    Does this stink? Any reviews?

    • Review on Kmart website. I didn’t buy it as I already have plenty.

    • It doesn't smell bad at all. Alcohol and aloe vera. The pump dispenser shoots out way too much liquid, so you have to be precise to only allow a little out. NQR in VIC might still have some for $6/L.

      • Great. Thanks for the info.

        • My apologies, but I just noticed that this is a lower alcohol version of the Swisscare 1L bottle that I have (mine is 75% alcohol). The dispenser looks identical, however.

    • Yes, very industrial smell, similar to Scott Brand and like the one at Westfield Garden City

Scott's is the worst smelling avoid if it smells like that

        • i only use them at Coles pump stations.

but otherwise yeah if i had other choice i would not get Scott

      • Update, after using it little longer, it’s not too bad. Does have a strong smell when first use. It is okay and somewhat milder as it ages.

    • Isopropyl alcohol smells fine and ethanol smells horrible from what I have heard. No news on what this one is though.

Swiss care but made in China

      Came for this

        @Kangal - That’s what she said!

This is such a dull (repeated) comment. This is a bargain site, by definition if it's cheap it's more likely to be made in Asia. If you don't like it just move on…

I don't find the Bunnings Oomph that bad smelling … just a bit a mediciney/alcohol but wouldn't say it makes me think of "stink". Australia made.
I have this eucalyptus one from CW too; now that I would say is borderline stinky. Very strong smelling at least.

    • +4

The Scotts one? that smells horrible

      • Coles has this one at my locals :(

        • Coles are using them everywhere

I prefer the ones at Woolies, or even better the touchless spray ones on entry

      • +1

Careline brand hand sanitizer was brutal, the scent just doesn't come off your hands for hours. It survived soap and water, other hand sanitizer, everything. Smelled like yellow loo duck. The Ozguard from Woolies was pungent but the smell went almost instantly.

        Looking for some unscented ones.

Get your olfactories checked. It smells like alcohol - for a very short time.

This KMart product doesn't say what % of each ingredient is included. Where did you see the 70% alcohol OP?

        • Its 62.0% alcohol… based on the same product smaller bottle

          https://www.kmart.com.au/product/swisscare-instant-hand-sani…

          • @sureyoucan: It is not the same product as the smaller bottle

The smaller bottle lists alcohol as the main ingredient

Ingredients: Alcohol 62.0%, water, glycerin, carbomer, propylene glycol, triethanolamine, tocopheryl acetate, aloe barbadensis leaf juice.

This bottle lists water as the main ingredient

The alcohol % is a useful marketing point.
If it doesn't say what it has then it probably has a low amount of alcohol in it.

People mentioned this about the Bunnings ones too and whether to be suss "newer" non-% marked ones may be more variable due to the later demand to churn it out. No one can really know I guess. But when I did end up buying some I deliberately picked some bottles towards the back when I saw they had the older 70% label on it. May as well :P

The Swiss don't care cause its made in china .

  • China is literally making a killing.

Where can we buy 1 litre made in Australia for $10?

I support Holden as well but Aussies dont support Holden and so Holden dont support Australia.

Ingredients: Aqua, Alcohol, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, DMDM Hydantoin, Propylene Glycol, Glycerine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Tocopheryl Acetate

If the main ingredient is water I don't know how this has enough alcohol in to to be useful

Bought a couple of these a few weeks back, one for home and one for the car.

It's a bit runny, so be mindful to not squeeze too much out when using it.

There is a dirty joke in there somewhere, have at it :p

    • Do you know what is the alcohol content? Cheers

      • +3

I checked my bottle, definitely 62% in the 1L. When I was buying there were 2 styles of 435ml bottles (one tall/skinny, one shorter/wider), perhaps they are 70% as listed, but this 1L is 62%.

      • +2

62% in the 1L like AngryAlfred said

that's what the guy with the vasectomy said.

  • Is it the one at Kmart entrance as they smell very bad!?!?!?

    • i can tell you Oxygel brand is the worst smelling one!

      • Worse than Scott's it must reek

        • The trick is to apply the sanitizer to your hands not your nose.

  • +1

I am using this one at the moment. No unpleasant smell. I recommend this one. You get get better for $10.

  • Either the ingredients on the kmart web site is wrong, or this ISN'T suitable for covid-19 hand sanitation which requires at least 60% alcohol (ethanol) or 72% isopropyl alcohol

How can this possibly be 62% alcohol if the first ingredient is water?

  • +1

There is a good Australia made Hand santizer available in Aldi. $7 or 8 i think.
    Let's buy local if possible.

    • +1

It's 950ml and made in Malaysia.

      • I need to check the price agian but I am talking about tricare - "australia made" stamp.

        • Yes. I have a 950ml TriCare pump bottle next to my kb. It's been there a while so they may have changed suppliers.

    • LOL. We manufacture hand sanitizers like we manufacture Holdens. If another country is pissed at us, they turn the off switch and boom its Malaysian.

  • +2

OK got the hand sanitiser today. I can confirm it is 62% alcohol. Did a quick flame test. Lights up instantly(invisible) and releases level of heat you would expect from an alcohol flame. Very light on the fragrance, it is one of the better smelling hand sanitisers I have tried.

    • Thanks for the feedback. Good to know :)

    • (insert comment about % alcohol that doesn't light up)

  • Just went to Kmart on the weekend, the version they had on the shelf is now 75% ethanol. Unfortunately it leaves this artificial floral/toilet cleaner scent that's giving me a headache. Even Scott's at Bunnings is better.
