and the gamers get the scraps.
All our hopea for good value GPUs are with AMD and intel now

      • +3

I intentionally kept my oldish 6700XT for my upgrade as I just can't justify more than $400 for a GPU. Especially with less than 12GB VRAM, to hell with that.

    • Haha! Ain't that the truth!

  • Not home so i cant do my proper research, but does anyone know the power effiency of this cpu? looking to build a low power draw ITX PC

    • +1

This CPU uses a little more power then a Ryen 7600 it would work in an ITX ganing PC.

  • +1

Damn these keep dropping, thankfully mine was ~$190 AUD so not too far off. If anyone is unsure if it is genuine mine has been working perfectly for over a month now.

    • how did they send this cpu to you?
      e.g. bubble envelop, box etc?

is it has no cpu cooler, no box, just a tray CPU?

      • They come in a very small bubble wrapped bag. The CPU itself is inside its plastic clam shell enclosure. Same one that comes inside the retail box.

        • so you bought one previously?

how do you think they would handle warranty within 90 days and afterwards?

          • @pinkybrain: Warranty with Aliepxress? Just assume your buying second hand… I've claimed small issues with other things before in the past within 30 days and i got a partial refund. i was happy.

  • Is anyone else getting this error at checkout?

Sorry, the coupon code you entered is based on a first come first served basis and has been used up by other shoppers. Please enter a different coupon code or explore other discounts on AliExpress.

  • +2

so no 3 year warranty for this cpu because i'm buying from ALI express from China right? google ai says
"The AMD Ryzen 7 7700 generally comes with a 3-year warranty when purchased in Australia. This is a standard warranty period for AMD processors in a box, and many retailers also offer this as part of their own extended warranties. " so if it stops working after 90 days im screwed right?

    • +4

Yep, at this price though it's worth the risk and CPU failure is incredibly rare (well AMD..:)

      • bit worried i might be buying 8x for work, for our new office computers, i'd have to put my word on it that these things don't break within 3 years or i'll have to cover it from my pocket ><D. not sure if i should pull the trigger or just go for 8x Intel Core i5-12400 that come under warranty from australian seller instead ^^P

        • +4

          buy from Aus store

          • +1

@Logical: thanks mate! appreciate your opinion ><)

          • +2

@Logical: Agreed, not worth the risk for a work pc that you'd have to pay out of pocket for

            • +1

              @Camw: Thanks for your opinion!

        • +1

bit worried i might be buying 8x for work, for our new office computers, i'd have to put my word on it that these things don't break within 3 years or i'll have to cover it from my pocket

if work is paying for it, just use official AU sellers..

what benefit do you personally get buying from aliexpress which you may have to pay for out of your pocket if it fails within 3 years etc?

          • +1

@pinkybrain: Ceo gets to save ~$1600 upgrading CPUs. Enough savings for a nice leather jacket imo.

      • +1

Rare but not impossible. I've had the onboard usb die on my 5000 series and im not the only one.

    • +1

25 years of building PC's.. I've never seen a broken CPU. I've once seen a degraded due to electromigration CPU due to overclocking but the only thing that you needed to do to fix that CPU was only run it at default stock speeds. It was an AMD Athlon Thunderbird 750Mhz

  • +2

Anyone spot any cheap mobos in here

    • +1

There has been MSI B650M Gaming WiFi for $159 on Amazon, I think it will be back some day.

      • +1

Lots of other stores have the same mobo for not much more ($169 + delivery)

      • It's back to $159 which is a good pair with 7700

  • +2

    Absurdly good value

  • Anyone have succes with cashback since this is an affiliated item?

    • +1

My 14% topcashback has tracking for my order. Wll know in a few days after its posted

  • Any mini ITX motherboard recommendations?

    • +2

Maybe this one? It’s not as cheap as the previous deal but with coupons it comes down a bit
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/899330

      • Thanks, I've seen this recommended! What's the best way to find Ali Express coupons?

        • +1

Usually on the product page. If you purchase it alone use “AUMY16”. If you want to bundle it with the cpu then use “AUMY50” (I think it qualifies but could be wrong)

  • +2

was planning to get the R5 7500f but my goss this deal is a deal breaker! more performance at similar pricing. thanks OP!

  • +1

Will buying in USD get extra tariffs applied even if it’s shipping to Australia?

    • +1

      no

    • +3

We're not in America. Tarrifs are just a tax US residents pay customs when they purchased goods that aren't made in the USA. Nothing changes for the sellers.

    • tariffs is an import tax.. if it doesn't get imported into the USA it will never get taxed.

  • +1

Thanks @Clear. I was tossing up between this and the 7800x3d but figured if I need to I'll upgrade in AM5 at some point and will save my money now.

Now for a deal on ram and a board.

  • +2

Thanks Op - great deal to upgrade from my old but reliable 6700k

Can anyone recommend a good value AM5 ATX Mobo to pair with this?

    • +2

Few options - Gigabyte B650 Aorus elite ax ( Latest bios updates enable PCIE-5.0 on the graphics slot ) so both the GPU and 1x nvme slot now support PCIE 5.0 at the same time.
They cost a little more then cheaper boards but your getting something with great VRM that will let you run a new Zen6 24 core (12x12 CCX) nice and cool when it comes out in December 2026 if you want.

ATX - standard size (There white versions too if needed)
      https://www.mwave.com.au/product/gigabyte-b650-aorus-elite-a…

mATX - smaller size (There white versions too if needed)
      https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/motherboards/amd-socket-…

      • +1

perfect, thanks for those recommendations 👍

        • I'm personally waiting for MSI B650M-A Pro, has pretty good VRM's as well(2 CPU input power plugs) and should be $178 when its back in stock from centre com

      • Any ram recommendations to pair with this board and 7700 cpu?

  • is 9700 performance better than 7700?

  • +2

    Back up to AU$305

  • +1

Tempted but I don't think I'll see any benefit coming from a 10400f and a 3070 for gaming

    • You would see a jump in performance for sure. but the 10400f is good enough and "FREE" cause you already have it

  • +1

Man this was suchhhh a good deal…

I'm on the 5600X though at 1440p. I'm not sure the major tangible benefits I'd see bumping to Am5. Also ITX.. I know there's the Maxsun boards or whatever they are. Have a 3060 Ti. I feel I'd benefit more with a new gpu…

If there was another 5700X3D deal close to 200 I'd jump onto that but doesn't look like there will be those again :(

  • +1

For those who missed out you can get it here for a little more ( $222.84 )
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/905535

    • +1

What's the go with these listings that don't seem to list an obvious seller?

There is a 7800x3d listed for about $522AUD but it doesn't state who the seller is.

      • +1

If you add it to you CART and go to checkout.. you will see the seller's name under the item itself.
I know its a little strange its not clearly shown on some listings but you can always see it at checkout. :) Hope that helps

  • Anyone’s get delivered yet? Another cpu (5700x) ordered within minutes of this arrived yesterday but this one seems to be stuck in HK still

    • Same boat as you. Says its still in HK.

      • Ok good (kinda) to know. AliExpress eta is 28th so I don’t have to hit the panic button yet.

        • Agreed. Unfortunately, me checking the tracking details every 15 minutes isn't making it move any faster either.

      • What exactly does it say on your tracking page?

Anyone here have theirs up and running? I’ve run some 3dmark benchmarks and getting way lower scores than expected. Approx bottom 20% of results and no improvement over the 8840u cpu I had before that. Please send me a message if you’ve tested yours.
