Buro Metro Task Chair with Nylon Base $249 - Free Metro Shipping @ WINC

1000
FIRSTORDER

Fantastic office chair, available at a $20 discount for new WINC users.

I am typing from mine (aluminum base) purchased in 2014, and it's still in great shape. It has a large, deep, comfy cushion and supportive mesh back, which has been considered high quality for its price range for many years now, as an OzBargain favourite. In my opinion, if you have the extra $50 to splash, it is a superior bargain to the popular Cascade chair deal posted yesterday, particularly when looking at the seat cushion and the higher weight rating.

A few members have remarked previously that they think the nylon base has a softer cushion compared to the aluminum base (also available for $299). I rang both Winc and Buro this morning, and neither of them believed this was the case, and hadn't heard of that observation before. In their view, the ONLY difference in the base itself. I can't give any further insight than that, but both companies said to get in touch if this was found to be an issue and that they'd sort it out.

  • My partner's Buro Metro arrived today. Set it up. Can confirm the cushion is super comfy, and after considering the age of my aluminum base model (bought in 2014), the cushion is actually firmer. This leads to the conclusion that I cannot agree on the comments others have left about this nylon base having a softer cushion, but with that being said, I do not have two brand new ones side by side to confirm. All I know is that this new nylon base feels great.

    • Hi vinbie, mine arrived yesterday as well. Trying to assemble it now, but not sure how to fit the backrest post into the mesh backrest!

The instructions aren't particularly clear. Grateful if you could help! :)

      • I'm hoping you've solved it by now!! It's the middle hole, rather than the furthest out one, if that makes any sense. Then the large bolt inserted through.

        • I managed to jam it into the backrest..! Not sure if I had done it right though, cause having trouble adjusting the angle of the seats and backrest

  • I ordered on the 28th of July midday, received a refund on the 2nd of August with no notification. Decided to contact Winc via chat on the 3rd of August and their rep placed the order through again. I received an invoice with tracking showing shipped on the 4th of August. Decided to contact Wincs again today to ask how long shipping usually takes and was told they didn’t have the chair in stock. Was told they won’t have it in stock until October and that my refund was processed on the 5th of August. No notification again and a waste of a week waiting for a chair that was never coming.

if you ordered and are still waiting, it might not be coming. I'm in Melbourne btw.

    • They refunded me without notification. Also in Melbourne here. I ordered the nylon base without arms. It disappeared from my statement but my Credit card now has an available balance $249.01 higher than my limit. Called today and was advised there are shipments due mid September and mid October. They couldn't confirm I had been refunded even though I clearly had been. It was vaguely suggested (but in no way guaranteed) that I would be automatically charged again when stock arrives.

    • came here to tell y'all about availability after talking to customer support, apparently 250 of them arriving in Melbourne from NSW tomorrow (12th Aug) and would likely take to the most 2 more weeks for anything to happen(fingers crossed something happens earlier)

mine didn't get cancelled/refunded but boy has it been a long ass wait.

  • Not sure about what happened with other orders, but wanted to say i order it on 10 August and it just arrived today 13 August. So pretty fast and efficient.

  • Ordered at 4:30pm on 13th, arrived just before 10am today, 14th. By far the quickest free shipping I've ever had.

    • What is the chair like?

      • Yea, its a very solid chair, comfy with heaps of adjustability.
Probably not ideal for little people as its on the chunky side. It does squeak a bit, but the only chairs I've owned that don't, cost 5 times as much.

  • Thought I'd write my experience, I ordered this chair from Winc and it took two days to arrive (Sydney region).
Upon assembly I found the base of the chair wasn't level (it was slightly crooked to one side).
Contacted Winc through their only chat service and they arranged for a return pickup for the defective chair while a replacement chair was immediately shipped out.
The defective chair was picked up the next day, and replacement chair arrived a couple of days later with no issues.
Perfectly happy with the service and the product.

    • Any issues with creaking when shifting weight in the chair?

  • Still available for $249 - I just purchased one

  • Just tried to order this and my order was cancelled as it's out of stock? Website tells me there are 120 in stock though. Anyone else experienced this?

    • I ordered one yesterday - initially had some problems where it removed itself from my cart (due to being 'out of stock') but I tried a second time and was able to submit the order. Almost 24 hours later and it's progressed to the "Ready to ship" stage, so fingers crossed it doesn't get cancelled!

I suggest trying to order it again. If it gets cancelled a second time you might need to contact Winc.

  • For those that have had this for a little while now: have you had any issues with the chair making loud squeaks/creaks when leaning back? Or any general complaints at all? I'm currently using an Ikea Markus and the cushion (or lack of) is driving me crazy.

    • Yes, it gives my family the shits at night when i get up or lean back. Mine is like 5 years old.

  • Be warned from a 5+ year user:

The gas lift of the chair keeps failing and causing the chair to go down to the lowest height every time i sit on it. Where can I get a replacement gas lift from?
I would just get the $400 Metro II and save yourself the hassle.

    • https://www.buroseating.com/product/buro-metro/ - Details:

      Guarantee (yrs): 10, Lifetime gaslift

      • 10 years Guarantee my foot. Failed after 4 years.

        • did you make a warranty claim?

          • @tonester: Buro told me to contact the place I bought it from. I bought it from Officeworks like 4 years ago and they don't sell that product there anymore. Should I contact Buro or Officeworks?

            • +2

@Orico: I don't believe Buro can actually refuse your warranty claim and while yes u can most certainly go through the store you purchased it from. Buro are still responsible for the claim at least the R&D department of the company is.

  • This vs the cascade mesh chair here? 1.84m for reference.

  • Overrated chair. get yourself a lower lumber support cushion if youre buying this

    • What is a good budget/ mid range chair?

  • See this is still on. Any recent thoughts for 2021?
