clone notebook, at the price of a brand, no thanks

    • +5

      http://www.xoticpc.com/who-really-makes-laptops-the-industri…
      Read.
ODMs are not "Clone" notebooks, they just mainly sell designs to other companies.
For example, HP, Dell, Acer all buy designs from ODMs.

      • -5

Yes, clone lacking branding, and a few other important things etc. Okay lets call it a Blank then

        • +2

The Clevo brand's been around for a least 8 years…

        • +4

I have had a Clevo laptop for more than half a year now and I have practically used every laptop brand available in the market and I can say it IS the best laptop I have had yet.

By a few other important things do you mean the nvidia and intel stickers that you find on other laptops? :D

        • +2

On my second Clevo/Sager Laptop. Excellent price/performance.

      • -3

Dont disagree with any of the comments, i searched on the brand aswell and its obvous who they are and what they do.

Personally stickers and branding dont mean much to me as i can build and repair notebooks, seems to mean a lot to others though. i Would say its the support and development of the product, not products.

On a positive note the website looks easy to use for downloads etc

good brand! bought one six months ago, not this model. anyways, very good support from them too. and good response team in whirlpool too

Just so people know, the C30 doesn't even have the grunt of the average netbook Atom CPU. It's a single core very low grunt CPU. So don't expect to 3D game on it.

This is basically netbook hardware (you see the same CPU, graphics & HDD in 10"ers) in a notebook wrapper (DVD drive, 14").

I like it. A good work/school computer, with HTPC options.

    • Hmm, with all the options I'd want the price blows out to $783.95. Maybe not as good a deal as I first thought…

      • The offer at $299.95 is a good one, options like bluray burners and ultimate wireless cards for example are expensive options no doubt, but we like to give the customer the flexibility if they are so inclined.

IMO the only options that are of interest on this sort of machine is 4GB RAM/ 500GB 7200 hard disk and Bluray Combo. The rest are a bit overkill for this type of machine.

For $496.95 you can get a Bluray Combo, 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200 drive, i think that is a good bundle.

    • with notebooks you normally have to choose between speed or long battery life, with this AMD apu you get long battery life! except this one can also playback 1080p content, for gaming you need to spend a lot more $$$

      • For gaming, 5 month ago, there was the 170HM

      • 5 hours isn't exactly long battery life. My Dell 14"er with Core Duo from several years ago gets 5 years battery life.

        • so you've never had to charge it then? =P

        • 5 years battery life? I'd like to know what kind of battery your Dell is using…is it nuclear powered?

        • Teeheetypo.

  • Is this from Logical Blue One,
If so Avoid them at all costs
    * They sold me a W170HNwhich had a faulty screw, after one unscrewing it become wrecked.
    * They then blamed me for the issue (I am a compotant computer repairer and fixer and have built many systems successfully) and upgraded many laptops without issue.
    * They also advertised it with an 8 cell battery, and got a 6 cell, I informed them of this and said they will rectify the issue the send me an 8 cell battery and have not done so (still waiting after 4 months)
    * They called me up after this issue above was raised and swore at me serveral times.

all in all i believe you should stay away from Logical blue one as they are not worth your time.

PS. If LBO wants to contact me to fix this issue please do so.

and the W170HN is unusable cause the keyboard is horrible due to the weirdness of placement i always press caps instead od a

    Dear Mrkorrupt,

I am sorry to hear about your trouble, but there is no chance that I nor any of our staff would ever swear at a customer. I think any of our customers would vouche for us and post the opposite result, we always look after our customers to the best we can.

Considering I can't look up your information, perhaps you could send us a note on the contact page or phone and we will assist you with the problem.

To the best of my knowledge there is no 8 cell battery for the W170HN and that it was a typo on the website. Perhaps we can arrange something else for you to compensate your loss.

My email is [email protected] if you require it for correspondence.

    *Edit spelling.

well see, heres my point the REP replied after 20 mins on my first post and hasnt been back since, why hasnt he answered my second set of queries? Is this the service LBO offer, i believe so, anything to get your money then no post sales service unless u threaten them with action… Never again LBO.

      • +2

Are you serious? Your comment made no need for a reply, so why would I reply? I have given you the correct channel in order to seek assistance.

      • I have never fobbed a customer off. I don't want to conduct enquiries regarding warranty issues here, as this is not the place to do it. But if you insist, please provide your order number and I will see how I can help you.

There is no need for those types of comments, I am sure there is a way to come to an amicable resolution.

Well to be honest i have hardly used this laptop i can not type on it, without getting frustrated at the issue of the a / caps lock mispressing (every other laptop i have gotten used to, this one i havent been able to, so it is sitting gathering dust, in almost near perfect condition. So even if you compensate me, its still not gonna make typing any easier on it.

Plus why can i not boot from E-SATA :-(

    • +2

      should sell it then =P

  • I see a frustrated customer.

  • After raising this issue with LBO,

    On the April 20th,

Jack Bovill said "I am requesting a battery for you, this was not done intentionally and we have updated the website" in an email to me (screen shot to be posted once i get home.

"I will let you know when it is available"

    • +1

That is correct. Unfortuntely Clevo have told me that there is no 8 cell battery for this machine. I can offer you an Intel Ultimate 6300 wireless card, or an 750GB 7200rpm Internal Hard Disk drive which are equivalent in value to your loss and maybe you can make good use of them?

    • @mrkorrupt I think you should get the offer, maybe the netbook isn't your like but it's too late now.

At this point there isn't much else you can do, just take (your bad experience?) and remember it for the next time you need to buy anything from internet so hopefully you'll make a good deal.
