4 Channel H.264 DVR with 3G iPhone Connectivity & 4 CCD Cameras $499 Save $500

50

I've been looking for some good security cameras and just saw this on the latest DSE catalog, not sure if these are the lowest price on the market but seems like a very good drop from its original price.

I think it meant 3G network and not 3G or 3GS iPhone types…

        why wouldn't it work over 2G/GPRS ???

can't rely on 3G when with Virgin Mobile…

        • probably bandwidth limitations … 2G/GPRS carries very little data

        • I guess you could, since 3G is sort of the LTE its a marketing thing to say 3G phones can see, also the speed. If you wish to see smooth video then your data connection will need to be pretty decent.

        • My Optus 3G didn't even let me to make calls or send sms.

But back to the topic, how can an iPhone interact with this cameras?

          probably bandwidth limitations

i often get better youtube performance on Virgin 2G than on 3G so i don't know why this device would be different?

  • Its an Iphone App to connect to the system.

$499 is a lot of money for an iphone app… I'm pretty sure this deal includes hardware too…

      • Checked with DSE, it includes the full bundle, camera PVR and the lot

        • is the app free, or do you need to pay extra ?

          JV,
My understanding is that these cameras connects to the PVR, the PVR connects to the net (RJ45 maybe) and use some sort of dynamic dns or something. So from your smart phone you can just use the browser to check the camera view.

  • Is this setup any good? Are the camera suitable for outside use?
On swann website nearesr I could pick has a retail of $699.

  • Does anyone know how this system compares to the DVR4-2600 with PRO-580 Cameras?

  • There is also Android apps on the Swann wewbsite. Just not sure about this model DVR.

I bought an old system from them ages ago, it was in as new condition although they didnt erase the content on the hard drive so I had all this stuff from a store on there.

    • $416- posted.

I also doubt these units have a 1TB drive. More likely 500GB.

    • If they didn't take the website offline late yesterday.

  • The Swannstore ones have a 500Gb drive. No mention of a drive at all in the Dick Smith ones (it just says up to 1Tb).

  • DSE. Out of Stock

  • is this any good?
